Reggie really helped Tino Martinez with his swing. Who is Reggie working with now?

  2. Statsney

Where Reggie and Yogi at practice today?

  3. Axel

Add Mr. October to the A-Rod advisor list.

  4. Y's Guy

Nobody would have laughed harder at that than Ford and Berra. Well, maybe Phil Linz, too.

  10. Chien Ming Wang Chung

that sounds like card show hijinx to me. mickey and yogi were probably doing a show together and mickey thought the guy was going to yogi next.

  11. S.A.-The 2009 MLB season is almost here

  12. Chien Ming Wang Chung

would have been nice to have a matched set of #^%$ yogi and #^%$ mickey signed by each other.

  13. GreenBeret7

Mantle, by the way is the one that instigated “Harmonicagate”.

I asked this before but never got an answer: Do guest instructors such as Yogi, Reggie et al really do any significant teaching or is it more for atmosphere and inspiration?

  17. Chien Ming Vase

interesting thing about the poll i threw up there this am. on the over/under question about the # of starters the yankees would use, 10 out of 14 said the yankees would use 8 or less starters this year.

thats almost impossible. for instance, in thier increadibly healthy (for starters) season last year, the rays had thier top 5 starters start 154 games. this is very rare. but how many starters did the rays use last year?

    the used 9.

so in answering the question, even a push is extremly optimistic.

  18. Chien Ming Vase

i stole the question from camden chat and for the orioles he had the over under set at 12.5

  19. GreenBeret7

    Nahhhh. that would have been

    “Dun, Dun, Dun, Duuuuuunn”

  26. R-Tek

    Anyone listening to Kay?

He’s down in Tampa… doing a GREAT job of setting the scene for the start of ST. Talking about how he talked to players and the atmosphere is so much different. A very good listen

  27. ANSKY

So, Rebecca, can you name that tune in 3 notes or not?

Before you were born there was a dumb TV show where … ah never mind. :)

  28. m

Alex’s list of advisor’s also include Pete Rose and Warren Buffet.

Games start tomorrow? Remember how we were all counting down the days to P&C? Jeez.

Yanks are going to face some rookie named Cecil(?). Pitchers will probably be ahead of the hitters.

Is Melky not making the trip? That means he’s a starter? ;)

  29. Hughes the Savior

    Cecil is supposedly a stud.

  30. Chien-Ming Vase

nate silver from baseball prospectus projects 58 homers total for arod in the last 5 years of his current contract and has him finishing with 730.

  31. Betsy

R-Tek, I’m listening to Kay – how great was that opening? I’m tempted to call him and tell him that it ISN’T just him ,that there IS a different vibe about this team – and fans can feel it. There is just a buzz on all the message boards I visit….Something magical is in the air – this isn’t just a fun team ,this is a really GOOD team. I love how Bruney was bored, so he just popped on over to AJ’s house and they went fishing. These guys actually like each other and want to hang out with each other – I’m giddy right now. The only thing that worries me is injuries – Edwar’s arm is very concerning to me – but I’m going to try not to let that drag me down.

The best news is that, per Kay, Mo feesl GREAT. Apparently his arm had been bothering him for 2 years, and now he can’t believe how good it feels now. I can’t believe Mo has done what he’s done with an aching arm…

I’m on hold for Kay now, lol.

  32. vtred

If Kay’s open didn’t get you pumped up, I don’t know what will. That was awesome. He didn’t tell us anything we didn’t hear already (about how great the guys are meshing and how happy everyone is), but he did give some great details and just further confirmed how different this clubhouse is.

  33. you gotta have faith (bronx zoo 2009)

“I love how Bruney was bored, so he just popped on over to AJ’s house and they went fishing.”

lol thats such a great story. :) also makes me giddy.

  34. m

Edwar’s injury may not be a precursor to surgery, but it is troubling that the condition is still persisting after a winter’s worth of rest.

Not trying to be cold or anything, but Eddie’s injury may make Girardi’s decision easier. It could also improve the bullpen because it opens up the door for a higher-ceiling guy.

I know everyone wants to reward Eddie for a good year last year, but did anyone ever have total confidence when you saw him come into a game? It was all or nothing with him. Strike out or moonshot. You can only fool major leaguers for so long, the less exposure Eddie gets at the Yankee’s expense the better.

  35. R-Tek

Yeah Betsy – I’m so giddy right now lol. That was excellent

  36. Zolio

I hope they podcast that opening, so I can listen to it. I caught the tail end of it.

  37. Y26

per Kay – The Yankees love Albaladejo

Girardi wants Gardner to win the job, Cashman wants Melky to win it… interesting

  38. tampayank

So Kay was/is actually positive? He told us AROD’s career was essentially over last week. Probably b/c he’s down in Tampa, if he’s doing the show from SF… I’m sure he doesn’t want to be too negative…any more details?
