    Welcome to the jungle Mark

  2. m February 16th, 2009 at 6:24 pm

LIstening to the audio now. Mark sure is a chatty cat.

From the last thread. I don’t know what Radomski has to do with Alex, Roberts, or player/sources.

Any guesses on what else Selina Roberts has on A-rod?

Pete, is Selena going to be at the press conference?

  3. fredg February 16th, 2009 at 6:27 pm

What’s with the chick on the right? It’s as if texeira passed gas and she’s stuck there and has to withstand it.

  4. Al from BK February 16th, 2009 at 6:28 pm

Hey Mark! Don’t worry it will get better once games start.

  5. jldraw February 16th, 2009 at 6:30 pm

Tex looks good. Kinda off topic but I picked up Springsteen’s new album today. Still don’t get what the big deal is with this guy quite frankly – one of the most inconsitent artists of the past twenty years. I love everything he did from Greetings-Nebraska but after that his output pales in comparison with his contemporaries such as Tom Petty and John Mellencamp in my opinion.

  6. Terry from NH February 16th, 2009 at 6:30 pm

That Mark Teixeira has one cool, calm presence about him. The Yanks brought in some good personalities. Something this team needs is an identity and leadership. Yanks could have 2 MVP candidates by year end!!

  7. jennifer February 16th, 2009 at 6:30 pm

sa- You posted two of the cutest pictures!!

Also I know it is very early, but right now I love the chemistry (no pun intended) I have seen so far with this team. For the new comers to go to a press conference that I am sure will be a snoozer, to hearing their interviews.

I have a very good feeling about this year!

  8. jennifer February 16th, 2009 at 6:32 pm

Who is the new player rep for the Yankees? Tex mentioned a rookie, but I thought that is usually left up to a vet.

  9. Terry from NH February 16th, 2009 at 6:32 pm

What happened to that guy who had 4 named players who ratted Arod out?? That seems to have dwindled in recent days.

  10. Peter Abraham February 16th, 2009 at 6:34 pm

    Jldraw:

Tunnel of Love, The Rising and Magic?

Those were all in the last 20 years. Springsteen’s worst day is better than Mellencamp’s best day.

jennifer-my favorite was that picture of Girardi carrying that sunflower seed bucket with his little lady in it. Too cute!

Yikes, championing John Cougar Mellancamp over Springsteen is as questionable as it comes. It’s one thing to say you don’t get what the Boss is all about, but put down the pipe for Mr. Jack & Diane.

  15. jennifer February 16th, 2009 at 6:37 pm

    Yeah love that one!

Who is the hot blond reporter on his right? PURRRRRRRRR

  17. jennifer February 16th, 2009 at 6:38 pm

For his teammates, the answers matter less than the symbolic gesture they will make by attending. The old-guard Yankees will be there — Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettitte and Jorge Posada — as well as the newcomers Teixeira, C. C. Sabathia and A. J. Burnett and younger players like Brian Bruney and Joba Chamberlain.

    Fran,

    From the other thread….

Yes, it’s Doug Plank. He was working with the Falcons DB’s this season, after spending the previous 3 seasons coaching the Georgia Arena League team.

SAFE AT HOME: The tornadoes that ripped through Oklahoma last week struck the town of Edmond, where Bobby Murcer’s family resides. Kay Murcer, Bobby’s widow, told the Daily News that the house across the street was destroyed by the twister, though the Murcer home, which was unoccupied as Kay was in California, suffered limited damage. …

    S.A.-

I also wanted to add – cute! pictures! Especially the sunflower bucket with his daughter.

  21. Fran February 16th, 2009 at 6:45 pm

    SJ44,

Wish him luck. He has some good young talent to work with (Rhodes and Revis). I am a big Jets fan and I am looking forward to next season under Ryan.

Springsteen towers over Mellencamp who was simply a guy David Bowie’s old manager found when he was auditioning Springsteen clones. Petty is also far ahead of Mellencamp.

I can’t wait till the real baseball news starts.

  26. Nick in SF February 16th, 2009 at 6:55 pm

I am pro-Bruce all the way, but I would argue that John Cougar Mellancamp’s best song(s) are better than Springsteen’s worst song(s). J(C)M has some decent tunes on “Scarecrow” or whatever that record is called. “Minutes to Memories” is particular is a strong track.

