Posada to receive award

Peter Abraham
February

Heard something today well worth passing along. Jorge Posada will receive the community service award at the Ted Williams Museum dinner on March 20 at Tropicana Field.

Posada is being honored for the work his foundation does raising funds and awareness about craniosynostosis, a birth defect that his son has. Little Jorge has undergone a number of operations and is doing well. But Posada and his wife Laura have been tireless supporters of this cause and families who are going through the same thing they did.

“I’m excited because it’s for the foundation,” he sad. “Anything that helps out here, it’s great.”

You can learn more about the foundation at their website.

posted from the last thread. Sorry, have to pimp this classic game: :)

if anyone wishes to view a wonderful game today. Turn on the MLB channel. They are set to air a 1984 afternoon game between Cubs/Cardinals. The game was an absolute gem.

So, when everyone is given the day off, what do you do with yourself Pete?

    Tagging along with any players?

I have a family member who has craniosynostosis and back in the day the only one who was doing anything to promote awareness was Cher because of her involvement with the movie Mask.

Good to see Jorge and family being recognized for championing a cause to help people in the same situation as them.

  8. S.A.-The 2009 MLB season is almost here

    Good for Jorge

It is good to see players getting involved in things like this. The medical bills these families incur are astronomical. If there was anything that could be called fortunate about his son, it’s that Posada had the finances to deal with the situation.

pete is this like the worst work day you could imagine. i mean, you’re already running out of ways to describe what guys look like running around the track or laying on thier backs stretching thier legs cause thats all they’ve been doing for a week, and now, they take off and leave you guys hanging without even that to write about.

keep your chin up, they play a game wednesday (weather permitting).

in the absence of anything going on, thanks for vamping.

Maybe the writers should have had a pickup game.
