How about pictures of someone else please. Cano? Tex in stripes?
carlos lee missed the first workout for astros because he ‘forgot’ what day he was supposed to report! he’s going to be paid $18.5 million this year but he forgot which day to report?
did someone say arod couldn’t be THAT stupid?
http://www.chron.com/disp/stor.....68176.html
I have a good feeling about today’s baseball news.
pete,
are the guys joking around and having fun? or does it seem like they are on edge?
thanks for the great shots
Pete, I know you love your iPhone and all, but please – bring a real camera with you with a zoom lens. They make them really small these days too. Exilim for example. Like a credit card.
Pete, really enough with the Arod pictures.. Go focus on someone else. Where’s Kei Igawa or Ian Kennedy?
I agree. We understand you hate ARod but we really don’t need a picture of him every 3 minutes in a different pose.
I would love to see Tex or some better one’s of AJ and CC.
For the love of good it was no surprise you were going to be there, you couldn’t bring a better camera????
Stop stalking Arod, Pete. That’s Ms. Roberts job.
Pete,
You have enough pictures of alex to make a photo album for him.
AND someone posted the rest of what cashman actually said. You really took his quotes totally out of context to make it seem like he was being really unsupportive. The rest of the comment was screaming we support him and we will help him get through this. The only line that didnt say that explicitly was the one that you posted.
Did AJ throw his bullpen yet?
Come on everyone he is getting all the Arod photos done today so we can have an AROD free blog tomorrow.
Enough of Arod already. I am Arod-ed out. We need some Tex pics….
apparently, the last few pieces of shea stadium are coming down right now.
it was a weired place, but a place where i saw a lot of baseball as a kid. my boy scout troop and little league team always took us to mets games and i loved it!
the stadium as also linked in my head with the 1964 world’s fair which i was so lucky to have as an imaginitive 4 and 5 year old. something that really opened my eyes to the world around me.
i wont miss going to that old piece of crap and its good that it came down with little fanfare and practically no regret, but i guess i will miss it in some way.
still im really looking forward to having a styling new park to watch nl games in as well as the new yankee stadium.

“Color me confused”
I definitely think you were on to something there. Very funny actually.
Any reason given why Humberto Sanchez has been held out of throwing the last couple of days? This is a big year for him to finally show something. Hope he is not hurt again.
Any reason given why Humberto Sanchez has been held out of throwing the last couple of days? This is a big year for him to finally show something. Hope he is not hurt again.
Would definitely like to see Tex in pinstripes. Get to work Pete!
“are the guys joking around and having fun? or does it seem like they are on edge?”
Without Pavano being in camp, I can understand why they would be on edge. Theres no one left to laugh at.
is is possible a ’single white female’ type situation is brewnig here?
or is that a bromance?
They’ve found Arod’s cousin!
http://www.cartoonspot.net/loo.....nzales.php
humberto i heard has discomfort in his arm or shoulder, elbow, one of them.
Pete’s taking so many pics of Alex in a veiled attempt to convince us that he doesn’t hate the guy.
Bru,
That Sheff trade really worked out for us didn’t it?
More Joba Loving:
http://img7.uploadhouse.com/fi.....a0d20d.jpg
A-Lies and Bonds a match made in heaven
Show me pictures of non-cheats (as far as we know)… give me some Jeter, Rivera, Tex, Joba, CC, etc
I don’t think Arod’s Mother really likes him.
gman
i hear ya.he can’t stay healthy,even in the pen.
i was wondering how long it would take for a pushed-back bp session to turn into ‘fire cashman’ calls.
we’re halfway there.
Find Nady and take some pictures of him.
My friend is having issues with their new plan at the stadium. Originally they had a Sunday plan, well now the Yankees just switched them to a week day plan. Needless to say they declined. But does anyone have a direct number at the box office? They can’t get through on the phone.
Hopefully, those accusing Pete of hating A Rod are joking. There’s not a bigger critic of the way the media has expoloited this “scandal” than me. Pete sometimes gets caught up in the maelstrom but at least he’s voiced being tired of the situation. He’s offered to make tomorrow a Steroid Free Day on the blog. What other reporter is even doing that? It will be interesting to see who abides by the rule and who doesnt.
