Shameless plug
I’ll be on WFAN at 9:45 with Tony Paige talking about the Yankees.
Thanks to Kevin for picking me up with the blog today. He’ll be back at it tomorrow. Can’t say I was sorry to have missed that debacle today.
Nobody has defended Chien-Ming Wang more than I have but there’s not much to say. If he’s not injured, then he has to prove he belongs in the rotation. Right now he doesn’t.

Say hi Carl when you’re on the air
that should be an interesting interview. Hope you have your wang info ready.
Have a list of options for Chien Ming-Wang including sending him back to Staten Island.
There is only only solution— try and pass Wang through waivers and then outright him to the minors.
I was at the game today. I was standing next to a guy who looked just like Jim Leyritz. Does anyone know if he was at today’s game?
Well, if the only solution is to keep him up here, then we are screwed.
He needs to pitch in actual games. He has logged 6 innings all season. Eliand has raved about his work in the bullpen, but clearly it isin’t transferring to the mound when the game starts. How is that going to be helped if he just sits around for 10 days and throws more great bullpens?
He has to get his feel for pitching back, somewhere where the results do not count so he can work on things and won’t get rattled. Staying up here does nothing for him.
If he pitches one more awful outing, the Yankees’ll make him fake an injury and send him down to Tampa.
“I was standing next to a guy who looked just like Jim Leyritz.”
He probably homered to right.
Frankly, the Yankees have to have a long man (maybe even one of Hughes, Kennedy or Aceves) in the pen for Wang’s next start, “shadowing” him , ready to go long as needed.
Doing that is a bit of an insult, but the Yanks don’t exactly have a choice – it’s either that, or destroying their bullpen.
His next 2 starts would be either at Fenway, or at Detroit… two teams who have killer offenses and we’d be on the road.
If he can’t get out DeRosa and Shin Cho-Shoo… How is he going to get out the Boston and Detroit hitters?
Eliand has to be kidding with that quote from the previous page. How delusional can these guys be?
They’re basically conceding defeat. The players on the team can’t be happy with that, either can the bullpen arms who are putting their careers in danger. You’re asking these 1 inning relievers to throw 60 pitches?
Wang can’t pitch his next scheduled start. Simply can not.
I’d rather him start vs. Detroit. Losing to a team in our division is more important than losing to Detroit. We’re not competing with Detroit for the A.L. East, and anyway it gives Wang more time to fix his mechanics.
We need a long man. It’s either that or risk serious injury to one or two inning pitchers.
Uh Pete, how can you mention Igawa as a candidate on the radio? a couple of points…. 1) he is Kei Igawa 2) He is not on the 40 man roster, they DFAed him last year.
This is like the Twilight Zone. Wang is like Rick Ankiel and our new ballpark is Coors Field 2.0.
I know they say he isn’t injured, but is he?
I just wonder because he was fine in ST. His mechanics issue kind of suggests he’s compensating for something wrong.
Ultimately, Cashman’s stubbornness is going to be the downfall of our team. Keeping Wang up here when he clearly can’t pitch, no long man, no bench, Melancon rotting in AAA while Veras is blowing games etc.
Sandman-I remember him having a pretty bad ST.
I propose that if he bombs one more time (or even before that) they have him fake an injury (say arm fatigue) and go on the DL where he works on his mechanics in Tampa. In the meantime we pitch Hughes.
OK…we have options…there are always options.
Why not make CMW our long reliever until his confidence comes back. He is in low risk spots where he can just work things out. Get Phil Hughes up here to pitch where he belongs. He can’t be worse!
And I loved how the commentators on Fox was practically blaming the new stadium as to why the Indians were hitting their home runs…ugh!
When your other options are a half-baked Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy, Igawa, Tomko, or Aceves… you can see why they are reluctant to send Wang down.
You really think Kennedy is going into Fenway next Friday and giving us a chance to win?
Yankee 78-I think Hughes gives us a shot.
If a team could simply “fake an injury”, you’d see a lot more of it. They are not going down that path – I doubt they’d be able to get away with it if they tried (and getting away with it would include Wang agreeing to say he is hurt when he isn’t).
They either start him again or put him in the bullpen. There is nothing wrong with him throwing a few innings at a time in the pen.
Tom K-I thought they did that last year with Hughes. And for some reason (perhaps I’m wrong) I do remember a Red Sock pitcher (Dice-K?) going down with “arm fatigue”.
