thank you for this, really helpful… cant wait to start watching

  2. Giuseppe Franco

A little disappointing that the MLB Network isn’t televising more Yankee games.

I know they have the WBC and all – but there’s only one game that YES isn’t already televising.

    Bummer.

Pete just said there are no games being televised on ESPN this Spring.

And March 5th is a Thursday – not Wednesday. March 20th is a Friday – not a Thursday.

    Get with the program, dude.

  5. Jermaine D'Twan Monroe-Gibbons

    thanks for an uneventful day

    NO PIZZA FOR YOU!

  6. Chien-Ming Vase

this is funny. a cbs poll about arod shows that 41% have an unfavorable opinion of him, 17% have a favorable rating, 27% are undecided…

… AND 10% SAID THEY HADNT HEARD ENOUGH!

  7. Phil

And the media is focused on the 10%. Brilliant.

  8. GreenBeret7

What happened to the other 5%?

  9. you gotta have faith (bronx zoo 2009)

    good qoute from teix:
“Every team I’ve been on, it’s been ‘I hope we have a good year and I hope we have a chance to make the playoffs.’ This team is, ‘We should win the World Series.’ Nothing else is acceptable.”

  10. max

will there ever be a regular season game that is televised on mlb network, but not YES?

  11. m

There’s a guy who does a show on sporting news radio and he was going off. Saying A-rod’s spitting in the USA’s eye, blah, blah, blah.

I don’t feel insulted at all. If he wants to play for the DR, that’s his choice.

Besides, A-rod has enough players to field his own team. Team A-rod. They’ve got enough lawyers to make sure all their bases are covered. :)

  12. wood is good

Now the next major question to answer: When do those Cubs exhibition tickets go on sale??

  13. Jason

A-Rod wouldn’t start ahead of David Wright if he was on the USA team, IMO.

  14. Aaron(the better Aaron)

Jason that is an idiotic statement.

  15. John

According to the MLB Network website they are also showing a game this Saturday (February 28)

YGHave Faith, thanks for posting that quote. The new guys are going to have to get used to that “win or else” attitude that emanates from the top of and permeates the whole organization and the fan base. I don’t love that philosophy, but I admit that if you are a competitor, you’d have to at least appreciate it. A competitor wants to face the best and beat them – this is what gets their juices flowing. I sense that our new guys are true competitors who will thrive in an environment that challenges them to be the best they can be…..

  17. pat

“What happened to the other 5%?”

Those are the unnamed sources and former teammates and friends of A-Rod that have contributed to news stories for the past few weeks so it was a conflict to include them in the polling.

  18. ray (sox fan)

    m

How are you? I will have to agree with you on this one, if Arod wants to play for the DR then why does that have to be spitting in the eye of the USA?

Your Lakers are looking good. It is being reported that the C’s and Marbury have a verbal agreement. That is a bit scary to me.

  19. sweet lou

Nice pic of Swisher and his girlfriend (?) at a Chicago Bears game

ray – Marbury will do fine for you guys. He is playing for a contract and wants to spite the Knicks (and world in general) by winning a championship.

He could be a HUGE X-Factor for you guys. He still has 20/10 potential and as a 6th man would be deadly. He’ll behave.

  21. Oh no

I hate to be the ones to tell you this but Pete is going to annouince soon that he is leaving lohud and cover the Phillies for some philly paper. Congrats, Pete, but we are going to miss you!

Wilson, remind you of anyone in the baseball world, just exchange the Knicks for the Red Sox? :)

  23. Zach Lawrence

    I hope you are kidding

Wood maybe they will go on sale the same time single game tickets go on sale dont hold your breath they are still dealing with relocations

OT – and speaking of newspapers -

    http://uk.reuters.com/article/.....3Y20090225

This stuff REALLY makes me sad. Where is it going to end? Is it because of the economy or is is because of the spiffy technology of the internet – you know, the entity that will render everyone and everything obsolete at some point. Why resort to hard copy when you can read it on the internet?

Sometimes I think that we are going to technology ourselves right off the earth.

    :(

“I hate to be the ones to tell you this but Pete is going to annouince soon that he is leaving lohud and cover the Phillies for some philly paper. Congrats, Pete, but we are going to miss you!”

    say it aint so!! please

  27. Tantron Willoughby

Trisha, Perhaps the 7% that stopped reading it went online to a news source that is less biased. Reading that rag is akin to receiving news from the Pravda. The days of liberal monopoly in newsprint are over.

  28. Peter Abraham

It ain’t so. Much like Jorge Posada in 2007, I had a nice lunch with another team and then decided to stay where I was.

  29. JMZ

Doesn’t sound like it would be a great career move given that both the Philly papers are bankrupt.