A Dominican Weightlifter in NYC called the Max Kellerman show stating that “BOLE” is “ANIBOLEX”, not Primobolan.
Anibolex cannot be injected, “These aren’t Tic-Tacs we’re talking about”
A-Rod, you can’t inject Tic-Tacs either…
The adventures of Arod and his Cousin!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v.....re=related
I mentioned this late last night and wanted to know if anyone knows the facts. Gammons mentioned a couple days back that Penny has regained his velocity. Is Gammons just fluffing the Sox players as usual or is this a fact? If its true, do you guys think he can be a force in the a.l.?
Michael- That was Selena Roberts, she disguised her voice.
sos- HMMM I wonder how he regained mph on his fb? Maybe he contacted Alex’s cousin.
Drive,
Agreed. This story isn’t “great” for Pete or any of the beat writers. It ends up making their jobs harder after the media moralists/columnists leave for their next story.
Pete and the other beat guys are left with trying to get players to talk about baseball. Something that gets harder and harder to do after awhile.
i think pete has been a defender of arod for the entire time ive been reading this blog. he has jokingly mocked those who blame arod for all of the yankees problems, while pointing out that he’s a little strange.
people who say he’s an arod hater are flat wrong.
ESPN just said Jeter is talking to the media now. Those losers thought they would have his conference live but they said the Yanks didn’t allow any cameras….haha
new video of the stadium:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKebv5A1tFA
Beggars can’t be choosers. I’m thankful we are getting any shots at all.
Not sure if this was addressed in a previous thread, but curious whether any explanation has surfaced for why Posada left mid-conference yesterday?
“That Sheff trade really worked out for us didn’t it?”
Better than it’s worked out for Detroit.
“people who say he’s an arod hater are flat wrong.”
That’s your opinion. In my opinion, Pete doesn’t like Alex. The tone he uses in his posts make that very clear. Does he hate him? No, hate is too strong a word. Let’s just say that if Pete were throwing a party, Alex wouldn’t make it on the guest list.
Cindy adams of the ny post also talked about the stadium in her column today. (Why is she writing about the stadium — got me?)
“Pete and the other beat guys are left with trying to get players to talk about baseball. Something that gets harder and harder to do after awhile.”
SJ44, am I misunderstanding you? Are you saying that it’s the players that are making the reporters ask them questions about A-Rod? Somehow, I find that very hard to believe. This story lives on because of the sportswriters. They most certainly aren’t the victims here. We baseball fans are and Alex {to a lesser extent}.
I’m glad to hear that A-Rod got cheered……now, onto baseball talk.
Pete, did Phil throw today? If so, how’d he look?
I’m eager for more pics of the new guys, especially Tex – he has not yet had his day in the sun. I really hope to see some good pics of him in pinstripes.
Pete- maybe you (or anyone else) can address this: Is it just me, or from all the pictures I see, does it seem like there’s still a lot of work to be done on the new Yankee Stadium? All the pics/video I see of CitiField look like a stadium practically ready for Opening Day, while Yankee Stadium looks like it’s got a long way to go- and here we are most of the way through February. I’m sure there are smarter people than me involved in the project… but, am I imagining this?
Wow, I hate myself for getting the “Bromance” reference. Pretty sure I just lost all my street cred on that one!
i guess i can always say that i was in the dark until my cousin explained it to me
(and that is the closest to a steroid comment I will get; other than that, baseball!! If we’re all requesting pics, I’m happy w/anything Pete gives us but I’d like to see one of Molina, since I heard he lost weight.
I wonder if he will catch all of Pettitte’s games this year like he did last year for him and Moose? I guess that is one way to limit Jorge’s starts to the 110 they want.
Jennifer,
No need to call his cousin,i think he went the B-12 with some ripped fuel and some tic tacs for the bad breath after taking them route.
ahahaha…Jetes says “F U ESPN!” …love it.
Ham,
What is with this comment you made this morning – “lets stop asking for perfection from cashman. hes human, hes been dragged over the coals this winter and he’s pissed. he has every right to be.”
First off, when exactly was cashman dragged over the coals this winter? I have heard nothing but praise for the guy since the nick swisher trade which was our first real move last off-season. And who is asking for perfection from him? The quote pete posted made it out to seem like he didnt support anything arod did yesterday. Later, I read the whole quote and realized he actually did support him so that is fine.
