I think it’s quite simple why this is a launching pad. Throughout the stadium when you are walking around the consessions it almost 100% open, you can see the action from where ever you stand. When I went to the Cubs game I noticed the wind howling through, from outside right to the field. I bet there are wind currents in this stadium that never existed because of the stadium being open.
