Pete, the super poster!!!!! So many posts I can barely keep up!

  2. Tarheelyank February 16th, 2009 at 10:44 am

    Armageddon!

    Really, Who cares.

Apologize again, grovel at the feet of the righteous prees corps, then go take batting practice.

    Pete-
    What’s your take on A-Jax?

You think he will translate to what we hope him to?

I mean, if there are other, proven CFers on the market, are the Yankees reluctant to deal for one because A-Jax is waiting in the wings?

Did anyone else catch yesterday’s replay on YES of Joba shutting out the Red Sox last July? I’ll take 25 of the thank you.

  5. Joey's Poodle February 16th, 2009 at 10:48 am

All I ask is that he keep strictly to the ‘message of the day’ and get it over with. This can be one-and-done if he avoids saying something else that he’ll have to apologize for in the next news cycle.

  6. DT February 16th, 2009 at 10:52 am

The reporters will all be there
    Selena front and center fare,
    what a scene
Over men and horses hoops and garters
and lastly through a hogshead of real fire
In this way Mr. Alex will challenge the world

  7. SJ44 February 16th, 2009 at 10:54 am

No matter what he says tomorrow will not be enough for some.

After tomorrow he needs to shut up and play.

His actions, not his words, will determine whether or not he can ever repair his reputation.

  8. PAT M. February 16th, 2009 at 10:59 am

SJ44,,If Alex hits .320, 40 dingers and drives in 125 this crap will be gone…..

The only people I feel badly for in all of this is Hank Aaron and Roger Maris. I know Aaron came out and said Bonds is the legit HR king, which is typical of Aaron, because he was always one of the classiest players to play the game.

I’m supremely annoyed that baseball’s most historic and mythical numbers, 755 and 61, were both casualties of frauds like Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, and someday ARod.

When you think of what Aaron went through in his time, with the death threats, etc. to reach 755, then you think of guys like Bonds and ARod topping it with a steroid needle, it’s truly sickening.

He definitely needs to talk about it tomorrow, answer all the questions, then say he’s done talking about it this year. Move on and play baseball. Hopefully he has the kind of year PAT M. listed and this will all go away.

whatever happens im still going to cheer for the guy all season and the rest of his career…this guy was the reason i started watching baseball and will continue to be my favorite player. yea he messed up but who doesnt do something stupid in their life

  12. Stephen February 16th, 2009 at 11:03 am

The guy’s admitted to cheating for a quarter of his career.

He makes $25 million a year in a contract based in part on what he accomplished while outright cheating.

I really don’t think fans or the media are out of bounds to want complete explanations and contrition.

  13. rodg12 February 16th, 2009 at 11:04 am

    JohnBlackSox -

Too bad Aaron admitted to using Greenies though. Just as illegal as steroids and every bit a performance enhancer.

  14. DT February 16th, 2009 at 11:06 am

“After tomorrow he needs to shut up and play.”

Ah SJ – if only that could be so.

Ms. Roberts has coyly stated she won’t be making a statement about Alex’s apology until AFTER the press conference.

She will be dropping sound byte “time bombs” all the way up to her book release in April.

Her publicist claims she has further Alex drug revelations. I don’t doubt we will hear some leaks.

Even Bud can’t shut her up with his “best interests of the game” clause.

We are dealing with someone with an agenda. Someone who is trying to get her name in lights. It’s not about the game with her – it’s personal. I don’t know why. But it is.

  15. JoeyA February 16th, 2009 at 11:06 am

“After today, I will not further address any matters regarding my time in Texas, or any PED use during that time. This is the last time I’m going to talk about this topic with the media. Any and all questions can be asked now.”

What are the chances he reads this blog?

  16. Tex's New Best Friend February 16th, 2009 at 11:08 am

Joey what are the chances ifhe said that, that the media would accept it and let it go??

  17. JoeyA February 16th, 2009 at 11:21 am

    TexNBF-
None. But at least, than, he has reason to “No comment” til he’s blue in the face.

“you had your chance to ask me questions. I made myself available, but now, I’m focusing on baseball. If new information comes to light, than I will address it accordingly. But, I refuse to continue to answer curiosity questions regarding my time in Texas. That time is over, and I’m focusing on my career in NY”

  18. casey February 16th, 2009 at 11:32 am

A-Rod isn’t giving any new info tomorrow so make other plans for your afternoon unless you want to hear him say he’s sorry again.

He’s gonna get killed either way so he’s saying nothing.

  19. tampayank February 16th, 2009 at 11:38 am

is A-ROD practicing before the press conference at 10am like everyone else has been or are position guys just reporting then having their first official workout at SF on Wednesday?

  20. Michael Kei (Igawa) February 16th, 2009 at 11:53 am

I don’t get it, why does the New York media call this a circus, and complain about it being a circus. They are the ones asking the questions and bringing the circus. Then they write stories about it being a distraction, and ask the athletes questions related to A-Rod, post it online, on blogs, and in newspapers.

  21. Fan Mail From Some Flounder February 16th, 2009 at 12:12 pm

    Pete,

Yet another A-Rod/PEDs post. How lame…

    JohnBlacksox,

    Yawn…

    Stephen,

    Yawn (twice)…

Follow another sport, baseball is just too intense for you. Lol.

  22. Vincent February 16th, 2009 at 12:35 pm

This has potential to be very very ugly. Buster Olney brought up a good point. ARod only said he hasnt used a banned substance but HGH wasn’t banned in 2004. What will he say then? Of course he also said his Yankee years have been clean, but does he consider taking HGH being clean because it wasn’t banned? Someone will ask if he has used HGH and if he says no and they can prove otherwise, this has only begun.

I hope for the sake of the team he isn’t vague about anything and just gets it out of the way so they can get #27 out of the way.

  23. Rosa February 16th, 2009 at 1:19 pm

If you don’t like Pete’s Arod/PED posts, skip them.

  24. bardos February 16th, 2009 at 3:38 pm

“how clean do i have to come? what else does selena know?”

  25. JohnBlacksox February 16th, 2009 at 6:25 pm

Fan Mail: You sound like quite the brain surgeon. “lol”
