Leaving Fenway now. Here is my car, alone in the lot. If this were Detroit, I’d be mugged by now.

God-speed Peter. You might want to just show up at the airport and sleep in the airport lounge and the Bars/restaurants in the terminal are often open 24 hours. Just a thought.

The way the Yankees played this weekend is enough to keep me up all night. A little worried but we have 144 games left.

    Pete,

I know this is way off topic, but it may interest you since you are a fan of the “Mighty Patriots” and it involved their long time division rival.

I’m sure you recall the Dolphins unveiling their “Wildcat” formation on the Pats last season and it really caught them off guard to the point where they couldn’t defend it.

Truthfully, it was a rather gimmicky concept because they had a hard time moving the ball the first two weeks of the season.

But that gimmicky concept it actually worked to the surprise of just about everyone – and worked so well that other teams started copying this concept and it was pretty widespread all over the league by season’s end.

However, the Dolphins just added a new wrinkle to the whole Wildcat playbook by drafting Pat White yesterday.

Adding White will open a whole new dimension for this once gimmicky formation because he’s an electric athlete who can run and throw the ball.

What do you think of this new wrinkle since the Dolphins are a division rival?

I personally think this has opened a big door for Tim Tebow next season. Depending how White performs in 2009 we may see a team like the Pats draft Tebow to do the same thing in 2010.

    m: who is ‘Destras’?

haha, this is hilarious, too bad i have to go to bed though

I also don’t get why people always neutralize any criticism for Tex by saying that he’s a perennial slow starter. That may be true, but this is a multi-year all-star hitting in a good lineup even without A-Rod. Does he have to have a bad April every year? It’s not as if it is a fate-induced foregone conclusion every year. Robbie in 2009 is the proof.

    ————

Teixeira is a slow starter. So is Sabathia. That’s just the way it is.

They aren’t going to change because you gave them a lot of money. It doesn’t work that way.

When you sign a free agent – no matter the cost – you are buying the entire package – his strengths and weaknesses.

If you think big money is going to increase their strengths and eliminate all their weaknesses – then you are living in the Land of Oz.

They let you stay at the Fenway dump this long?!

I was really hoping that the days of .500 baseball were not going to be seen this year, but it’s the same old story. Poor hitting with runners in scoring position not getting people in from 3rd with less than 2 outs. Getting shut down by 5th starters.
Tomorrow is a new day, hopefully the Yanks can get back to playing some good baseball. Starters need to step up in this series or the Yankees are going to have to DL relievers with arm fatigue.

If you were in Detroit, the picture would be of an empty lot and broken glass, no?

If Pete were in Detroit the mugger would be guest blogging by now.

    Nick,

Someone who responded to my “rant” about people wishing they had one ounce of AJ’s talent. He said “what? we should be jealous of Brown and some other (i guess) loser?”

My point is, if they’re a Yankee support them. Don’t call them gutless or losers or trash just because they didn’t win the game. Wahhhhh. Poor Yankee baby fans didn’t get their win. Wahhhhhh. Put the binky in your mouth and shut up.

Yes, I felt that I needed to stick up for my new favorite Yankee, and I apologize to you for insinuating that CC wasn’t pulling his share of the load.

But I just about blew up when respected poster CB posted some, what I thought were angry and reactionary, criticisms of AJ. Talking about how he needed to step up because he’s getting #1 pitcher money. Hello? What about the guy that’s getting paid plus-#1 pitcher money? Why does CC continue to get a pass when he’s pitched good in 1/4 of his starts and AJ gets reamed because we lost 1/4 of his starts?

CC’s getting the ace money, and I agree with whomever said his slow starts are not an acceptable excuse. He’s the one that needs to set the tone, not AJ.

So you can criticize AJ’s performance, but why no open criticism of CC so far?

Be careful and when you walk carry your keys in your hand so you are armed, that’s what I do. Always good to be cautious.

I would have a black coffee and light snack. Nothing too heavy or it will put you to sleep.

    Good luck Pete. ;)

  15. RustyJohn

Lol…that picture looks so sad. Does anyone still live in Detroit? I know very few people still work there.

  16. GreenBeret7

The fallacy that Sabathia is always a slow starter is ridiculous. If you go back and look at his year by year by game numbers, he’s had maybe 7 bad April games. He’s had Aprils with 4 wins and 6 wins, and Aprils with 0 wins with games of allowing 0-2 runs. He’s also had some ugly games like this year’s but, not many. When they were ugly, they were really ugly. when the calendar turns to May, he gets hot.

    Pete,

Had I known you were going to park right next to my office, I would have left a key for you. Free coffee, soda and HDTV in our conference room. Look closely next time and you’ll see my coworker’s silent protest to our Fenway neighbors: a Cleveland Indians logo in the window.
