  2. ez April 27th, 2009 at 4:26 am

this is the best night of blogging ever on this site. i thought it was illegal to take photos near airport security? hope they don’t confiscate your iphone now, that would be a shame.

Pete, I know you must be a bit blurry from such a long and entertaining weekend of baseball, but its morning.

  4. YFan April 27th, 2009 at 4:31 am

Hey Pete, consider putting an audio book on your ipod great way to kill time when you’re to tired to read and got nothing else.

  5. Tom April 27th, 2009 at 4:33 am

I think you should remove the picture

4 AM and it looks like this? Wow Pete I really don’t envy your job. I get to turn the Yankees off when I get mad but you have to follow them win or lose.

    O’dog,

I’m sorry that was your first impression of me. I cheer for every Yankee. Even Kei Igawa. I had Sidney Ponson’s back even when he failed.

    Nick,

LOL. Are you projecting? Or did babelfish spit out the wrong translation. I said that Joba doesn’t excite me. Nothing more, nothing less.

I live in Israel, 7 hrs ahead of the East Coast, so I appreciate getting something on this blog to read without having to wait until mid-late afternoon. But if only the blogs were about the Yankees!!

Just go to the front of the line and demand to be let through by declaring, “Do you know who I am? I’m Peter Abraham!”

By the way, if you want to try something fun and you’re at the airport with a couple of friends, split up and wait in front of a large crowd of people at a terminal. Then, have your friends come up to you one after another, loud enough for everyone around to hear, and have them say, “Oh my God! I can’t believe it’s you! I love your (fill in the blank here- books, albums, tv show, team) so much! Can I get your autograph?”

Have two or three friends do that, as one or two of them walk away someone in the crowd will inevitably ask, “Who is that?” And your friend can say, “That’s Peter Abraham, he is (fill in the blank). I can’t believe you don’t know him.”

You’ll end up getting a couple of strangers asking you for your autograph not having a clue who you are.

Did this one time on a trip to and from Vegas with some friends from law school- in one airport I was the singer in the fictional band, “Gross Pointe Blank” and in LA I pretended to be on the new Law & Order- had six people ask for autographs. People love celebrities, even if they don’t know who they are…or aren’t celebrities.

    Hey Pete-
Melancon’s MLB debut today sounds pretty unbelievable — in his MLB debut, at FENWAY, it took him 5 pitches to retire the heart of the Red Sox order. Then next inning he gets into a bases loaded/no-outs jam, and escapes unscathed.

I posted a Tweet that Melancon’s debut today could prove to be far more important to the division race than this APRIL sweep. We will see…

    Happy travels!

I’m just wondering what the heck everyone else who is commenting is doing up?

  12. m April 27th, 2009 at 5:12 am

    RustyJohn,

Technically, it’s still Sunday where I am.

BTW. Am so irritated that the Jets got USC standout Mark Sanchez and Shonne Green. Two fantastic picks. Great job.

    Hey Pete!

I said “Hi” to you before the game tonight. It was good to finally get the chance to shake your hand and praise you for the great job you do with this blog.

If it’s any consolation, I JUST got back to Maine from the game. Time for bed!

  14. Rich April 27th, 2009 at 5:14 am

Mark Sanchez will win a SB with the Jets…count on it. As a Giants fan, this sickens me greatly.

    ———

No worries. Sanchez may turn out to be a decent quarterback but his own coach at USC doesn’t think he’s ready for the NFL.

Plus, and this is important, no USC quarterback has ever won the Super Bowl. Frankly, it’s been quite a while since any USC quarterback has even won a playoff game.

Does that make you feel better?

It does me. I’m a Dolphins fan.

  16. m April 27th, 2009 at 5:22 am

    Guiseppe,

It doesn’t really bother me. My team just traded away another USC standout QB. Oddly, he never started a game there, though. :P

BTW, How’s Davonne Bess working out? Pretty good signing, huh? Too bad the Dolphins traded away Samson Satele. Huge heart.

  17. Giuseppe Franco April 27th, 2009 at 5:35 am

Ah, so you’re a Pats fan.

Obviously, I can’t root for the Pats because I’m a Dolphins fan but I don’t hate them either – unlike most Dolphins fans.

Frankly, I’ve always rooted for Tom Brady because I’m also a diehard Michigan Wolverine fan. I have to root for Michigan alums in the NFL and Brady was the most underrated QB in college football when he was there.

Not surprised he turned out to be a good quarterback in the NFL – although nobody could have expected a modern day Joe Montana.

True story, Drew Henson (the former Yankee farmhand) really pushed Brady for playing time when he was just a freshman. That kid was an unbelievable talent but chose the wrong sport when he saw Big George waive his bag of money at him.

Anyways, yeah I like Bess a lot. The guy works his ass off and he’s got great hands. Very quick in open spaces and was their second best receiver last year after a couple of guys went down and Ted Ginn (formerly of the hated Ohio State Buckeyes) continued to play like Ted Ginn.

Spring games in college ball and the NFL Draft always has me itching for football at this time of the year. Can’t wait to see the new pups in action.

Sounds like Melancon impressed Girardi a bit:

“He was able to get out of it, and that’s not an easy situation,” Girardi said. “Fenway Park, bases loaded, nobody out and facing Mike Lowell. He showed me a lot.”

    ————

Believe it or not, Melancon still only threw 22 pitches total. He threw just 17 pitches even though he faced six hitters which included a walk and a strikeout.

    That’s pretty tough to do.

How legal is it to post cell pictures of airport security on the internet? haha