The next time Hughes is up should be the last time he is up. In other words, they need to be 100% convinced he is ready AND give him a shot to pitch a full major league schedule.
Having him come up for a spot start or two is not what I want to see. They need him to be 100% convinced he’s ready this time.
They can’t send Wang back out there for his next start. He just seems lost right now and the games he pitches are automatic losses.
Tom K-Why? You tell Hughes Wang is injured, we need a starter. If he does good, he’s replacing Pettite next year and is our fifth starter.
Nothing wrong with that.
Wang’s problem is mental. Nothing will be accomplished by giving him 10 days off and throwing bullpen sessions. He needs to pitch in actual games to get his feel back.
You’re only delaying the inevitable and costing yourself game(s) in the standings by delaying.
Hughes had a legit rib injury – he didn’t go to Tampa and start throwing right away; he had to rehab it.
Putting it another way: They had no reason to fake a Hughes injury. He had options.
As for Dice-K, I can’t speak for him or the Red Sox. But he may just have a legit arm injury. Nothing indicates Wang does.
This is sad. I’m watching the Rays game right now. The Rays are down by 5 runs in the 9th inning and the crowd is LOUD. Maybe it’s those darn cowbells, but the fans at Tropicana Field sure seem a lot louder than the ones at Yankee Stadium, at least on TV.
Wang won’t be starting on Friday that’s pretty apparent already but I do think that they need to get him to AAA somehow to work out his issues.
I think he must be compensating for his foot injury somehow but whatever…33.0ERA is just insane.
RS-It’s the cowbells.
And the Yankees were down by 18.
Hughes did better in his callup last season. He had a good winter/spring.
Bring him up. You guys complain about babying Jobber. Bring Hughes up. They’re spot starts. He’s not replacing Wang for the season.
And Boston is about to win its 3rd in a row. Looks like their demise was greatly exaggerated. They are firing on all cylinders and look poised for a run.
They are clearly the class of the division and its evident by their depth. They lose Dice-K and can just plug in Masterson and not miss a beat.
Thankfully Tampa looks to be stagnant, but Boston looks ready to take off. Another year chasing a team and scoreboard watching. I guess it was too much to ask this team to get off to a fast start. Always something or the other that derails this team.
Tom K-They could at least do a little better than “arm fatigue”.
Anyway, this is all hypothetical. In theory they could just not play Wang and bring Hughes up, just give Wang some one on one with Eiland.
Lance-Come on, we win tomorrow and at least split, hopefully sweep this series on Friday and we’re even or ahead of Boston.
I knew the demise was exaggerated, but it is for the Yankees too. We’ll be fine.
All of the kids are doing well, tonight. David adams and Ray Kruml are hitting everything for Charleston. Melky Mesa’s playing a solid left field and his bat is heating up.
Angelini is starting to hit, but, they need to get him a fielding instructor or move him to the outfield….another error and should have been two.
David Phelps has also turned in his 2nd great start. 11.2 innings, 8 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned. 1 walk and 8 strikeouts.
He’s a tall right hander (6’3” and 195) from Notre Dame.
Charleston’s leading 6-4 bottom of the 9th inning. Venditte’s coming in.
If this team has any guts, they will murder this team tomorrow. They got embarrassed today and the Indians were having fun at our expense, joking and laughing in the dugout and stayed in the whole game to pad their stats. Now tomorrow we face that joke Pavano with AJ on the mound.
Let’s see what this team is made of. If this doesn’t fire them up, nothing will.
KWAN-They’ll win. They bounced back for 2 huge wins vs. the Rays.
“If he’s not injured, then he has to prove he belongs in the rotation. Right now he doesn’t.”
Amen to that…
Venditte’s the switch-pitcer right GreenBeret7?
There is an off day on Thursday. Wang’s spot can be skipped.
Two issues at play with Wang. There is mechanics and then there is confidence.
Even if his mechanics get fixed – Wang’s confidence looks shot. He get’s in that “oh boy, here we go again” mode.
His head is a mess.
Even a terrible pitcher lucks out with “at em” balls.
Heck, look at Swisher. He’s not a pitcher and he got three outs. But he had semi-confidence and fun on the mound.
Boomer Wells could laugh off bad starts. Rivera can turn the page quickly after a rare bad outing. Swisher gets out his mental etch-a-sketch.
Wang’s head might be harder to straighten out than his mechanics.
The Red Sox may win their third game in a row but they’ll still be behind us in the standings. That’s with the Yankees missing their best player, and starting the worst pitcher in the league in 25% of their games. Far too early to panic.
