Wang is really an under the radar type of top pitcher. 19, 19, and 9 wins (injury year) hey, he gets the job done! He probably would have won 19 again last year and walah, we're in the playoffs!

GB, Pepi make a crucial error on a throw from Clete…Ford actually outpitched Sandy in game 4…Mantle did hit a shot in Game 4….Yanks team hitting was something like a buck fifty….Learned that the game is all about pitching after that series….Yanks revealed Downing and Bouton that Series….

Ford was spectacular in game 4. He should have drilled Frank Howard twice in that game. Hard to believe that LA's worst starter in that series was Koufax. Drysdale and Podres were marvelous.

I think Joba's winning 20+ games because as a # 5 pitcher he'll get a lot of favorable matchups. Thoughts?

Right now on the MLB network there doing highlights of World Series…Right now is the 59 series, then the Yanks / Reds from 61 then Yanks / Dodgers from 63….If anyone wants to see Sandy Koufax check out the 63 series…My first time to a World Series was Game 1 of the 63 series…Koufax whiffed 15 Yankees on their way to sweeping the Bombers….Yanks featured Ford, Downing , Bouton ( both very young and very good )..Ford throws a 2 hitter I think in Game 4 and looses to Koufax again…..It was then that I understood that good pitching beats good hitting….The Yanks had a great hitting team in 63…Moose Skowran was now the Dodgers 1b man….GB, I hope you’re out there and get this in time…..
——————————————————————————————
Yeah, watching it, now. If I had not been in class during the first game of the ‘63 Series, I would have cried. Mantle got a little revenge in game 4, though with an absolute rocket into the center field bleachers at Dodger Stadium. Damned Frank Howard, anyway.

That Skowren for Stan Williams trade really didn’t help either team during the season, but, to nobody’s surprise, Skowren came up big in the Series.

Glad Wang is well. Look at Melky Cabrera! I thought he was going to stand aside and let Gardner take CF, but he apparently had other plans. I still hope Gardner wins because he's faster, but if Melky's better he's better. At this point, Gardner's still winning, though.
