There is certainly plenty to talk about with the Yankees. So be on LoHud.com tomorrow at 11 a.m. for a live video chat from Tampa.

Head over to our Mogulus Channel with any questions you might have and I’ll do my best to answer them.

Thanks.

  1. RGR

    Too depressed to watch

  2. Drive 4-5

Why in the world wasnt A Rod evaluated in November? Girardi said A Rod experienced hip soreness at the end of last season. The Yankees should have been smart enough to have their most expensive asset thoroughly examined as soon as the season ended.

For an organization with so much money they sure are stupid at times. Maybe the same fool who decided not to get A Rod checked designed the obstructed view seats in the bleachers or co-ordinated the season ticket relocation debacle.

  3. Sean

    That’s exactly right Phil,

The labrum in the should keeps the shoulder together, that’s not the case with the labrum in the hip.

  4. DT

If Arod can’t play, Cash just needs to get the best glove man he can.

I don’t need any Rich McKinney flashbacks.

  5. Barry Lane

He is just the team’s third baseman. Stop feeling the pain. Management knows what it’s doing. The guy is an over rated ball player, an obviously deeply flawed human being, and seems somehow to put himself behind the eight ball in perpetuity. The only serious error this management team has made over the last dozen years, and by serious I mean unreasonable and indefensible, is resigning this guy after he opted out.

    Barry Lane

  6. Boston Dave

    DT,

I agree with that. Rolen would be ok with me (whether he hits great or not).

  7. A-List

I could see Cody Ransom developing into our own Scott Boras… a gritty gutty player who knows how to win and get his uniform dirty.

  8. Boston Dave

    RGR,

    I was thinking similarly.

I don’t know if I can watch a video chat filled with “what do the yankees do now” questions while Pete refutes the “let’s trade Ian Kennedy and Kei Igawa for every 3b under the sun” comments.

  9. Boston Dave

    A-List,

I think you mean Scott “Ferocious” Brosius.

  10. Danny

It’s not carrying Ransom that;s the problem… it’s carrying Ransom, Gardner, and potentially Molina. Throw in the fact that Nady (the inferior player to Swish) is probably going to start and you have a NL-type bottom of the order.

If we start Ransom, we either need to go out and get Cameron or put Damon in CF. You just can’t give away outs in the AL like that, especially when the rest of the team starts notoriously slow.

  11. RGR

    Boston Dave,

Exactly. Considering it would take Phil Hughes + various other pretty good to good prospects to pick up a decent 3Bman, its just too stressful to watch the casual Yankee fans bombard Pete with ridiculous trade ideas

“Melky for Figgins, were the Yankees, it can get done”

  12. Boston Dave

    Danny,

    true.

at least they have a solid pitching staff capable of keeping the Yankees close in every game they play.

I don’t think Ransom is a long term answer either. It’s ARod or (Rolen/Freddy Sanchez/someone else).

  13. O-Dawg

    Agree 100%.

People think the Yankees can just pick up quality players like Beltre, Blalock, Figgins etc. for Veras and Edwar. It’s hilarious.

People here don’t even want Veras in their bullpen yet they think he can get you an above average MLB player.

  14. trisha - As long as you're in pinstripes, Kei, I've got your back.

Drive, I think the problem is that what Arod reported was stiffness and not soreness. I think the soreness, if there was any, came on as the cyst got larger. But they were operating under the premise that Arod had stiffness and that isn’t unusual at the end of a season. Probably the fact that it hadn’t gone away on its own is what caused them to have it evaluated now.

  15. RGR

You can always pick the good Yankee fans from the casual ones on here by the trade proposals

  16. Boston Dave

the one guy the Yankees could be able to get without giving anything major is Scott Rolen.

He’s not the perfect replacement. Nobody not named David Wright is.

The point about Rolen is, it is the one scenario that gives the Yankees a good fielding 3b who is capable of putting up avg numbers offensively AND can be had in a strict salary dump.

  17. James (One of the Many)

I can remember 10 years ago when listening to sox fans talk of impending and unavoidable dismay and disaster seemed hilarious, now it sounds far too familiar around here. take a deep breath, they won 89 last year without teix, matsui and posada or any semblance of a decent rotation.

  18. Rick

Angelos is not going to help us out by giving us Mora.

And what exactly are we supposed to do with Scott Rolen once A-Rod comes back? He has another yr left on his deal and a horrible contract so we can’t just get rid of him. He gets disgruntled very easily, he won;t be happy with a bench role.

  19. R+

I’d sign up Grudzelanik too as depth. He said he would only play for a contender.

  20. Boston Dave

    Rick,

If Rolen does ok, they can eat half of his contract next offseason and trade him for an OF (which they’ll need).

You are looking for a perfect fit. There isn’t one.

Rolen, IMO, is the best one out there all things considered.

I’m personally holding out hope that Alex can play this season though.

  21. DT

Grudz will be 39 this June and has played 3b only 31 games in his entire career.

  22. yankeefan91 Arod fan Rooting For Team D.R

i wouldnt mind havin figgins on the yanks if he can get on base and steal bags and clutch hittin by the yanks it wouldnt be that bad

  23. Joe

I’d like to have Figgins but I doubt his price would be cheap. Same with Martin Prado. A guy with a sweet glove and speed would be my preference.

  24. Riley

    Yanks should go get Blalock

  25. Uni Man

You are the worst reporter on the Yankees beat. When was the last time you broke a story? Lose some weight. Maybe you’ll catch a scoop. Stop eating so much. Maybe then you’ll do some actual reporting.

    God you are a waste.

  26. VRTMattG35

I think most of these suggestions for 3rd baseman are stop gaps, (Rolen,Mora,Grez,Blalock etc…)which is fine but why not get someone that can help after ARod gets back not just when he is gone. I think the Yankees should come up with a trade for Chone Figgins, he gives u speed, good bad and a great glove in multiple positions. If Gardner or Melky don’t work out, u can plug him into the CF spot or just use him off the bench for a pinch hitter or a pinch runner late in games when u need someone to steal a bag and have some speed.