Hughes is the ONLY guy on the list who gives us a chance to win
Kennedy doesn’t. Aceves doesn’t. Tomko doesn’t. Igawa doesn’t.
If Cashman is serious about wanting to win games, he will bring up Hughes. One freakin’ start isn’t going to kill him. He’s pitched up here before, he knows what it is about. It’s really up to Cashman. He knows there is no other option.
Bringing up anybody but Hughes sends a bad message to everyone. It shows winning is not the goal.
DT-I believe in Wang. He’ll get himself fixed.
“When your other options are a half-baked Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy, Igawa, Tomko, or Aceves… you can see why they are reluctant to send Wang down.”
Did you see the games Aceves pitched in last year? You want to compare his starts with the others on that list?
I believe he pitched well agains the O’s, Chisox, and Angels…
RS-Exactly! People forget that. How do you think they feel when they lose?
I believe Wang can work this out. Has there been any talk yet of sending Wang down for a couple starts & bringing someone up who has options left?
Wait … well … what I meant was … has anyone in the organization brought up the subject of it being better for Wang to work it out in the minors? No, the blog doesn’t count as ‘the organization’, although a few regular posters actually do know what they’re talking about.
Would Hughes be the man up? If so, what do they do if Hughes clicks and Wang’s suddenly himself again a couple starts later?
By the way … I was nowhere near a TV or computer during the game. I didn’t know the score until I came home. I won’t even bother skimming that game thread to see if anything witty or intelligent was said. I’d bet there wasn’t anything intelligent said after the dam broke, except for Kevin’s entry about the comments. And perhaps GB7 (if he bothered to stick around) tearing some hostile bridge jumper moron a new one.
By the way, I was at the 22-0 game back in ’04. Well, I was there for the first 7 innings of it. Hideous. I even missed catching a foul ball by a couple inches that night. At least they scored this time.
DYNASTY IS DESTINY!-I’d be willing to give Aceves a shot, but I’d prefer Hughes.
How many pitchers in the history of baseball have had success for a long period of times with K rates of less than 4 per 9?
Wang is just getting exposed now. The stat=head/Sabremetric guys saw this coming for a while.
His inability to battle without his best stuff (that other sinkerballers like Lowe can do), just furthers the point that he isn’t going to last.
Maybe Wang’s preoccupied with his pregnant wife. What is she about 7 months?
Closer-Gotta disagree. You’re going off three bad starts. He started off 0-2 in 07′, look how that turned out. I believe he’ll turn it around.
Did you watch Aceves this Spring?
He had a 4 ERA in AAA last year and is struggling again this year.
He is nothing special. If you’re going to call up someone, it might as well be Hughes.
I’m not sure what I expected Eiland or Girardi to say, but to say he’ll be fine is somewhat delusional. Just DL Wang – of course, they can’t say that that is their plan. There is no way he should make his next start or the start after that or the start after that. Wang has a lot of problems and they are not going to be solved in a few days.
If the Yankees bring up Hughes, then that tells me that they have no clue what they are doing. He’s doing just what he should in AAA – and that is working on his pitches; Phil will be a much more complete pitcher when he gets called up for good. If they bring him up now, the Yankees risk setting this kid back. He won’t be able to work on his pitches- he’ll have the pressure on him to get hitters out. That’s not what Phil needs now. If the Yankees just give him time and stick with the plan, regardless of what is happening on the ML level, then they will have an exceptional young pitcher.
Right now, they need a long man – Wang is completely responsible for the torching of this pen; these guys will be exhausted by June – if not earlier. DL Matsui for pete’s sake – he’s a waste of a roster spot.
Per Tyler Kepner-
Wang has to throw 48.2 scoreless innings for his ERA to get to his career average (3.79).
http://74.125.47.132/search?q=.....ent=safari
good article on wang from alex belth from 2006
“Though derailed by injuries in 2001 and part of ‘03, Wang had developed into the organization’s best pitcher at Triple A Columbus by the end of the ‘04 season on the strength of a newly acquired sinker. Before that Wang threw a variety of pitches, as many as six, each with varying success but none with dominance. Columbus pitching coach Neil Allen taught him the hard sinker, and his catcher (current Yankees backup) Sal Fasano guided Wang with assurance, eventually calling for the pitch almost 90 percent of the time. Wang’s sinker clocks in the low 90s and has tremendous movement.”
