Jorge Posada showed why the Yankee missed him so much last season in yesterday’s victory.

The Yankees have set A-Rod straight about his cousin. This notebook also has updates on the WBC, George Steinbrenner and cheap tickets.

The Journal News received some good news this week.

Our daily sports section was named top 10 in the country in our circulation category (100,000-250,000) in the Associated Press Sports Editors annual contest.

In the New York market, only The Journal News and the New York Times were so honored. It’s a testament to the dedication of sports editor Susie Arth and her deputy, Joe Erwin. This is a tough time for newspapers but we keep plugging away.

My friend Sam Borden won an individual writing award for a breaking news story he did. Congrats to him. Congrats also to our pal Bob Klapisch of the The Record. He was honored for column writing.

Congrats to your Sports Dept., Pete!

Jorge sure looked good yesterday. It would be such a boost to the team to have his presence in the linuep again.

  3. Fran

Congratulations on your honor from AP.

Congrats to the Journal News, some good news given what is going on with papers folding.

“Girardi explained later that the Yankees are working with Hughes on working inside to batters.”

Excellent news. Not that I want Yankee pitchers to hit opposing batters, but I want them not to be afraid of working the inner half of the plate. And if occasionally one of those batters winds up with a bruise, well there are worse things that could happen.

    And congrats to the newspaper.

If APSE had a blogger category (any time the industry wakes up out of its restful slumber regarding new technology would be a good idea), you’d clean up, Pete.
