Update on Xavier Nady

Posted by: Peter Abraham - Posted in Misc on Apr 17, 2009 Print This Post Print This Post | Email This Post Email This Post

Xavier Nady will have two more MRIs tomorrow, one with dye to enhance the image.

That’ll make it three MRIs, two x-rays and a CT scan. His right elbow will be shot more times than if A-Rod got out of a cab with Madonna at Gate 4.

But with Nady already on the disabled list, it makes sense for the Yankees to check out every possibility. A second Tommy John surgery is not something a player wants to rush into.

UPDATE, 5:25 p.m.: On second thought, it sounds like Nady is only have one MRI tomorrow. It wasn’t clear when Girardi explained it after the game.

Come on Pete, How did a-Rod get in this.

  4. Whitey Fraud April 17th, 2009 at 5:09 pm

They need to shrink Raquel Welch and put her in a submarine and inject her into X’s body to check it out.

A little insight in to Nady’s MRI. Back in ’00 my shoulder was killing me, kept going numb. I had an MRI, it showed nothing. Doctor sent me to rehab, that didn’t work. So they finally sent me for an MRI with an arthrogram, where they injected fluid inside the shoulder. That MRI showed that I had a slight tear. So the yankees should anounce something after that.

nice win. the natives will calm down until at least the 3rd inning saturday.

joba and CC are all over the plate, that needs to be rectified…

Arod in about 2 weeks, think that will help the offense??NAH…Pena or Ransom can carry 3B..Obviously I am joking.. Pena needs to go to AAA then and play every day….He had his cup of coffee…

I think it’s quite simple why this is a launching pad. Throughout the stadium when you are walking around the consessions it almost 100% open, you can see the action from where ever you stand.

When I went to the Cubs game I noticed the wind howling through, from outside right to the field.

I bet there are wind currents in this stadium that never existed because of the stadium being open.

Albaladejo will get lost, but he was very good again today. He’s not flashy, but he’s very solid – I like him a lot. It was nice to see him bounce back with a good effort after his 3 inning stint in Tampa in the blowout.

Betsy, it’s not such a bad thing if Albaladejo pitches well and gets lost in the crowd. It’ll make it much easier for him to sneak in, get the job done and slip away. Everybody ignors him except Girardi and the team.

Albaladejo and Coke need to pitch the 7th inning

As the barometric pressure decreases so will HRs.

    LOL nice!

GB, good point. The fact that the Yankees didn’t send him down after his Tampa stint (given that he couldn’t be used for at least a few days) says that they like him a lot…..

I really feel for Nady – I hope he doesn’t need TJ surgery. I would love for him to be able to contribute this year, for his sake.

“As the barometric pressure decreases so will HRs”

Dude they hit a homerun to the left field bleachers this year, very easily.

  15. YanksFan23 April 17th, 2009 at 5:24 pm

I think they should look into Frankie Catalanotto. He’s a veteran and he’s been a solid hitter his whole career. I think he would be a better choice at DH then Melky with Matsui hurting. The only problem is finding room for him on the 40 man roster.

    Pret:
on that day the BP was 102.675 THAT’S WHY.

  17. GreenBeret7 April 17th, 2009 at 5:27 pm

Alfonso Soriano hits a game winning 8th inning 2 run homer against St. Louis. Number 5, but, the strikeouts are piling up.

With Carpenter out for possibly 2 months, they might be ripe for a deal. An outfield or infield bat for pitching help. Barden’s playing a great shortstop and hitting homers. They could make them put Brenden Ryan, Schumaker or Ankiel on the block. I don’t see any way that they’ll put Ludwick up for trade, though.

i have to agree with pretefunkera. also, it’s the same guy who designed camden yards too, no? another launchpad.

  19. Manson April 17th, 2009 at 5:29 pm

They didn’t send him down after the Tampa series because they have no long man otherwise. If Giese was still on the roster, they would probably have swapped him and Albie to get a fresh arm here.

Exactly. Albaladejo will pitch in any spot and do a good job. He’s so happy to finally make it to the big time, he doesn’t care if they spell his name right. He’s possibly the Ramiro Mendoza type. He did used to be a starter. Girardi likes him and, I think the team likes to see him, because he doesn’t mess around. It’s almost to the point that he’s quick pitching the hitters. He’s usually in and out of the inning…no standing around.

  21. Uncle Ellsworth April 17th, 2009 at 5:39 pm

I’m just kiddin about the barometric pressure.

I think the openness of the decks is the main factor.

Anyhow I hope no one was hurt today a 12:10 (except Joey)
    (battle under the Banner)

Matsui news is bad that on top of Nady. Fluid on the knee already is bad bad bad.
It is an opportunity for cash to make a good move though

  22. dadofjft April 17th, 2009 at 5:41 pm

    Whitey,
Excellent suggestion. I was just talking about that movie with someone who had never heard of it and thought I was making it up about Raquel Welch in a wet suit.

  23. 86w183 April 17th, 2009 at 5:49 pm

Matsui is having the longest most unsuccessful return from surgery to repair torn cartilage I have seen since in decades… that’s very disconcerting.

Sad to say, but the best thing for the Yankees might be his retirement. At this point they should at least put him on the DL.. Shelley Duncan would be an improvement… hell, Sandy Duncan would be too.

Albaladejo is pretty darn good.. glad to have him. He wasn’t bad in Tampa, just got tired which is understandable.

  24. 86w183 April 17th, 2009 at 5:52 pm

Correction, Albie was bad in Tampa, but I stilllike him

    dadofjft:

Saw her in a commercial the other day. Raquel isn’t looking that great these days but then again, neither am I.

But I’m sure with the lights out we both look FABULOUS.

Has anyone ever done a study on athletes and cancer focusing on the amount of radiation that they are exposed to over the course of their careers?
