Peter Abraham
March

One of our readers (thanks, Jenn) wrote to say that the Yankees will be offering tours of the new Stadium starting May 4.

Tours are $20 and include the clubhouse, dugout, museum and Monument Park.

  2. Run Gardner Run

$20 ? Thats not a bad deal. How much was the ones at the old stadium?

  3. tim boat

and in other news Gary Sheffield was cut! Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy with the way he griped while he was here. Too bad MLB isn’t like the NFL with non guaranteed contracts

  4. Betsy

$20.00 is a very good deal – that is something I absolutely plan to do. Imagine getting to see the clubhouse? Wow………

  5. mo

$20 great deal, i was expecting to pay much more…

Breaking news: The new york yankees traded alex (arod) rodriguez to the rockies for garret atkins, taylor bucholz and 3 minor leaguers = cash. Source: ESPN DEPORTES

  7. Mitchell

Dallas McPherson was released. Kinda makes sense for the Yankees at 3rd. No?

  8. mo

Dallas McPherson has great power, but can’t field and strikes out alot.

the yankees should maybe go after mike lamb, he was released today, great fielder i think.

  9. vin

it’s not yet april fools day in my time zone, so is that rumor real? lol

    hmm, FAILED.

  11. Al from BK

Never trust ESPN Deportes for anything guys even though that trade sounds good.

Is the comments section going to be completely worthless tomorrow?

    (Not an April Fools thing)

Mike Lamb was told he’s not making the Brewers and Dallas McPherson was released. I don’t see how one of them will not be signed (preferably McPherson).

  14. Nick in SF

Everyone knows Impacto Deportivo is the best fake Dominican news source for April Fools jokes.

McPherson’s rousing .920 fielding percentage at third base sells me on it. Along with his lack of inability to hit above sea-level.

Darn, so if I tried to get you all now, you all are already on your guard.

  17. Nick in SF

Rebecca, forget fooling us fools right now, just read the story of Passover in Facebook style, which I linked to in the last thread (or the one before that, or…)

Nick, yup tomorrow’s posts will all be nonsense unless there’s a proof. :D

Ed: my posts never require proof to be nonsense!

    Wait, what?

  21. GreenBeret7

April Fool’s Day is the troll’s High Holy Day.

    Nick, LOL.

  23. GreenBeret7

Somewhat off-topic, but, they’re doing a new Three Stooges movie.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0383010/

Hard to believe that they talked Mike Lupica, Pete Gammons and Steve Phillips into agreeing to do a autobiographical movie.

  24. Nick in SF

Actually, the “early April Fools Day joke” notion might explain an otherwise-inexplicable comment someone left on this site a couple nights ago, but I dare not specify which one. ;)

  25. dennis-costanza(sox fan)

    Is it safe in here?

    -dennis

  26. Nick in SF

As safe as it is for Youk at the plate with Joba on the mound.

  27. dennis-costanza(sox fan)

Or Ted Kennedy on Fox news?

I have been accused of a being a liar and such this week so I am a tad confused…

GB7.- Hope you are well, Great post on the Cubs PA man earlier. I googled and got a few good stories to augment your post.

Morning, Dennis. Doing fine, here. Hope your packing and getting ready is going well. Pat Piper was a classic. He’d sit on his folding chair in his skimmer and announce the batting orders. Who was the Boston PA guy years ago. Really good, but, I believe he passed away. Boston’s answer to Bob Sheppard/Cubs Pat Piper.

    GB7-

My Dad likes to tell stories of Sherm Feller. My Dad was a freshman at BC in 57 and has been a Sox fan since. He told me Sherm Feller had a geat presence and did not want any attention on himself.. Sherm Feller was at Fenway in 1967 or 1968 and spent 25+ years at Fenway.

    NickSF.

Hope you are having a good week.

Great day for Joba and the Yanks. I do however think Joba would be perfect for a 6th inning specialist for the next 5 years…

Yes, Sherm Feller. I only got to Fenway a few times….of course, I rooted for the “other team”, but he was good. Great voice. You could hear him often on the televised games, too. Never understood why the teams or the networks never did much of a background bio on some of the great voices. You never heard about him until he was gone. It says a lot when a ball team is recognized because of the PA guy as much as some of it’s players. They’re like a piece of the park, and not a person.

  32. dennis-costanza(sox fan)

    GB7. Well said.

If are your in the northeast this summer you are welcome to my season tix. Please give Amy and I advance notice of when you may be in Boston. We have 4 season tix and if you do not root too hard/loud against the Sox then I will send you 2/4 seats. I sent two seats to Rebecca’s friends last year. Baseball and people are far more important than the “rivalry”..

That’s a great offer, Dennis, and very much appreciated. My schedule with the doctors in Tampa are pretty much up in the air from month to month, so long distance travel is hard to plan, but, if I can, sounds like a wonderful time.

Say….this isn’t a plan to get rid of Yankee fans one at a time, is it? send them to Fenway on a one way trip?

  34. GreenBeret7

Looks like they’re replacing QuesTec with a new system. I think they’d be just as well off to use something to evaluate umpire positioning around the bases. That’s where games get lost.

    GB7.

I will fly to Beantown on Sunday for the Monday opening day. This will be my 14th year in a row. I am as excited today as I was 14 years ago.

I have been to a ton of Sox/Yankee games at Fenway. There is mutual respect other than the knuckleheads. I went to the All Star Game last year at YS with a “B” hat on and had great conversations as usual..People are much better in person than hiding behind a laptop screen…

You are welcome to our seats as long as you give us enough notice…

    -dennis

  36. GreenBeret7

Dennis, most appreciative. Not sure when you get back, but, if you arrive back in Savannah before September, we’ll have to meet up at Grayson Stadium and take in a game there…Mets vs Sox or Yanks. Usually some great games.

  37. Rick

mike lamb is probably a small step up from Ransom and McPherson….

  38. Clay Buchholz Loves Laptops - Latest Blog Entry: An Interview With Bill Gallo

I’m really on the lookout for April Fools jokes this year. In the words of Doctor Who, “I won’t be fooled again.”

  39. Clay Buchholz Loves Laptops - Latest Blog Entry: An Interview With Bill Gallo

Dennis, I would be happy to use your Red Sox tickets in place of GB7. I won’t even charge you.

  40. Chris

    BTW

Dallas Mcpherson was just released by the budget consious Marlins, because they already have a third basemen with a guarenteed major league contract. Hit .275 with 42 homers in triple a last year. COuld be a good arod fill in and future left fielder. What do you guys think about signing him?

  41. JOJO

Nice try, Chris. You almost got me with that one.

  42. JOJO

WTF? My apologies Chris. I thought it was an April Fool’s Joke.

Dallas McPherson did hit 42 HR’s in AAA last year. How does a guy hit 42 HRs in AAA and…

    1) not get called up when you get to about 25 HR’s and

    2) do that and then get released the next spring

He plays 1st and 3rd. Are the Marlins really that loaded that they couldn’t find a spot for him. He must have slept with the owners grand-daughter or something.

  43. John in Ohio

I’d like to nominate Joe Pesci as Mr. Sheppard’s stand-in during his recovery.

  44. Brad Pitt's better-looking brother

I don’t think either Lamb or McPherson is a step up from Ransom.
Neither is a particularly good fielder and neither has shown they are anything special at the plate at the major league level – though having several chances to prove so.

Stick with what we’ve got in-house – Ransom has done well. ARod will be back soon enough. (Oh wait, I forgot he got traded for Atkins…)