  30. Tantron Willoughby

Peter, was it a last minute decision like Bernie after he talked to the Sawx?

  31. Rishi

Well THANK GOD for that – how would I ever make it through the work day!!!

  32. trisha - Want the truth? Read Canseco's book.

Tantron, it isn’t so much that it’s the San Francisco Chronicle as it is what it represents about newspapers across the country in general. I know that the Providence Journal has been laying off employees for the last year or so and just had another wave. It just doesn’t bode well for the printed media. You can understand how it happens too. How many people read their news online and don’t bother with hard copy anymore? It’s endemic, as well as epidemic. It’s like a tidal wave that’s pretty far away at this point but coming, and there’s nothing you can do to stop it.

    It stinks.

  33. ANSKY

So, game threads finally start the day after tomorrow?
Now there’s something to look forward to.
Hmmm … what better things could I do with my time?
I could always change diapers …

-The Yankees’ three new star players may have contracts totaling nearly a half a billion dollars, but it appears the team is in luck, because they couldn’t have given that nearly-half-a-billion to three more down-to-earth dudes. CC Sabathia spent most of his clubhouse time today hanging out among the relievers, way across the room from his corner locker, chatting about pitching and busting chops. And he just left with Nick Swisher and Brian Bruney to go fishing. Tino Martinez, here as a spring instructor, was raving about what a pleasure it’s been to work with Mark Teixeira. And more than one person made a comment to me about AJ Burnett’s work ethic and seriousness of purpose. Assuming health, the Yankees’ big winter bucks appear to have been well spent. The last thing they’d need right now is one of the new guys coming in all high-maintenance and demanding a bunch of attention.

*Hmm, seems like many Yankees like to go fishing. I read another board that CC is going fishing tomorrow and it’s going to be on YES?

Also, I wonder what this “hip problem” is that Long is referring to with Alex – an injury? If so, I wonder why we haven’t heard anything about it….

  35. trisha - Want the truth? Read Canseco's book.

“Hmmm … what better things could I do with my time?
I could always change diapers …”

Is this reference to what we’re going to have to start hearing again once Arod meets with MLB officials?

  36. trisha - Want the truth? Read Canseco's book.

FWIW, David Letterman has Ben Rothelsberger and Steve Martin on tonight. That sounds like a pretty good show.

  37. ANSKY

I wonder … does Youkilis change his own diaper after each time he faces Joba?

  38. trisha - Want the truth? Read Canseco's book.

Wow did I massacre that spelling! (Ben R.)

  39. Tantron Willoughby

Trisha..is it possible that the global warming cabal will rejoice for the trees that were spared and yet overlook the increased illiteracy? Reading on the puter is hardly a replacement for a paper/book and is very difficult for me.

  40. trisha - Want the truth? Read Canseco's book.

“I wonder … does Youkilis change his own diaper after each time he faces Joba?”

Seriously that is going to be at least interesting to check out. It is a very weird thing – though I can understanding how that could happen to anyone who looks at Youklis!

    :D

  41. DT

How would anyone know Pete had an interview or lunch with a Philly paper?

Is Ms. Roberts working overtime with the leakers?

  42. trisha - Want the truth? Read Canseco's book.

Tantron, it is a double-edged sword. But there’s no question that revenues are down and monster.com is the way to go with advertising. But then hey, there aren’t any jobs anyway, right? Maybe when the economy picks up we’ll see a resurgence of newspaper revenues.

    I can dream, can’t I.

  43. trisha - Want the truth? Read Canseco's book.

“How would anyone know Pete had an interview or lunch with a Philly paper?”

I actually wondered the same thing. Pete’s scoop was scooped!

    Phil……….

  45. trisha - Want the truth? Read Canseco's book.

Hmmm. Obviously a repeat on Letterman, and why wouldn’t it be. I guess you wouldn’t wait weeks to have Ben R. on. But this is how I figured it out. Dave kept making reference to “today is Groundhog’s Day. I know that isn’t today!

    re: beer in bleachers

When I went on my private tour of the “old” stadium… I was talking to the tour guide about the new stadium. She said that you could now get drunk in the bleacher section and that there would be a bar there. I don’t know whether or not you have to drink at the bar or if you could bring it back to the bleachers, but there will be alcohol available for fans in the bleachers.

  47. Ram On

Is anyone else deeply disturbed about the latest story involving Andy Phillips? Blech…

  48. Tarheelyank

    Ram On

No. It wasn’t him. The article I read said it was an impersonator.

I’ll try this again, I’ve stated it a bunch of times.

NO, you cannot bring your beer/alchy beverage back to your bleacher seat. No beer/alchy in the ACTUAL seating areas.

But YES, you CAN go to the bars behind the bleacher sections and get your drink on.
