Nick in SF,

Your buddy was way off on Wang's political view. Although he didn't say it publicly, which is smart,
there are plenty evidence showing that he is a strong Taiwan supporter, just like many baseball players born in Tainan.

Thorny and GB7,
I travel to Panama quite often. I have seen many kids with Yankee caps not Boston caps. The newspapers always praise the performances of Mo. He might not be a god but he is very well liked by his people.

Pete, I think they're working on quantifying exactly the kind of play Jeter made at third today. And it's not like he does something like that everyday. (Also, as you suggest, much, if not most of the credit ought to go to Tex.)

Everybody knows that Mariano Rivera is an idol in NY, but how many people knows that Mo is hated in Panama, his country? So many people in Panama hates him because he forgot his country and his hometown, Puerto Caimito

and...what's your point..as if anybody needed to guess.?

So many people in Panama hates him because he forgot his country and his hometown, Puerto Caimito. The Panamanians thinks he is a "Payaso" (Clown) and he and the Yankees has enemies in all corners in Panama. It mean the Red Sox Nation is in Panama too. Nevertheless, there are many Panamanians Yankees fans. Not like in the past when Ramiro Mendoza and Ruben Rivera(Mo's cousin) were playing with the bombers but I spect, 50% Yankees & 50% Red Sox in Panama.