“”He’s a weird pitcher, with an unusual approach,” says Nate Silver of Baseball Prospectus. In addition to the sinker, Wang has a four-seam fastball that he gets up into the 95-96 mph range. He also has an adequate slider and an average changeup.
“He’s not trying to strike people out,” says Silver, “he’s trying to induce weak contact.” Most guys with the ability to throw as hard as Wang strike out far more hitters (think of power sinkerballers such as Brown or Derek Lowe.) “In the long run,” Silver continues, “he’ll find if you can strike people out it will make him even better.”
COL 88-That’s not impossible.
Venditte saves his 3rd game this year and all 26 save chances since signing last June. 1 inning, 1 hit, 2 strikeouts tonight. All right handed. since signing, he has 37.2 innings, 16 hits, 3 runs, 2 earned, 10 walks, 50 strikeouts and 2 homers allowed. He’s fast becoming more than a curiosity. Great curve and change from both sides and hitting 90-92 from the right side. Jist a bit less from the left.
Wang’s first 2 starts in 07
6.1 IP, 4 ER
6.0 IP, 4 ER
And his 3rd start, he had a no hitter through 7 innings against Seattle. Nothing is comparable to what he is going through this year.
GreenBeret7-I wish his fastball were better.
I don’t think anyone needs to be called up. Skip Wang, AJ starts Friday on normal rest.
AJ is the #2 guy in this rotation – even if Wang straightens himself out. We need him pitching as often as possible – forget splitting up the power pitchers.
He’s stepped up as our stopper the last two times – I hope he can do it again. I do have a lot of confidence in him – I just wish it didn’t keep coming to this.
“Wang has to throw 48.2 scoreless innings for his ERA to get to his career average (3.79).”
i wonder if the 3.79 was before or after the last three starts?
Closer-True, but remember he hadn’t pitched since June of last year.
He just needs some time to get his pitching form back.
Huh? throwing 48 scoreless innings straight is not impossible?
Not 48 cumulative innings, 48 straight innings without giving up a run.
Nick-Okay, straight is a bit different. Yeah, that’s pretty much impossible.
And some people just keep on whining.
The queen of gloom and doom has spoken.
DL Wang. Don’t bring up Hughes because that will show they “have no clue what they’re doing.”
I’ll tell you who has no clue….
This is 100% Cashman’s call. The roster is 100% on him too– like no long man, no bench, etc. He is the GM, he is in charge of all that.
Cashman will probably take Eliand’s recommendation on what to do with Wang. Considering they can’t sent him down legally even with his permission, it complicates things.
miggs-Yeah, if he keeps doing bad (say one more bad start) why is that an awful idea (DL’ing him)?
Granted, Wang may not agree. He seems like a pretty good guy.
I, on the other hand, am cuthroat and ruthless. I care only about winning despite who’s hurt along the way.
Anyway, if it could be pulled off, why couldn’t it be an option?
miggs,
LOL. Yeah, it’s funny isn’t it? Yeah, Hughes who has already won a playoff game is going to be shell-shocked by starting one game in the majors.
Hilarious.
Just to clarify-the cuthroat and ruthless coments were jokes, though not terribly far off the mark…:-)
Guys the George Washington Bridge is just a short ride from the Stadium if you wanna keep jumping off in panic and throwing away the season.
HAVE SOME DARN PERSPECTIVE!!!!!! Anyone who thought that this team would not have a 12 game period during a 162 game season where they would play .500 ball is delusional!!!! That is exactly what happened. This is in spite of Wang having 3 abysmal starts and Sabathia having one horrid one. That is 1/3 of the starts being horrible. So when they have gotten something at least resembling a decent start or better they have won 75% of their starts!!!
Yes Wang pitching like garbage is worrisome, but panicking is not gonna solve the issue. He cant be sent down. Read the previous thread for the explanation. The best option is to fix him. The same mechanical problems that are causing him to be up in the zone are likely sapping the speed from his pitches. Take him out of the rotation, skip a start, and work with him in the pen. He becomes the long man til they need him to start again. When he does start again, you have a long man on the roster so you dont run the risk of brutalizing the pen.
No one needs to be called up for the coming week because of the day off on Thurs but going forward it will be an issue because every off day was supposed to be Joba’s skipped start to preserve his innings pitched. Cashman has his work cut out for him.
Orange J-I’m not against bringing up Hughes, but the thing is that he may have won a playoff game but he couldn’t win a single game last year.
Mind you, he was still better than Wang.
