How about Jeter moves to third and the yankees trade for Reyes to lead off and play shortstop? Will A-rod be happy then?

Great chat Peter, you’re the best.

Figgins can play CF when Arod comes back if we got him?

  12. Patrick March 6th, 2009 at 11:53 am

“Figgins can play CF when Arod comes back if we got him?”

Yeah he could but I doubt the Yankees could get Figgins.

He would be a great fit on the team but why would the Angels trade him? He would probably cost a few very good prospects to obtain which isn’t worth it IMO.

  13. m March 6th, 2009 at 11:59 am

I like the idea of Figgins, but is he a better defensive CF than Melky or Brett? Because his offense isn’t significantly better than either one.

But Figgins at third if and when Alex is out is a good idea to me.

As for when Alex comes, Figgins could be the super-sub that he is.

As for the Angels? I don’t think they’re totally wed to Figgins. They probably have a dozen wonderful prospects to replace him.

Several people have mentioned the economy. If teams start really hurting (and they will), maybe we can get some movement then. I don’t use blue chippers to get a replacement, though.

    m,

Maybe they aren’t “wed” to Figgins but what is the stimulus to trade him? He isn’t all that expensive and he has a nice role on the team. Unless the Yankees offer more than he is worth, they have no reason to trade him.

I’m sorry if I missed this from someone else, but the obvious thing to me is if ARod goes under the knife, the Yankees move Tex to 3rd and Swisher to 1B. Then your infield is set and now you need another OF who can hit or 1B/DH type that can back up Matsui/Swisher. Does this sound crazy?

depends on how you look at it though, i guess. Currently, Figgins makes more than what they’re paying Abreu (not sure of incentives though).

Is Figgins their starting 3B? I’m not sure… pretty much every depth chart i look at is different these days.

RayVT. I think tex was asked and said there’s a reason he no longer plays 3B…
