"Meanwhile, I’m not suggesting Alex isn’t a good player. He is. But it’s counter productive to winning to have one player command 15 percent of the payroll. It never works."

Yeah, Babe Ruth waves hello Pete. Please, please try and think through what your post before you actually do it, that way you will bed saved looking like a clown. Have you really lost that much baseball sense being around the players?

I read through the comment section and I find it very interesting.

I supported A-Rod up until I heard about the steroids ... then he lost a lot of my support ... however, and this is a big however, he's still in pinstripes ... so for another 9 years he still has my support ... maybe not the same diehard kind, but my support nonetheless.

I think what a lot of people have an issue with is that although this is Pete's blog and he has the authority and right to say whatever he pleases ... it's also a blog where Yankee fans like to hang out and read about their team ... and Pete does an excellent job on reporting all the news about the Yankees faster than anyone else on the internet ... but what Pete needs to understand is that sometimes Yankee fans get tired of listening to the same commentary about a player over and over again ... it's going to be 9 more years ... that's a long time ... it takes a whole lot of energy to dislike a person for 9 more years.

Also, I know Pete injects the A-Rod comments pretty frequently, but be honest, they are very deserved. I imagine 90% of the players on the team would say the same things. Just look at how they reacted to the Details spread!

If this whole steriods mess (and now hooker mess) had never cropped up and A-Rod had spent spring training doing something respectable (or even just working hard in camp) then I imagine he would get his due props...but the way things have gone, he just hasn't deserved those props lately. one thing I'll give him credit on is his apparent desire to work through his rehab and get back to the team!

I don't think the Yanks need A-Rod to win another WS as Pete suggested. But I also think that he could very well help us win at least one WS over the span of his contract.

That said, he's going to need to stop being a major distraction in order to really help the team. You can say that kind of off the field stuff doesn't effect the other players on the team but I would disagree. Look at how much more iritated Jeters gets (and some other players as well) every time he has to answer a question about A-Rod. I bet the team would enjoy the locker room atmosphere more and be a lot more comfortable without those questions all the time. I think that would lend a hand to at least a little more success as a team on the field. I also think the more questions A-Rod puts on himself, the more pressure he will feel to produce, which has not been a good thing for him before. First move IMO has to be getting rid of the majority of the PR staff he has put together and start acting like a normal person. Rebuild some bridges with team mates and lean on them for support in place of the PR staff...

Is not a "hate fest", but the sarcasm in the posts about Alex are a little tiring now.

I would like a post about Rodriguez with no sarcasm, and no Hank references... Just MHO.

Good point. If the Yankees didn't have all that money tied up in A-Rod they'd have been able to sign Sabathia, Teixeira and Burnett.

Pete and Coach B. vs. Francesa and Coach P. - Live on my radio show. (I'll do anything for ratings)
