YES web site debuts two blogs; a few tickets remain available for the July outing
I love the YES Network. When I wake up on the couch at 4 a.m., there is almost always a YES Network infomercial on and two weeks later I get a ShamWow in the mail. It holds 12 times its weight in liquid!
But the YES Network web site used to be full of such stories as “Levine, Trost urge fans to sell children to afford tickets” and “Steinbrenner wins Tampa marathon while carrying grand piano.” Lately, however, the site is really trying.
Take their blogs, for instance. They’ve entered into agreement with our friends from River Ave. Blues to provide some content. Those guys do a great job and I’m looking forward to seeing how that works out. They also have two of their on-air personalities writing blogs.

The lovely and talented Kim Jones has Keeping Up With the Jones.
The lovely and talented Bob Lorenz has The Blob. Catchy name, Bob.
Seriously, Kim and Bob are funny, know the Yankees and will provide some unique insight. So check out what they’re doing. Then come back here.
It only took two comments for somebody to propose to Kim. That wacky internet.

Ron asked me to pass this along:
A few tickets remain for the LoHud Blog Outing to see the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees take on the Pawtucket Red Sox on Sunday, July 5 at 5 p.m. The outing will be held in the Right Field Bullpen Field Box at PNC Field.
The price is $32 per person except for children 2 and under who are free. This includes the game ticket, program, hat, all you can eat food (hot dogs, hamburgers, BBQ chicken, pasta salad, cole slaw, baked beans, watermelon, cookies) and unlimited soda and water. The bullpen field box will also have a dedicated bartender servicing a cash bar.
If interested please e-mail me (Ron) at yankslifer@yahoo.com with the number of tickets you’d like, and if they are available I’ll send you an invoice through PayPal.

Cool, this will help YES. I can’t say I ever visit their site much, because there’s not be very much of interest to see there, other than the occasional clip or interview.
I’ve been hoping Kim would do a blog for a while. I was kind of hoping it might be a bit more independent than on YES. She’s a lot more open and interesting on WFAN, for example. However, this is good stuff.
Bob’s should be good too.

A couple of days ago, Bill Madden was on the Michael Kay show where he predicted the Tampa Bay Rays to finish first in the AL East, the Red Sox second (winning the W.C.), and the Yankees in third. His reason was that Tampa won the division last season without that great of an offense. He feels that the chances of their offense not doing too well like last season is remote and will get better in 2009.
Well, if Bill can use that logic, then why can’t I use that logic for the Yankees? Why can’t I say that Robinson Cano’s, Xavier Nady’s, Alex Rodriguez’s (when he return) numbers will be better then last season? Why can’t I say that Hideki Matsui and Jorge Posada will recover and become bigg offensive threats?
I don’t mind when these sports “experts” pitck agaisnt the Yankees but please be consistent with what you say.

You can.
Peter, If you want to see a truly amazing product go to You Tube and type in snug wow.
Kim looks like Carly Simon.
Not quite sure howthey can pick Arod as the Breakout PLayer. I would think that he has already has his breakout season or two lol
Out of the 21 ESPN “experts”…
4 have us in the World Series (3 of them us winning)
5 think we will win the division
11 of them have us in the playoffs in some capacity (so that means 10 of them, or almost 1\2 of them don’t think we will make the playoffs)
Not a whole lot of love for the Yankees from ESPN, though I guess that’a normal.
I love how Gammons has the Sox over the Mets in the World Series thus finally silencing the lambs of his nightmares.
I see where the Hobbitt called A-Rod a dork. A-Rod may be a total mess, but last I checked, he hasn’t been arrested for child molestation – unlike the Hobbitt’s brother.
Pedroia should worry about his own family and let the Yankees worry about theirs.
A lot of people at ESPN thought Seattle would win the west or Cleveland in the central last year. How did that turn out?
In fact, I think TB is this years 2008 Indians. Made the playoffs and then take a step back the following year.
“Not a whole lot of love for the Yankees from ESPN, though I guess that’a normal.”
It’s probably written in their employment contracts that they have to have a bias against the Yankees.
Only 2 out of 13 Sports Illustrated experts picked us to be in the WS.
Yankees “age” seems like a popular thing to say when arguing why things will go wrong for the Yankees.
I see where the Hobbitt called A-Rod a dork. It would seem to me that Pedroia should be worrying about his own family (particularly his brother’s legal problems) and let the Yankees worry about theirs.
ESPN and the Globe – look at their picks – Boston writers have become as arrogant as most of their fans.
I’m going to enjoy Kim Jones’ blog because she always has good tidbits to share with her readers (or listeners on air), such as the fact that AJ and CC stayed for the whole game on Friday night and well afterwards, even though they were obviously not pitching.
GB mentioned in the prior thread about the Yankees using concrete in the outfield walls. I don’t get this at all……you’ve got padding on the seats for fans, but none where it is really needed for the players? Maybe the Yankees should talk to the Cubs about how they play the OF at Wrigley, where they have to worry about crashing into a pile of bricks.
I think we had more experts pick us to win the WS or make the playoffs last year when we had Hughes/Kennedy in the rotation than we do this year.
I honestly have no clue as to why these people can’t see how good this team can be, but fortunately the games will speak for themselves.
Don’t expect much love from any of the Boston papers. About 3 or 4 days ago, I read the Boston Herald’s preview (well, glanced at it anyway) and one Michael Silverman was talking about how loosey-goosey the Sox clubhouse was while the new Yankees acted robotic and corporate in their own robotic and corporate clubhouse. I know Silverman can not possibly be talking about THIS Yankee clubhouse and THESE new Yankees…….maybe he entered some parallel universe or something. In any case, reading that told me that these guys are not interested in being objective at all. They are all jumping on the Rays’ bandwagon (which is fine – I see them as a very dangerous team)……as for the Sox? The Sox are mature, the Yankees old. LOL

Damon said the outfield wall plays very hard with no give. It’s just a concrete wall.
Renovated YS wall was padded sheet metal that gave when you hit it.
Not everything is going to be the same good or bad when have a new stadium. That’s just the way it is.
I guess they could of made it sheet metal but they probably have their reasons why they didn’t.
I don’t see it as outrageous at all that people think we miss the playoffs. The 3 best teams in baseball are in the AL East, one of them isn’t making the playoffs.
All going to come down to injuries and getting off to a fast start.
“It only took two comments for somebody to propose to Kim. That wacky internet.”
Pete – don’t feel bad. I’m sure all your marriage proposals were sucked up by that wacky filter.
Trevor – Yep. The players just have to get used to it.
No link to RAB? C’mon. I wanna see what YES thinks is so hot.
Speaking of Kim Jones, click the link and check out the picture at the very bottom of the post. It’s a classic!

I’m going to be honest. I really don’t need to read any other Yankee blogs except this one. Pete gives us every thing we need on the Yankees and then some.
did anyone else notice bob lorenz trying way too hard to be jokey during the cubs games? maybe feeling extra confident after the emmy?
he should stick to what was working
