Does Arods complement of Reyes equal a criticism of Jeter? It seems that's the tone of this piece. If that's the case, this how I would read into other comments within the piece:

Damn those non-Yankee players complementing Jeter and dissing their teammates.

David Wright seemed to me to say he hasn't played with people he could "try to emulate, certain guys that you want to learn from both on and off the field.” What a diss to his Mets teammates.

And that troublemaker Dustin Pedroia saying that he has not played with a "special player” before.

And how strange it is that both of them said they wanted to "pick his brains", were they coached?, did the prepare their comments? They must be frauds!

No, they are just two players complementing another player, it's just that we haven't chosen to dissect their words and read intent into each statement.

Please, less hysteria. Rodriguez is an important piece but a trip to the DL on his part, Betsy, would not mean the team is 'dead in the water'.

St. John, I couldn't care less what the beat reporters have to say about the Jeter/Alex relationship...there is no point in beating this dead horse. WE will just have to agree to disagree.

Keep talking alex. We love it! The media loves it. Look how many comments this story has so far. Pete wouldnt know what to do with his time if you ever decided to shut your trap. I'd love the attention too if I hads cameras and reporters in my face every freaking minute.
******sarcasm****

Pete? do you think you can write about alex for the next 9 years? At some point you are going to burn yourself out. Quit while your ahead.

A cyst on the hip shouldn't hinder him too much. He'll have it removed, rest a little while for it to heal and come back and mash...and make stupid comments.

Pinstripes Jay I notice that every time Pete posts something controversial about Arod and posters take exception you show up to defend Pete and trash the posters. It is obvious that you are an Arod hater. That is your right. I'm not saying that there aren't times you might even be justified.

However, there might also be times when you are the one who just has it wrong. For you to say that Pete is 100% objective about Arod just makes you look ridiculous. I think even Pete would admit that sometimes he might be a little on the heavy-handed side regarding Arod. For example, Pete editorialized the comment by absolutely suggesting that since Reyes is a SS, the comment was meant as an affront to Jeter. It very well may have appeared that way to him at the time.

Well now we have more context regarding the timing of the comment. Without seeing Curry's take I had already questioned how Reyes played today thinking that might have prompted the comment. Later Curry suggested that Arod was merely trying to be gracious.

Maybe a little more objectivity on your part is called for regarding Arod. As someone already suggested Arod might be noted for saying dumb things, but he isn't Ted Bundy.

"only 9 more years of this embarrassment, thank god."

I read somewhere that he called Kuric for a career advice. Maybe he retires and does a reality show. Anna Nicole lite.

WWWhat???!?

Arod may have a real health issue?

Nahh... Nothing is more news worthy than A-rod dissing Jeter. Well, that what it sounds like on paper.

You go, Pete!
