Sheffield as a utility player? Might as well add Ayman al-Zawahiri to the roster whil we're at it.

Meanwhile, the Yankees beat the Reds, 6-3, improving to 21-10-1 this spring.

“Did we clinch the Grapefruit League title?” one player said in the clubhouse. “Let’s party!”

Sheffield was unhappy in being an every day DH. He wants to play the field. Why would he be happy as a utility player? And trust me, you do not want an unhappy Gary Sheffield.

He's making 14 million without even playing. He's not desperate to take any job just to be on a team. He wants to play every day and play the field.

So who said this?

Hopefully not Joba as tomorrow he's set to stand tall before the man.

m1kew

ARod should be very pleased that the team is able to manage without him. Why would he want to return to a team that's already 10 games out in May? No one has ever accused Arod of being a selfish player. He plays hard and has always given 100%. He's made some dumb decisions off the field and he's choked in some pressure situations. But let's not make him out to be a selfish player who'd want to see the team fail just to make himself look more important.

"Why not pick up Sheffield as a utility player? He could be a great bat off the bench like Darrell Strawberry"

One reason. He wouldnt ever win the Nieves award(best clubhouse guy ever).