Frankly, Im sure you already know that unlike some folks in here, I have absolutely no reservations about criticizing cashman. When I think he deserves some, I will be one of the first to give it to him despite the barrage of posts against me that usually follows. But this time, when it comes to signing arod, I have nothing against the move. He was the best player in the game and he was irreplaceable at the time. Even now, we need him far more than some people think. So i applaud cashman for swallowing his pride along with the other guys in the FO and re-signing him after he opted out.
The one thing I dont like and this has nothing to do with what cashman has said or done is the idea that cashman not only had nothing to do with the re-signing but was completely against it. My memory may be a bit fuzzy because it was two whole years ago but I dont really remember cashman jumping up and down about the prospect of singing Joe crede or ty wigginton at the time.
And i believe it was hank and not brian who publicly declared that if he opted out, the yanks were done with him. Nor do i remember it being common knowledge until just this week that cashman was trying to talk anyone out of the deal. All I remember was that in 2007, cash had total control over the general manager position and that job has something to do with signing players. So this nonsense that he never wanted him back in the first place doesnt really fly with me as I have heard about a hundred different times now that brian cashman had no say in the decisions that define his profession.
I will not continue to believe this stuff after george;s days of sitting around with his tampa buddies and making moves are long gone. But of course, I dont blame them for making the move and i think in the end it will work out for the best, I just would like the bloggers on here to stop with the re-writing history garbage.

“Color me confused”
I definitely think you were on to something there. Very funny actually.
a “plant” post did cross my mind, Tarheelyank.
Laura,
This story isn’t living on because of the beat writers. They HATE writing about this stuff.
Its the SI’s, ESPN’s, and other columnists around the country who won’t let it go.
That makes it tougher on the beat writers because it makes the players very uneasy about talking to the media about anything.
You have the national media, along with selected columnists, still trying to play “catch up” with the story.
Since they all missed it (or more accurately, chose not to report on it) the first time around, they can’t let it go now. Its like a vicious cycle that has no ending.
That’s not on the beat writers though. Their task, writing about baseball, gets tougher because nobody seems to want to let the PED issue go.
Pete-
Is there any way when you add pictures, you can add them to the same thread.
When you add three new threads for each picture, it makes it hard for us to continue our conversations/arguments regarding the Yankees.
Just a thought. Doing great! Keep it up.
i walked by the outside of nationals stadium the day before it opened last year and they were still pulling throwing out furniture boxes and there was still some wet cement in places. who cares as long as there’s a field, some dugouts and enough seats?
i didnt expect novella-lenght analysis of what i said but it stands on its own.
he was dragged over the coals about the torre book. and he’s had to deal with this arod crap ever since. if he’s pissed, i say he has every reason to be.
Pete is probably in Jeter’s press conference.
John Henry says MLB needs a salary cap and he thinks players will agree to it.
http://www.google.com/hostedne.....AD96E4RG00
Any help on the ticket agent front? My friend is flipping out.
“Pete and the other beat guys are left with trying to get players to talk about baseball. Something that gets harder and harder to do after awhile.”
I’m no expert so take this for what it’s worth, but I would think the players would also be so tired of all this steroid stuff that they would be thrilled for the chance to talk about baseball, and refuse to talk about anything but after awhile.
But I know the beat writers just want to talk about baseball too and steroid press conferences are not why they signed on to be sports reporters. So having to ask about the other stuff must get more and more annoying as time goes on.
I guess what I don’t get is….if the Yankee players don’t want to talk about steroids, fans dont want to hear about them and the beat writers don’t want to write about them, and we all want to talk about baseball instead, why do the beat writers still have to write about roids? Don’t mean this as an ‘evil media’-type post at all, just honestly asking,at least w/in the Yankees media world it seems no one wants to hear about them….where is the market/demand coming from for their incessant coverage?
pat- the cap that Henry is calling for would be $1 above the red soxs payroll.
Funny coming from a guy who was prepared to take on Alex’s deal, was prepared to offer Mark the same general contract. Talk about sour grapes.
go to Yankees.com for ticket info stuff.
jennifer,
the same guy who also paid all that money for dice-k. the same person that will shell out the money just like we did if the sox dont make the playoffs. hypocrite.
