Pudge signed with the Astros: 1 year $1.5 million with another $1.5 mil in bonuses.

Do the Yanks get a pick now?

By the way, I feel the opposite about A-Rod and the steroids. All 104 of them (with A-Rod) deserve the blame.

Peter-I did NOT say that because the Sox wanted A-Rod hurt, I want Pedroia hurt. What I DID say was that now that A-Rod IS hurt, I'm sure the BoSox fans are happy. I don't go to bed praying that the Sox get in some sort of horrific plane crash that destroys their whole team. However, when a player is injured on the Sox I AM glad that he can no longer hurt the Yankees. Pedroia has no horrible career-ending injury. But he can no longer help the Sox. Is it wrong to be glad that both teams are on more or less equal ground?
Anyway, the Yanks have had all their bad karma used up over the past few yrs.
And in football (I know it's a different sport, but I just think that the athletes are a bit more honest) the players will tell you that if someone gets injured in the game, their goal is to hit them hard enough to get them OUT.
So this makes them bad people for hoping their team has the best chance to win? Unfortunately people get injured, but it's part of the game. In soccer, a sport I used to play, you play hard. If someone on the other team is hurt, good for you and too bad for them.
I will NOT feel guilty for being glad that someone on ANOTHER team can't play vs. my team!
Rant over.

I'm certain that anyone who has ever been in sports understands that you never wish for an injury, it's bad karma..That being said, I'm certain a few Yankee players wouldn't mind when playing vs Toronto over the past few seasons, that when AJ Burnett's turn came around that there wouldn't been a dry eye if he developed a blister or woke up that morning with a little stiffness......Other than that, the rest of it is bush...

"The Yankees have a $205 million payroll. They need other teams to have injuries too?"

Root for your guys, don’t be the kind of person who roots for bad things to happen to other people. That kind of karma will come back and bite you."

I agree. It isn't bad enough that people jump all over the fact that the Yankees have endless resources - and they do. The last thing I ever want to hear is that the reason the Yankees won was because another team had injuries. The mark of a real champion is winning with the most even playing field possible. That's why I am also in favor of a salary cap and that's why I was thrilled to see the Rays win the division (if the Yankees couldn't.)

I truly want to see an even playing field and hard-nose competition with the truly best team coming out on top. I have hated the Yankee injuries because they have had an unequivocal effect on the Yankees' seasons. I definitely don't wish that on any other team. I want to win as fair and square as possible (under the circumstances of obviously uneven resources, something I did not create.)

Didn't anybody else's mom tell them two wrongs don't make a right?

So because Red Sox wanted A-Rod hurt, you want Pedroia hurt? That makes no sense. So because 103 other guys took steroids, it's OK A-Rod did?

I hear that over and over again and I don't get it.

Believe me when I tell you, none of the players would ever root for somebody else to get hurt and I would hope that any fan would have enough class to feel the same way. If your team isn't good enough to beat an opposing team that is healthy, than you don't deserve to win.

The Yankees have a $205 million payroll. They need other teams to have injuries too?

Pena is an excellent defender.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

So true. He is the most impressive infielder I have seen, and mentally strong. Although at-bats can't be taken too seriously yet, I'm glad to see he continues his plate improvement of last season. I will be extremely disappointed if he doesn't get the utility infielder's role. This is a guy who, by himself, can take up our infield another notch.
