i didn't think it was possible, but it looks like Boras is handling this worse than he did A-Rod's free-agency announcement...

I think team's hate bidding against themselves adn so they like calling Boras' bluff. But it is dangerous. Look at what happened with Tex and the Red Sox. They thought they were calling his bluff, and then he became a Yankee.

Teams have got to be careful when trying to read the Boras BS o-meter.

Although the single-minded method of Scott Bore's Ass has been successful in the past, he wasn't the shining star agent with A-Rod's last contract and Manny will likely not get a deal equal to the Dodger's last offer anywhere after the season begins. Of course, those loyal to Bore's Ass and Manny will put a positive spin on whatever outcome to calm their over-inflated egos, even if Manny would have been paid more just playing out what could have been a final year in LA.

Dodgers with Manny=winning team.
Dodgers without Manny=losing team.
He hits in the clutch.
He will sign with the Dodgers only because the Yankees are the only team that could offer more money but they don’t want Manny.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Yanks are stupid. They should sign him, bat him behind ARod, for the best 3-4-5 in forever, and deal Nady. Manny is the perfect anti-ARod, and he would absorb a lot of attention away from ARod, and also ensure the latter gets actual pitches near the strike zone to hit.

The deal he turned down has a ton of deferred money in it (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3938665). If I were Boras I'd try to continue to negotiate that too.

We'll see how sorry Manny is when he finally gets his deal.

Boras does not misjudge the market for his biggest-name clients. I would not bet against him, no matter how absurd he looks to us.

Something to keep in mind: Even if Manny ends up with the same 2 year, $45 million deal the Dodgers originally offered and that he declined, he still made a killing in this market and lost nothing by unsuccessfully holding out for a better deal.

I'll bet Manny is sorry he ever dropped his previous agent (Greg Genske) and hired Scott Boras.
He may not have pulled his antics last year in Boston which Boras did nothing to discourage and John Henry might have picked up the 2 option years of his contract.