Well looks like we have to call the papers and tell them to just talk baseball we are sick of the steroid talk. I haven’t bought a paper in a long time, because I am tired of reading about this. I am not listening to any sports radio today cause I don’t want to hear about Alex’s pc anymore! I am tired of it.
I want to hear who they think will win the CF job. Not something Alex did 6 years ago when he played for another team!
My friend is flippin about his sunday pac too.
This is probably gonna mess with my sat package.
They are offering weekday packs instead?
I was listening to max kellerman this morning and the body language expert he was speaking with said arod was telling the truth..
if i was john henry, id want a cap too, not a strict one, just one that keeps the ‘drunken sailor’ type teams from ruining things for smart, responsibly run teams, if you know what i mean….
“Gammons mentioned a couple days back that Penny has regained his velocity. Is Gammons just fluffing the Sox players as usual or is this a fact? If its true, do you guys think he can be a force in the a.l.?”
Yes, Penny is throwing 104mph on flat ground and as soon as Ryan Kalish gets a phsyical, he and penny are going to the twins in exchange for Santana who is willing to accept a below market deal because he wants to pitch in Boston. Its all confirmed.
oh, i thought you meant dragged over the coals about the arod situation. Its just to me – dragged over the coals means taking some heat for something. And cash has not taken much if any heat for either of those. Torre took far more criticism for writing those stories than cash did for being in them as far as I know. And cash is not really getting a single ounce of blame for any of this stuff about arod as far as I can tell – not from the media or the fans. The only things I heard about cash is that he didnt want to sign him in the first place which is not exactly criticism – i think people are saying that as a positive. I dont really see cash taking any heat for anything . Sorry about the length – once i start in on something I just cant seem to stop typing.
Day before John Henry’s meeting with Mark Teixeira in Dallas, we never heard the world “salary cap” from his lips.
Funny how that works, isn’t it?
uncle- yes they were offered a week day plan instead. I told them to email someone at the Yankees. This is total bs.
I wouldn’t blame Cashman for being mad right now either, or even for wishing he hadn’t signed that extension (though I hope he doesnt cause he’s been with the Yankees forever, I consider him part of the fam, so that would sting a bit.)
From Cash’s POV, it’s like, cant he just do his job w/o distraction?! Through his whole tenure, if it isnt one thing making his job difficult, it’s another. First he has to work around idiots who do things like draft John Ford Griffin or say, ‘Guerrero? Nah…Sheffield. Beltran? Nah, Johnson.’
Then as soon as he gets control of those kinds of moves, he has to deal with divas (yeah I said it) like Sheffield, Clemens and Torre. Then ARod’s opt out. Then when he finally gets all these idiotic, unwieldy contracts off his books, he has his best player taking steroids to contend with. After ARod and Cashman sat together and hammered out the HR incentive clauses, this is a MAJOR slap in the face to Cash and I dont blame him one bit for being mad.
Then on top of that, he had to take a ton of undeserved flak in the Torre book nonsense because of Torre’s divorce from the Yankees, which actually was mainly made ugly by Hank and Levine!
the poor guy….but he continues to make great moves and keep a calm, ninja-like demeanor even if he’s enraged on the inside. Damn it feels good to be a gangsta…..
I personally resent the reporting of ESPN, and especially SI, on this issue. Selena Roberts reported the truth with reckless disregard for our desire to believe the lie. For that we hate her guts.
BBB,
Because writers have editors they have to answer to. If the editors want steroid stories, that’s what they have to give them.
Its not just up to the beat guys to decide what to write. They have to take their marching orders from their bosses.
Hence, we get overrun by these stories when something happens.
Jennifer -I, too, have avoided sports radio, newspaper articles and ESPN…I’m even loath to turn it on for NBA updates because the “A-ROD” news ticker across the bottom of the screen is so annoying. If all Yankee fans do this, maybe ESPN et al will get the message….we do probably comprise a huge chunk of rating$ after all!
When you get down to it YES provides the only responsible reporting on the Yankees. All other outlets are biased. I get most of my hard baseball news (albeit a bit late) from Yankeeographies.
jeter is as smooth as it gets with the media.he gives you nothing & he is always in contol of the interview not the other way around.