Yes…. I’m sure Cashman is going to spend $423 million this winter, and then let Ian Kennedy lose games for us while Hughes is there.
We HAVE to win this year. That means, putting your best pitchers out there. If Wang goes on the DL, it will be for Hughes.
before Wang tries to throw 48 scoreless innings – maybe he should go for 2 straight scoreless innings.
baby steps. baby steps.
serious question – do the Yankees have a team psychiatrist?
Orestas-Exactly.
This ballparks crazy jetstreams are getting national coverage now, Olney wrote about it. Honestly if every game is 15-12 with 12 homers to right we have to consider closing off some of the wind.
Wait Betsy, so you want them to put Wang on the 60 day DL?
How many starts do you want him to skip? Some people are really overreacting
Zack Greinke is going to give Halliday a run for the Cy Young. complete game 7 hit shutout of Texas. 0 walks, 10 strikeouts. Hasn’t allowed a run yet, this year.
PLease this is what they can and cannot do with Wang. Kevin said it earlier and again her eit is they CANNOT send him down
http://bats.blogs.nytimes.com/.....ming-wang/
Idea-There’s Halladay trade talk if the Jays fall out of it. How about Greinke trade talk if the Royals fall out if it?
Just sparking discussion.
Al – I saw that article.
This has become a huge problem. Routine fly balls are out of the park now. A-Rod may hit 60 HRs. But so will our opponents.
Al from BK-I don’t believe this jetstream thing. I think it’s just bad pitching.
Its just stupid talk.
Let’s not bring up a guy that can actually give us a chance to win because he “needs to work on his pitches” and “may have pressure on him to get guys out”
Are you joking? That’s his freaking job. To get guys out. I swear, its like she gets paid by the word. That’s the only reason to post that garbage.
But hey, who cares about winning? Leave Hughes in AAA, he only had a no-hitter through 7 back in 2007 and dominated in the playoffs that year. But now its 2009 and he can’t possibly be ready. He’s working on his pitches.
Let’s start Igawa. We won’t hurt his development or shake his confidence, right? Because that’s the most important thing.
Just shut up. Please.
Forntoso-So will our opponents, maybe. But we have A-Rod and his 60 HR’s plus other hitters. IF this jetstream thing is true.
I don’t think lying around the bullpen for 10 days and then having to face Granderson-Polonco-Cabrera-Ordonez-Guillen-Inge-Laird-Thames is the best remedy for Wang right now.
“Wang has to throw 48.2 scoreless innings for his ERA to get to his career average (3.79).”
That’s why I mentioned earlier that his ERA is pretty much shot for the year. However, if he can just get his act together and start winning games, he can still finish the year well (14-9 maybe) and I don’t care if he does that with a 4.60 ERA, as long as the team starts winning in his starts.
I’m trying to think of a similar situation and see how Cashman dealt with it…I don’t mean Igawa….Rogers, Danny Neagle ??? Any insights…
miggs-I get your point, but I also get Betsy’s.
Last year Hughes had a lot of pressure on him. He was supposed to be one of our top starters in a bad starting staff, and he went winless with bad numbers, then got hurt.
I wouldn’t mind bringing up Hughes, but if the Yankees think he needs more development, no arguement from me.
lol miggs
people have pretty low expectations of hughes. his confidence is going to be rattled even though he’s already won a playoff game, pitched a near no hitter, and pitched some great games at the ML level?
comical that peole want us to pitch kennedy, igawa, tomko etc. ahead of him. hughes at half strength is better than all of them.
There are lots of trolls on here that talk out of their asses and you just have to ignore it.
What bothers me is when a regular poster, someone who apparently watches a ton of baseball yet somehow has NO CLUE what’s going on, writes that garbage.
Its all gloom and doom from the drama queens. It gets old.
DC 212-So you’d rather him have little time to tinker with his mechanics and face a Red Soc lineup that’s very good in an important AL East statement series?
Letting Dan Giese go was an awful decision. We could use him as a long man and spot starter.
OMG, new thread with A-Rod’s name mentioned in it. 1,000 posts by midnight seem like a safe bet?
“I’m trying to think of a similar situation and see how Cashman dealt with it…I don’t mean Igawa….Rogers, Danny Neagle ??? Any insights…”
Pat – Coney comes to mind in 2000. He was winless in his first four starts with a 10+ era.
The worst part is when a pitcher has a history of success – Cone had won 20, two years before.
