A happy St. Patrick’s Day to all our Irish friends out there, particularly the Foley family.

Xavier Nady and Nick Swisher have become pretty good friends. Meanwhile, they’re fighting for playing time at an important stage of their careers.

Robinson Cano and Damaso Marte came away with good news from their MRIs. This notebook also has updates on Chien-Ming Wang, CC Sabathia, Phil Hughes, Kei Igawa, Mariano Rivera, Zach Kroenke and John Rodridguez,

Joba Chamberlain has agreed to answer questions from readers of the LoHud Yankees Blog and The Journal News.

Here is how it works: You have until Wednesday at 6 p.m. to submit one question via e-mail. I will pick the 10 best questions and ask them to Joba later this week.

The answers — and audio — will appear on the blog later this week, probably on Saturday morning.

Only questions submitted via e-mail will be accepted. One per person. The answers will appear exclusively on this blog.

    happy st pats day!
the lack of coverage from mlb.com and mlb channel of yank games drives me nuts!
why cany mlb.com have at least audio for every game? 100$ some dollars not enough?
I have to get direct tv now for YES i guess..

“I have to get direct tv now for YES i guess..”

If YES shows a game, it’s on MLB.TV as well. So I don’t get your point here…
It’s not mlb.com’s fault if no radio channels or tv stations broadcast the game.

    Good article, Pete – thanks!

It’s nice to read about a little friendly competition – Swish and Nady seem like complete opposites, though, lol. They will both get plenty of ABs this season and I’m glad the Yankees kept them both.

“They will both get plenty of ABs this season and I’m glad the Yankees kept them both.’

Very true. This stuff works itself out through injury, rest, etc. Was it 2006 when both Shef and Matsui went down. Would’ve been nice to have this kind of depth then.

    jdjr, where do you live?

here is a site that lists all of the Yankee radio affiliates. It has worked for me in the past.

Who knew the Yankees had a radio affiliate in Alaska?

Happy St. Pete’s Day! errr. St. Patrick’s Day!

From the last thread on the A-rod thing. The picture is nothing, but I think I know why A-rod is so screwed up.

His mother thought that playing in the WBC was more important than being the first NBA player of Dominican descent. :P

If you can stomache it, there’s a George King article on Cano being contrite about not telling the Yankees about his shoulder at the beginning of the month.

There’s also a little blurb about Marte being detained by the policia in Puerto Rico. He denies the SI report.

Also, Mo scheduled to throw 20-25 pitches tonight.

“Nady has played all three spots in the outfield and a little third base.”

    Pete -

How well does he do at third? I might have missed it, but I don’t think I’ve seen any mention of him possibly filling in for A-Rod.

Is there any discussion among the Yankees? Any practice time at third? If not, why not?

Yankees should tell Wang in 2008 SP the same as Red Sox told Matsuzaka at his debut in 2007 “stand still, not to swing” either walk or strike out. His first at bat was a walk in 2007 season game.

Theo seems smarter in term of how he got Matusaka(vs. Igawa)and treat Matuszaka(vs. Wang).

I don’t know whether the idea behind the pic with the mirror ‘kiss’ is that, or if it’s supposed to look like one of those promo pics taken before a boxing match where the two guys ‘going to war’ pose jaw-to-jaw. Boxers do get pretty close for those stare-down pics.

You know … either the “He’s his own enemy” or “He’s fighting against himself” thing. Just a guess on a different perspective.

i wish that list of Yankee radio affiliates had cities listed next to the stations. it’s just a bunch of letters and numbers, unless i look each of them up individually. it would be great for road trips…

  15. mko March 17th, 2009 at 7:53 pm

jdjr: You’re probably not reading this, but what you’re saying is not true – there have been ST games from YES on MLB.TV and radio as well…
