Ready to get going

Peter Abraham
February
14

The team will hit the field at 11. There’s a big meeting now.

Here are the pitchers throwing in the bullpen:

Burnett (Molina)
Chamberlain (Cash)
Kennedy (Romine)
Sabathia (Posada)
Bruney
Geise
Veras
Albaladejo
Igawa
Robertson
Cox
Dunn
Garcia
Kontos

Wang and Pettitte threw yesterday. Suffice it to say, CC throwing to Posada will draw a crowd.

LOL This is moving way too fast……but I appreciate the work. Thanks, Pete!

    Pete,

BTW, the baseball coverage has been first rate.

You really are underpaid by your employers.

Thanks for all the hard work in updating the blog and keep things fresh and interesting.

While folks in here may disagree on issues from time to time, you have put together the best Yankee blog anywhere.

Thanks again for all the hard work you put in each day to make this place such a good destination.

    Burnett….CC…….drool

Bruney is going to play a big part in the Yankees success this year. He’s worked very hard to help this team (coming back from a severe injury last year) and to realize his full potential. I’m rooting for the guy, big time.

Of the other names on the list, I really like Alabadejo. He’s versatile and effective, though not flashy. Robertson has talent – I’m not sure he’ll make the team, but he can definitely help us at some point. His ML experience last year will only benefit him this year……

I’m going to post these comments just one more time, lol…..

SJ, although I wasn’t at last night’s event, I read Alex’ speech in the papers and I was impressed. As you said, he’s not about to commit Hari Kari because the media won’t let this go. I honestly think the very best thing he could do would be to ignore the media – just don’t read the papers or listen to sports talk radio. Why should he (or any player) care what these clowns think? These mediots are taking this all too personally, as if Alex killed their pets. I don’t like Keith Law, but he nailed it when he compared the behavior of A-Rod and Ray Lewis and the reactions to both by fans and media. It’s a joke. One more piece of advice for Alex – nothing he does (even before this story broke, this was the case) will ever be good enough, so at the press conference, he should just be himself – be human, be genuine. If that doesn’t satisfy the media’s need for a pound of flesh, so be it. It’s a one and done deal…….. Still, every time he hits a HR this season or has a big game, the mediots will question the legitimacy – we’d better be prepared.

On Hank Aaron – I was too young to see him play, but he’s always been one of my favorite players ever. His comments about Bonds still being the HR king don’t surprise me a bit. He’s remains as classy and gracious as ever – a real gentleman who honors the sport by his presence.

SJ – I didn’t realize that Goodell froze his salary. The day that Selig does that is the day that you-know-what freezes over.

Humberto Sanchez is beginning to frustrate me – the guy can not stay healthy. I would not count on him to play any role whatsoever this year for the Yankees…..

I will be checking this blog constantly for updates on the workouts today. Ah, the sound of AJ and CC fastballs popping in the glove……the true sounds of spring.

I can’t believe Rivera is 39……I can’t believe Jeter is 34 and I can’t believe Andy is graying already. My goodness, how time has flown…..yet Rivera remains ageless. It always amazes me how little work the man needs to stay in baseball shape, but then he’s a tremendous athlete – just lithe as a cat (I love how he pounces off the mound to field his position).

Ok, that’s it, lol. If Pete posts a new thread soon, so be it…..!

Rivera picked up where Ponce De Leon left off, and he achieved his goal.

The man is timeless. His induction into the Hall is not something I will miss.

I’ll be there front and center. He is the greatest Yankee at his position, of all time, though closers weren’t prominent in the early days of baseball.

    Pete

Is Cervelli in camp? Or is he not coming until after the WBC?

Mets sign Livan Hernandez – MLBTR

Don’t we have Livan Lovers on this blog.

Now you can enjoy your boy pitching cross town.

George King is at it again……

So far the Yankees sound like the von Trapp family in the “Sound of Music” with vows to support their teammate. Yet history tells us they will tire of the Rodriguez situation.

Then it will become a distraction. Then that will become the story and the questions as to whether the Yankees can survive it won’t dwindle.

    ****

I just can’t take this anymore. Maybe the Yankees will tire of it, but to question whether the Yankees will survive this season? How I wish the players could just give a collective flip the bird to the media. These losers are worse than a pack of wolves out for a kill – at least wolves just kill to eat. The media thinks this is a bloodsport – they would just love to take A-Rod and the Yankees down. I have no clue as to why I even went to the NY Post website – stupid mistake on my part.

    Where’s Mark Melancon at?

the yankees should hold a press conference and say:

Unless new information regarding PED’s and players is released, this team will not address any questions regarding PED’s, books, or any other matter not regarding on the field issues. If any of us are asked questions regarding this issue, we will simply say no comment. Any questions regarding those such topics will be answered here and now and never again for this season. And anybody who wishes to test this stance will be put in a pitching cage and learn how healthy Mariano really is.

Thanks for all of these updates Pete.

MLB Trade rumors says that the Tigers are considering trading away some of their pitchers…..Edwin Jackson’s name was mentioned……If that were to be true, I hope Cashman at least makes a call…That’s an arm ready to explode on to the scene….Love to have him….A-Rod, took the first step in his new life last evening as Alex the ballplayer, as he’ll be ridding himself of the A-Rod personna..

Just put the media in the batting cage and bring in Brackman and Sanchez to work on their control against live (but, brain-dead media). If they get hit, no big deal, there’s plenty to go around.

Yeah, young, cheap and getting better. His potential has always been fascinating. I wonder if Detroit would be interested in Sanchez, Ramirez (and would could dream) Igawa? They desperately need relief pitchers.
