A.J. Burnett was perfect yesterday and his arrival in New York could be a case of perfect timing.
Jorge Posada will catch today for the first time. This notebook also has updates on Mariano Rivera, Robinson Cano, Damaso Marte, Jason Johnson, Edwar Ramiez and word on some cuts.
Late report today. Back later with the lineup.

AJ will be great this year… I can foresee it.
Well if there’s anything wrong with Cano they have to go get Grudzielanek. He can play 2B and SS and might be a better option at 3B than Rasom.
If I could pick one guy to have a great next two weeks it would definitely be Jorge. He really changes the length of the lineup dramatically when you can go from one of the weaker hitting catchers in the game to one of the best.
One thing about AJ, for all the talk about him being injury prone he has averaged 183 IP for the past 4 seasons. Look it up.
I’ll take that from him this year. Plus, a guy like him who misses bats is a good fit for the Yanks fielders and a good thing to have in October.
