All-natural blog a big hit

Posted by: Peter Abraham - Posted in Misc on Feb 19, 2009 Print This Post Print This Post | Email This Post Email This Post

My Dominican cousin tried to convince me otherwise. But the all-natural baseball blog is proving to be a success. As of 3 p.m., we had close to 1,000 comments and the page views were about the same as any other day.

I received — seriously — 25 e-mails in favor of the idea and one opposed.

It may not stay that forever because my duty is to report the news even if it involves steroids. But it’s nice to know we can live in peace and harmony for at least one day and talk about baseball.

Speaking of baseball the right way, it’s cool that Mattingly Baseball is back as one of our sponsors. Check them out to find out more about their bats and other equipment.

    ” and one opposed.”

wonder who that could’ve been :?:

This was a good idea, Pete, and whoever else suggested it. Good to take a step back (or is that really forward?).

I was the one who complained. I don’t really like baseball all that much and would prefer if the blog consisted only of drug talk.

    Nice work Pete.

To be honest, I dont visit any baseball blogs/news sources on days when there is a feeding frenzy like 2 days ago.

    I completely tune out.

I still want to know how many pinstripes it took to make CC’s pants…or what was going through Pettitte’s mind during his photo this morning…

How do we know how “natural” today was?

There is no test for HGH.

Some folks could be posting while under the influence of HGH.

Until there is blood testing, we will never be sure how natural posting is in here.

    Again…Pete,
How did Joba and Bruney pitch?

Count me as the 26th in favor! Couldn’t we do this every day? Pete, I don’t know what your boss thinks, but it’s not clear to me that declaring the blog permanently “all natural” is a dereliction of duty. You can still write about steroids nonsense in the paper even if the blog eats quinoa.

See Pete, you don’t need PED’s to boost your blog performance, you were just as good without them.

Such a shame you had to disgrace yourself by resorting to them.

    :)

Honestly don’t appreciate the whole “my dominican cousin” bit, but otherwise its all good…

Is baseball not using this new technology?

Isn’t “my dominican cousin” the name of the play Lincoln was watching at Fords theater.

Pete, I missed the earlier post re the sloppy letter sent out by the Yankees’s “relocation” folks. The reason there is a strong demand for full season tickets is that they eliminated the A Plan of 61 games, but guaranteed the same field position for the the new YS if those folks upgraded to an 81 game plan. So what choice did those people have? The other folks who had 41 game or 20 game plans were sent to the outfield. It is a very conscious and calculated effort to force people to buy 81 game plans. The remainder of long time season ticket holders were completely screwed, including me. I was an A Plan “licensee” until a few years ago when the Yankees called me and asked me to substitute B and C Plans for the A Plan (same number of games) and assured me I would be treated going forward as an A Plan licensee. When I discovered that I had no right to similar seats as a B and C Plan licensee, I contacted the office and asked for the treatment I was promised. The people answering the phones agreed with me; a suit upstairs in the Yankee hierarchy said no. The result? I was “offered” a 41 game plan in left field (as opposed to being up from 3rd base in main level). The other result is that there will be a lot more suits in the seats and a lot of long time season ticket holders on the sidelines. It is a longer and more upsetting story, but those are the lowlights.

    Rhapsody,

That test is not yet on the market. There isn’t a reliable urine test on the market at this time for HGH.

All natural, and with added Bernie and George.

After all the nonsense of the of weeks, it was just fantastic to see that pic of Bernie back in uniform.

I have to say I pretty much stopped reading the comments here over the past week, it was just far too awful reading pointless, repetitive posts. Today has been great, it’s so much more interesting when people talk about baseball.

Long, long may the s-word-free days continue…

  20. rbj February 19th, 2009 at 4:30 pm

And make me #27. I prefer on field stuff to off field stuff any day.

No need to inject other things into baseball. Ooops. :-)

I’m disappointed no one picked up on the obvious reference to Michael Phelps in the subject of this post.

“All-natural blog a big [bong] hit”

    Shameless, Pete. Shameless.

PA – “It may not stay that forever because my duty is to report the news even if it involves steroids.”

Why don’t you start a steroids only blog. That way you can post to your hearts content, or “duty” as you call it, about all things A-Rod/steroid/negative, etc. Those who love that sort of tabloid crap can roll in it 24/7 and those of us who’ve had enough of it since, well, forever, can read and respond on the non-steriodal baseball blog.

    Just a thought…

  23. David February 19th, 2009 at 5:12 pm

Even when you try to stay away from the topic, you can’t help with the snide humor.

  24. jj February 19th, 2009 at 5:14 pm

So are we going back to calling him underdog?
didn’t underdog take some sort of pill to make him great?

  25. Pete W February 19th, 2009 at 5:17 pm

    Pete,

A suggestion – unless the topic of steroids is in your title, the topic is not to be discussed

  26. Gus G. February 19th, 2009 at 5:17 pm

Who was the one person opposed? Joel Sherman?

  27. Jeremy February 19th, 2009 at 6:13 pm

This day can’t end soon enough! I’m itching to write comments about steroids! ;-)

  28. VT Yankeefan February 20th, 2009 at 12:13 am

If we must have steroid stories let’s keep it all in one thread.