Teix – No. He shouldn’t be pitching up here, period. You’re just delaying the inevitable. Sure, you’d rather start him against DET than BOS, but the best scenario is to find a way to send him down (fake DL) right now. Get him righted ASAP. Again, there is nothing to be gained by him waiting 10 days just to get shelled again. He clearly isn’t right.
Am I the only one who likes this bandbox we play in now?
I liked the neutrality of the old YS, but this is fun too.
DC 212-I mentioned fake Dl, but Wang is too decent of a guy. He probably wouldn’t go for it.
John-I love NYS.
Ironically, the Indians got swept in Arlington to open the season and their offense wasn’t anywhere near as explosive as they have showed here.
Do we have the biggest bandbox in baseball now?
The overreactions are priceless.
DL Wang
DL Matsui
DFA Veras
Send Gardner down
Trade all our prospects for Roy Halladay
Put Joba back in the pen
I’ll tell you what I’d do. I’d skip Wang this time through the rotation. Then let him make his next start, regardless of how his side sessions go. We’ve learned a painful lesson that what he has in the pen is not always what he brings to the mound.
Depending on that start you either let him remain in the rotation or put him in the bullpen. Those seem to me like the only 2 options. Making up an injury is just stupid. He needs to pitch. That’s how he’s going to recover, by pitching. You can’t send him down so that’s out.
If he has to be the long man, so be it. Maybe he needs to enter the game when its a blowout without pressure so he can regain some confidence.
I’d put Hughes in the rotation. Unless he’s getting shelled in AAA he’s the first option. Maybe Aceves.
The wild card is the fact that so many FA pitchers are still out there. If Wang completely melts down and Hughes is deemed “not ready” which boggles my mind, then you could sign somebody.
My first choice……
Pedro Martinez.
http://riveraveblues.com/wp-co.....oints1.jpg
the blue dots are a good start last year. the red and blue diamonds are the first bad start this tear.
the numbers are in feet.
from the left numbers, you can see he was releasing at about 5.9 feet high in 2008 ( blue dots)
and that he was at about 6.6 feet on release in the 2009 start( red and blue diamonds)
today he was releasing even higher at about 6.8 feet according to gameday f/x data.
miggs good post, but the yanks are not gonna sign any free agent pitchers. the 40 man roster is full. unless there are more major injuries, requiring a stay one the 60 day dl, they will have to DFA someone or make a trade for a lower level player who would not take a 40 man spot. I am assuming melancon is going to be recalled at some point this year, and am in my mind am assigning nady’s spot on the 40 man to him
Yeah I mean, the post speaks the truth, I always thought we’d promote Hughes for AJ or Joba, but the way this is going it might have to be for Wang, who is gonna sit there taking up a roster spot if he can’t get back in his shape…
Its crazy to see the BP and Wang, our two strong points last season, fall apart like this.
So he is releasing too early.
Could be lack of concentration. Could be pain in the foot?
Jay, if I understand your post correctly, there does seem to be someone who has less of an idea about sports than the news media, and that might possibly be you buddy.
Oh, and lets blame Cashman’s religion on him being popular. Wow. Nice one.
I predict the Yanks will NOT skip Wangs next start and will pitch him in Boston where he will proceed to give up 15 runs without retiring a batter.
We should all know by now the Yankees are incredible slow to make adjustments based upon their sticking with Melky in CF last year until mid-August, not disciplining Cano until mid-September, and by their refusal to recall a long-man from SWB while the bullpen is shredded.
Sometime I wonder if Cashman is even forced to actually watch these pathetic games.
“I don’t think lying around the bullpen for 10 days and then having to face Granderson-Polonco-Cabrera-Ordonez-Guillen-Inge-Laird-Thames is the best remedy for Wang right now.”
I don’t think facing a AA line-up would be a good thing for Wang right now. But I certainly don’t want him starting in Fenway.
Can we please stop signing pitchers from Asia already. We had a few good seasons with Wang. Time to accept the fact that Asian players don’t last all that long here in the states. There has only been one Asian player that has proven that to be incorrect. ONE!!
The ones that do well, do well for a short period of time and fall apart.
Wang had a translator and didn’t speak English all that well, Pete. So what you said last year was just more hot air coming out of that bloated body.
Use spell check too. You are a journalist, for gosh sakes. It’s embarrassing to see the daily typos in your posts. Be a professional already.
Afraid of the Wind – Oh, that’s right, Asians can’t have long careers in the states. And blacks can’t pitch. And Jews can’t hit. And Canadians can only play hockey. You need help.
eat a salad