Verdict: the best JCM is better than the worst Bruce.

And yeah, can that blond SNY reporter be invited to the next video chat?

  27. Doreen February 16th, 2009 at 6:58 pm

    jennifer -

I gotta say – after looking at all those terrific ST pictures, my thought was, does ARod really have to show up yet?????

  28. m February 16th, 2009 at 7:02 pm

    jennifer,

    Thank you. It WAS adorable.

Not a huge Bruce or JCM fan. But I can say that I like “Jack & Diane” better than any Bruce song.

  32. Neil February 16th, 2009 at 7:19 pm

    Ham Fighters -

I wonder if Mellencamp is a Yankee fan ?

    http://www.dizzler.com/music/J.....Mellencamp

It sure beats any A-Rod discussion.

  33. pat February 16th, 2009 at 7:20 pm

Thanks for the Tex audio Pete.

Tell Gammons the shopping on Greenwich and Putnam Avenues is pretty great!

  34. Ham Fighters February 16th, 2009 at 7:20 pm

im sure hes a yankees fan! (when he’s in ny!)

  35. James February 16th, 2009 at 7:26 pm

Anyone see the pitt center do some kind of over the back karate throw with Thabeet? Lucky he didnt break his arm, on replay it looked intentional to me as well.

  36. pat February 16th, 2009 at 7:27 pm

A-Rod has retained attorney James Sharp, the same lawyer that represented Andy Pettite for his congressional appearance.

  37. Al from BK February 16th, 2009 at 7:32 pm

Teixeira has future captain written all over. The guy is a leader hes gonna be fun to watch this season.

I don’t have a dog in the Mellencamp-Springsteen hunt, but I can tell you that my sister would fight to the death on the Mellencamp side. I think she has spent more money on Mellencamp concerts than my entire house is worth! Okay that might be a slight exaggeration. But I think it’s close.

    :D

  39. Phil February 16th, 2009 at 7:34 pm

    Bruce is a Yankee fan.

  40. PAT M. February 16th, 2009 at 7:35 pm

He also has a MVP Trophy with his name on it , either 2009 or 2010…You’re going to love watching this guy play everyday….

That looks like Julie Donaldson. (former Miss Florida USA) She used to be at SNY – went to Boston Ch. 7 – and left there in December.

I guess she is back on SNY now. She’s had a tough year.

I spent the last year watching the Sopranos series.

Just finished watching the last episode now. I feel so empty. Where’s my Hollywood ending?

  44. Joey's Poodle February 16th, 2009 at 7:45 pm

Looks like Teixera came straight from Texas in his guayabera! He won’t see much competition on that front in NYC.

Regarding Brucie: Watching a 60 year old man slide crotch first into camera range as the half-time viewers had to do must raise the bar considerably for the level of music he would have had to offer to make that show worth while…

    There can’t be a Hollywood ending, M.

It’s set in New Jersey.

  46. Steinbooga February 16th, 2009 at 8:07 pm

OK, Who will have better numbers this year? AROD or Selena Roberts?

  47. rover February 16th, 2009 at 8:30 pm

Bring back Fogarty and CCR, and Im a happy camper.

  48. jldraw February 16th, 2009 at 11:33 pm

Sorry Pete but The Rising and Magic are simply attempts to remake “Born In The USA” from where I stand. Springsteen had a great string of albums like I mentioned from Greetings-Nebraska and then made an album which a lot of people consider his finest (“Born In The USA”) although I’m not one of them. Since that time his albums tend to sound more and more like he’s trying to remake BITU than anything else.

The only exceptions would be “The Ghost Of Tom Joad” and “Devils & Dust” which are retreads through “Nebraska”. There is a book that Geoffrey Himes wrote on BITU where he describes it as the watermark for Bruce and I have to agree, it all kind of went downhill from there from a creative standpoint. Actually if you want to hear some great Springsteen try to hunt up a torrent of a bootleg called “American Madness”, its a 4 CD set of outtakes from “Darkness” – Some great stuff on there.
