Fans were not allowed in today. The Yankees worked on pop-ups and now are taking BP. No live pitching.

if the yankees are working on pop-ups, arod coulda just stayed home as long as jeter is there.

Pete, Is it strange that they cloesed the practice?

What’s the deal with Alex fearing popups? Is that more myth than fact?

With the steroid stuff going on, all they showed from the Rangers time was highlights of popups.

CF, unless Melky hits .125, he’s making the team. I’d love to bring Gardner north, but can’t see the Yankees carrying only 6 relievers or leaving behind the extra catcher. Did someone say that Gardner beat out Melky last spring training or was that another position (Ransom? pitcher?)

Is it true that a-rod is yelling out “I got it” with every popup?

m it was a pitcher it was scott patterson he was unhittable and for sum reason he wasnt in the opening day roster he deserve it

arod is alway just a little late breaking for pop ups and jeters already on the laster line to wherever its coming down. jeter is the best ive ever seen at popups, so it makes arod look worse than he actually is.

    yankeefan,

You’re right on Patterson. Not the one I’m thinking of, it was actually mentioned in a recent thread.

    Patterson’s gone?

Hmm very strange no fans were allowed into ballpark today. why??

  11. GreenBeret7 February 24th, 2009 at 1:05 pm

Patterson was a 28 year old junk baller that got by throwing that stuff in the independent leagues and Double AA.

“What’s the deal with Alex fearing popups? Is that more myth than fact? ”

He doesn’t fear popups, he just isn’t very good at tracking/catching them. It’s a little tricky to do and Alex usually makes the play but you can tell he’s uncomfortable trying to catch pop-ups.

A third baseman who was on WFAN- I think Nettles – said popups were the weakest part of his game too.

arod says popups are not his strongest point. but jeter is so good it doesn’t matter.

Would that include no media as well? I think having ‘black out’ days is a good idea – give the guys some space.

Thank God for the infield fly rule.

  18. Gary February 24th, 2009 at 3:40 pm

It’s always been a closed practice the day before the 1st exhibition game, home or away.
