Jeter, Team USA waiting for action

Here’s why the Yankees aren’t crazy about the WBC:

Team USA played last Sunday against Venezuela. Since then they have played one game and won’t play again until tomorrow night against Puerto Rico in Miami.

So outside of four plate appearances as the DH on Wednesday in a meaningless game, Derek Jeter hasn’t had much to do other than cultivate his budding bromance with Dustin Pedroia.

Jeter will be ready for April 6; he knows what he needs to do. But it’s not fair to ask teams to give up their best players and then give them four plate appearances over a five-day period.
