    Jeters head looks fat

Jeter’s got the 2nd most recognizable “back of his head” in baseball, next to Manny Ramirez.

I’ve been to every big league park (except the new NYC ones) – Camden Yards is my favorite.

You have a weather report for tomorrow yet Pete?

  4. teddy April 5th, 2009 at 2:22 pm

    should of played today

  5. Drive 4-5 April 5th, 2009 at 2:28 pm

Very good chance of a rainout tomorrow. 90% chance of rain.

  6. Christina April 5th, 2009 at 2:32 pm

DT, how would you rate the Angels park?

  7. Dennis April 5th, 2009 at 2:38 pm

Was just there yesterday for Orioles Fan Fest and it was a great time! Going to the games on Wednesday and Thursday too! Go Yanks!

  8. DT April 5th, 2009 at 2:40 pm

“DT, how would you rate the Angels park?”

I liked it better before they Disneyfied it, Christina. Still a nice ballpark. I’d put it in the middle of the pack.

  9. TIME FOR #27 April 5th, 2009 at 2:43 pm

PETER: any idea if they will play tomorrow?

  10. Christina April 5th, 2009 at 2:46 pm

What would you say your top 5 parks would be? I have only been to the new and old Yankee Stadium and Rogers Centre but I’d love to visit all the parks when I win the lottery.

It’s probably going to be rained out.. Looking like there will be thunderstorms and there’s a day off on Tuesday, so it will be easy to make it up.

  12. Giuseppe Franco April 5th, 2009 at 2:58 pm

There was talk on Friday by a lot of people that the first game at the new yard was going to get rained out.

They still played. A lot of people were wrong.

    Weather changes. It always does.

Anyone who predicts the weather accurately 24 hours before the fact will be the first weatherman to do so.

  13. Betsy April 5th, 2009 at 3:07 pm

Too bad the weather looks lousy for tomorrow – I hope they don’t try to play and end up with 5 inning game. Worse, they play and someone gets hurt.

  14. Rmove the Net! April 5th, 2009 at 3:10 pm

    Pete,

Any work about the Yankees fixing that net?! It’s in every at bat and it’s obnoxious!

Please tell me they are at least aware of the problem and will address it?

Tex will make it rain on Eutaw Street.

  16. Thomo April 5th, 2009 at 3:13 pm

Camden Yards is my third favorite park – my favorite – Ebbets Field; second – the original Yankee Stadium – i loved the 450 foot outs to dead center field!

“What would you say your top 5 parks would be? I have only been to the new and old Yankee Stadium and Rogers Centre but I’d love to visit all the parks when I win the lottery.”

That’s tough Christina. There are parks you NEED to see – like Fenway and Wrigley – a great experience, but they aren’t great ballparks to visit. (parking sucks, small seats, horrible bathrooms, bad sightlines etc..)

My top 5 parks would be:
    Camden Yards – Baltimore
    PNC Park – Pittsburgh
    Safeco Field – Seattle
AT+T Park – San Francisco (or whatever name it has now)
    Yankee Stadium – NYC

    My bottom 5 would be:
    Metrodome – Minneapolis
    Dolphin Stadium – Miami
    McAfee Stadium – Oakland
    Tropicana Field – Tampa
    Miller Park – Milwaukee

Worst Park I’ve ever been to – Exhibition Park – Toronto (pre -Skydome)

“TAMPA, Fla. — New York Yankees right-hander Joba Chamberlain allowed two runs and two hits over 5 1/3 innings in his final spring training start on Sunday.

Chamberlain, pitching for Double-A Trenton in a camp game against Triple-A Scranton/Wikes-Barre, retired 16 in a row — including five strikeouts — after allowing two hits and a walk to start the game.

The Yankees’ No. 5 starter faced additional batters after three outs were recorded — two in the third and three during the fifth — to reach his scheduled pitch count of 75.

“It took me just a little bit to get going,” Chamberlain said. “I wanted to work on fastball command and my changeup, and I think I did a great job with those two. I think it was one of my most productive days as far as consistency. It was good.”

Chamberlain flew to Florida on Saturday, one day after watching the Yankees’ first game — an exhibition contest with the Chicago Cubs — at the new Yankee Stadium. He is scheduled to make his first regular-season start next Sunday at Kansas City.

“I’m excited to get going,” he said.”

    m,

I love how all the national columnists make a huge deal about how the Yankees aren’t a team. They’re just a bunch of stars. Well, the Yankees might have a roster with a bunch of big names in it, but the stories the beat writers have been giving us all spring about the rotation watching each others’ bullpen sessions and going to support each other at their starts, or A.J. taking people out fishing on his boat, or CC getting Wang to go to a Magic game, or the pool tourney make me think this group of players is definitely a team.

  21. Betsy April 5th, 2009 at 3:41 pm

LOL The Yankees play more like a bunch of superstars than they do a real team? First of all, what are they basing this on…..ST ? If they are, then that is the opposite of what we’ve seen. They obviously can’t be basing it on this season. Are they basing it on LAST season? This isn’t at all the same team.

This is the kind of stuff that really aggravates me. It’s bad enough to make the Sox look like they are a far superior team (which I assume they did – I just took a glance) when they aren’t, IF they are even superior at all. This crap about the team being not really a team (like the scrappy, resilient Sucks) is sickening and it’s obvious that these articles are just meant to pander to Sucks fans. Oh, why did you link to this, M? LOL

I just glanced through this – I know they mentioned Buccholz, but did they even mention Hughes? I’m sure they did not – lord, ESPN is full of it. I want to know who these scouts are, by the way.

  22. Patrick April 5th, 2009 at 3:44 pm

The weather isn’t looking too good for tomorrow. Heavy rain and thunderstorms all throughout the day and into the early evening. I doubt the Yankees play tomorrow, luckily they can reschedule for tuesday.

  23. m April 5th, 2009 at 3:44 pm

    Kara,

Totally agree. I wonder how many of those guys spent any extended time with the Yankees during ST? My guess? None. Ed Werter left town when Alex did, and he’s the Dallas Cowboy’s beat reporter.

  24. Betsy April 5th, 2009 at 3:49 pm

    I took a slightly more thorough look…….sheesh.

What happens if Jeter or Cano get hurt? Why didn’t they ask what happens if Bay gets hurt? Is Rocco Baldelli, who can hardly play, supposed to be great depth?

The pen, yet again, is being overlooked and underrated…….These scouts have got to be on the Sucks payroll

  25. Rob Thompson April 5th, 2009 at 4:36 pm

Regarding ESPN and the National coverage, I almost blame the Yankees themselves. They have so much power and money, can’t they work these media people over like every other institution in America does? The Yankee front office staff should be wining and dining these guys, trying to get favorable press for the Yanks. I’m sure that’s what the other franchises are doing – how else can you explain how much they love other teams like Tampa, the Dodgers and Royals and are always ripping on the Yankees.

  26. CompassRosy April 5th, 2009 at 6:37 pm

I’ve been to every big league park (except the new NYC ones)

    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

wow ~ I salute (and envy) you!

It is my dream to someday spend a summer traveling by train (yes, I know, you have to enjoy the journey as much as the destination) to every major league ball park.
