I hadn’t noticed that until you mentioned it. It’s a nice piece. Pete’s long-form technique is getting better and better – perhaps analogous to AJ’s growth as a pitcher.

I don’t think Wang means he isn’t pitching well, it is that he doesn’t see anything different in his windup and delivery from last year’s films. He said his pitches are hanging up and not sinking.

I believe he might be too rested. LOL! A sinkerball pitcher almost needs a tired arm or they have too much pop on the pitches and they stay high. I am sure the Yankees will try to fix this problem even if Nardi has to fly to NY to do it!

I really don’t understand how Wang doesn’t see anything wrong with the way he’s pitching. That is a huge problem. I don’t think there is anyway you can let him pitch especially if he doesn’t think he is doing anything wrong.

I’m sure when Joe hears that it will only affirm their decision to push him back.

You’re right KP. So we’ll have Burnett vs. Lester on Friday (I refuse to believe the Yankees will allow Wang to pitch the opening game of Yankees Red Sox after what he’s shown his last three starts). I much rather see Burnett in their attacking the Sox with his fastball.

Too bad Joba isn’t pitching. Youkilis would definitely be getting some sweet chin music. Haha.

Melancon with another stellar performance today. I hope they bring him up in May. I just don’t really see what else he has to prove. He’s been getting stretched out for over a year now. Going 2-3 innings an appearance. If Bruney stays consistent (not even as great as he has been the last 5 times out) the pen looks great all of a sudden.

Now any close game the team is winning you’ll see this:

Starter 6+ innings
Melancon 7th if needed
Bruney 8th
Rivera 9th

And if the team is lucky enough to make the playoffs, right now I think your rotation has to be

CC
Burnett
Pettitte
Wang or Hughes

Shift Joba to the pen (only for the playoffs!) and add him to Melancon Bruney Rivera.

Not bad.

Beckett will still be suspended for friday’s game. They’re moving him back one day. So it will be Burnett or Wang vs. Lester, Pettitte vs. Beckett, Sabathia vs. Masterson

Gotta love the matchup for sunday.
