Randy what sense are you making...It sounds like you had a conclusion and tried to find a source for it.
Girardi shows his Rotation and you question Cashman's plan? Beyond the starting 5 which is the best in baseball...The Yankees have 3 kids with major league experience who have had success at the major league level, ready to go.
Why does Hughes need half the season to not be rushed? He has pitched in the Majors last year and the year before and had success in both when not injured. He comes up and there is no pressure to be the man anymore...just do his job.
Aceves and Kennedy are both 6th men that alot of teams would love to have.
So Cashman doesn't have enough depth with 8 guys...3 aces, 1 solid veteran, 2 blue chip kids who have ML success and 2 very good prospects with ML experience.
Silly.

What I'm saying is you can't sit here in hindsight and say Cashman didn't do something in the fall because you can't name someone he could have gotten. This has nothing to do with your opinion that they don't have a #6 starter. I don't necessarily agree with it, but whatever. The problem is bashing Cashman about it when you can't name someone who could have filled that role.

" Also, you can’t bring this up in the future either to bash Cashman or say ‘I told you so’ because you give no viable options to meet your ‘6th starter’ roll."

rodg12-

i don't have to come up with a viable 6th starter simply because you somehow decide i need to. i'm pointing out that the the yankees don't have a good 6th starter. they don't. they have a bunch of #8's.

the time for cashman to come up with a good 6th starter was in november and december.

i'm supposed to come up with someone now because cashman didn't do something in the fall ? i fail to see the logic in that.

Why the dude? Treat me like an adolescent again because I challenge your opinions which you can't back up. Also, you can't bring this up in the future either to bash Cashman or say 'I told you so' because you give no viable options to meet your '6th starter' roll. Well, I guess you can. I can't tell you what to do, right? Fine, go ahead. Do whatever you want. You'll just look pretty bad doing it though because we'll know it's meaningless.

"randy – I insulted you by asking you to back up your claims that they could have gotten a #6 starter by naming someone and then telling you to drop it if you couldn’t? That’s an insult? "

rodg12-

you said ," Please give me a guy that would have signed on to be our 6th starter that is better than what we have. Otherwise, stop talking about it."

you don't tell me anything dude. is that clear enough for you?

William Buckner
February 25th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
“He may not open the season in Baltimore, so unless he destroys every pitcher when/if he does come up, I’ll stay with my picks.”

That definately the case to hold off arb years. But as a catcher he’s got a built in advantage with numbers he puts up. That and the same thing happened to Longoria and it worked out ok.

------------------------------------------------------------

I'll use the same BS excuse that the "experts" use for Montero....he's too big to be a catcher.

Wieter's going to be good, but, just don't think it's going to be this year.

I think the problem with hughes has been injuries. He blew out his hamstring while pitching a no hitter in only his second ML start. He was not the same that yr after and lost velocity cuz he wasn't pushing off his leg enough. He somehow developed a stress fracture in his rib while having a string crappy starts. Sabathia had a rough beginning of the yr as well as burnett yet as the yr continued they were able to log some good starts and make up the difference. Hughes never got an opportunity to make up for his bad starts, he pitched 22 innings and had to start all over again after rest and rehab. Coming back he did have 2 decent starts and might have been on his way toward a string of successfull outings.
