    “Seriously? No way he’s better than Griffey Jr, Bonds and ARod. And, I’m a huge Rickey fan”

    yes he was.

    Arod and Bonds juiced. And better then Griffey due to the injuries. However, if he had remained healthy, i would have to pick Griffey.

  5. JB

    In if there is room, sent an email. Sounds like fun.

    A-Rod would have been a better player anyway. People who haven’t done their research don’t seem to understand the effect of PED’s.

  12. gayle

    Saucy never assume anything last year when we did this tons of people said yes then we scattered to find them when the time really came

  13. rodg12

    vinnyb -
    Don’t give me that juiced crap. Especially when you have no empirical evidence as to how steroids enhanced performance or that Rickey definitely didn’t take anything.

  14. saucY

    okay okay, i just sent the email…

    shoulda woulda coulda…

  16. tejas leaguer

    seriously, its the bottom of the 9th in the 7th game, you’re down 3 with 2 outs and the bases loaded. arod’s the scheduled hitter and you have reggie on the bench. who you gonna send up?

    i gotta bat reggie.

  17. vinny-b

    “A-Rod would have been a better player anyway. People who haven’t done their research don’t seem to understand the effect of PED’s”

    even if Arod never did PED’s. I would still select Rickey.

    as i prefer Henderson’s game, over Arod. Henderson was the greatest base stealer of all-time, and

    +++ average
    ++++ OBP
    ++++ walks
    ++++ runs scored
    +++ power
    +++ RBI’s (for a leadoff hitter)
    ++++ SB’s

    he did this every single year, and his career is a model of consistency and longevity. He was a solid defensive player, as well. Most SB’s, walks, and runs scored in the history of baseball. Yes, he is better then Arod.

    Ok, I’ll fix it.

    A-Rod is still the better player. Regardless of whether or not you accept his achievements, he’s still the superior player

    rickey had more effect on every game he was in than any non-pitcher ive seen in my life. nobody had that kind of effect.

    runs is a flawed stat but its essence is true, runs are what wins games. rickey scored more runs than anybody even cobb.

  20. rodg12

    ARod put up his stats at two much more valuable positions defensively than Rickey’s LF. It’s really no contest. ARod is simply better. With Bonds, it’s not even close either.

    your argument is broken. The numbers don’t lie:

    “runs is a flawed stat but its essence is true, runs are what wins games. rickey scored more runs than anybody even cobb”

    agreed. Actually, in Henderson’s case “Runs” are not a flawed stat. He got on base more then any other player in history of baseball. And would then proceed to get himself into scoring position (usually automatic), by taking 2nd base. Thus it is not by chance, he holds the record for most runs in history of the game.

    Geez, I saw this email late today…Hope I get in!

    If you ignore juicing Bonds is the best player in that group, easily. Arod may surpass him but he hasn’t yet. He did/does play a more demanding position so he should get a bump for that. Bonds was no scrub in the field when younger though.

    I get sick of all the talk about what Griffey could have done if only he didn’t get hurt. He is the career active HR leader. He is a lock first ballot HOFer. If Bonds had deteriorated as would have been expected Griffey would be the best player of the 90’s. If he has a decent year in Seattle as a DH and sticks it out for one or two more, he could break 3,000 hits and pass Mays on the career HR list. He has 9 seasons of 30+ HR’s and 11 with 90+ RBI. He was a ++ defender in CF.

    He might have been the all time HR king if hadn’t gotten hurt, but what he has accomplished puts him in the same league as other great center fielders like Mays, Mantle and DiMaggio. He has been that good and should be thought of that way, not as the guy that missed out on greatness because of injury.

  25. dan

    I saw it too, thinking im late, would love to play against youse muggs :)

  26. Kevin

    Hey, for anyone who missed out on the Lohud league, 6pound8ouncebabyjoba.blogspot.com is hosting a league as well. We’ve got 4 spots left, so if you still want to play in a competitive league but missed this chance let me know at kevinseefried@ymail.com, and I’ll make a spot for you in the league.

  27. Christian

    Is there a lot of people who want to join. If the demand is high we can always start a second league. Is anyone else interested?

  28. Carlos

    Yeah, I’d be interested. I’d join if a second league was started!

  29. eric

    Pete, can u start up a fantasy baseball league thru lohud for us?

  30. erik

    id def be interested as well, the guys i played with at my job, were from another store, and are all no longer with the company. (scumbags)
