SJ- thanks for the story. But my question is this, if they are so embarassed, why are they still buying the seats? Hiding and/or not coming to the game because of that is so ridiculous and is more of a waste than anything...

Haven't made it to the new place yet (next month!) but they must let kids (not adults!) go down to the field to pursue autographs.... that's just as big a part of baseball as anything else.

In 1966 I was eight years old and was able to get Clete Boyer to toss me a ball. However some big adult jerk behind me caught it and wouldn't give it to me even though I was the one who called out to Clete for it.... but I'm not bitter... I don't hate that putrid no good $#&^*!......

i was at my first game of the year last night, and i'm glad i have a full season of bleacher seats, because i don't intend on ever actually sitting in those seats. i watched the whole game from the main level right behind the dugouts on either side. the place is absolutely beautiful.

one gripe, the out of town scoreboard no longer shows the stat line of pitching/batting performances in the games.

oh i had a great time and it was because people didn't show up. i always have a great time at the stadium (old and new).

my two main points were, some people got unfairly bumped out of their seats for whatever reason and unfortunately, for kids, unless mommy and daddy are loaded, you can't get close during bp like you could across the street. i hope these two things change in the future

True story......

At a tournament my company worked recently had a bank that shall remain nameless put red paper across the entrance of their suite, while also not putting their name on the nameplate outside the suite, for the reason some Yankee people suggest. They didn't want to have anybody visiting the suite photographed having a good time.

I found out later from others in my industry that there is a significant amount of paranoia among corporations re: being photographed at high end or sports events they are sponsored.

Weird times we live in today. Imagine spending that kind of money on tickets and/or a suite and do everything possible NOT to be noticed?

Sort of like reverse sponsorship karma. Crazy.

I went to the new Stadium on Sunday. It is probably hands down, the best sports venue in terms of having whatever is your fancy.

All of us are going to have feelings that I had on Sunday-Missing the smell and sounds of the old ballpark. Not being able to have access to basically any seat in the house. At the old stadium I would buy whatever tickets I could get, sit there for a few innings and move down. That is not happening here, especially with the "moat"

However, I did like being able to get whatever I wanted to eat quickly, and not missing a whole inning waiting in line to go to the bathroom. I also don't miss shoving through people to get from place to place.

Pretty soon, all of the old parks will be gone.

Doris from RP -

Good question. I think the gov't has it about half that, though. :( (Based on the cut-off for tax rebates and the like.)

I haven't had a chance to read through the previous thread, so I'm late on his, but:

AJ has been a tremendous teammate. His support of Wang has been wonderful to see because Wang is truly in a bad way. I just can't say enough good things about him. On the field, his teammates must love playing behind him as he just gets so amped up. AJ never blames anyone for his mistakes and he gives credit where credit is due. Off the field, he's been a real source of support for his teammates, from Joba to Wang. Everyone raves about him - and yet he goes about his daily business in a quiet way, not seeking attention at all. I'm so thrilled with AJ - he's been so much better than I thought, in every way.

just out of curiousty, what do we consider "rich" these days? I think 500K (post-tax) is rich. Anything below that isnt. Its wealthy, or comfortable. Its not "rich" though.
