The Yankees rallied from way back to beat the Angels last night. But there are some serious issues with the pitching staff.

Alex Rodriguez will play some third base today down in Florida. This notebookalso has updates on Nick Swisher, Brian Bruney, Robinson Cano and Ramiro Pena.

For those interested, my nephew (HAH! I SO CALLED IT!) Eli Harrison was born at 5.10 AM. 8 lbs, 4 oz (impressive. The parents are, shall we say, tiny.)

    So excited!

hurry up, al, this train is gettin ready to leave the station! one game back of them, and not even close to our ‘a’ game yet. life, my friends, is good.
how come the stadium was louder last night?

Good size for little Eli. Congrats Rebecca. :)

Marte, Veras and Edwar=I need a strong drink.
The stadium did seem louder last night.
Here’s hoping CC can give us a great outing today. It’s no longer April.

Anyone going to the Yankee game today? I’ll be there in section 201 bleachers… the tall blond guy. Hopefully no rain! This is my first trip to the new stadium :)

    Congrats Rebecca

13-10 and a game behind the Red Sox when we haven’t gotten anything out of Tex, CC or ARod yet. I’ll take it.

The bullpen has been overused and abused the last week. When the starting pitching gets straightened out, the bullpen will follow. Having roles and a normal workload will do wonders for them.

Congrats Rebecca. Being and aunt or uncle is the best, you get to have fun with the kid but can get out when things get rough (dirty diaper) or you’ve had enough.

Have fun with the bowling ball.

    Congratulations Rebecca!!!

  9. Rebecca...Optimist Prime May 2nd, 2009 at 9:26 am

    Thanks!

I am going to see baby after today’s game…because if you can find tickets below face value, you spring. And because the last time I was supposed to go to a game, death got in the way.

So today will be awesome. And if the Yanks start losing, by more-than-9th-inning-comeback, I’ll go see Eli a little earlier than planned

Congratulations, Rebecca! Been waiting for the announcement since I logged on this a.m. Have fun being an auntie! :) Welcome to world, Eli.

So are you going to be Aunt Becky?

Not only do you get to hand him off when you’re done, you can sneak them sugary things and never pay the price!

  12. RhapsodyInBlue May 2nd, 2009 at 9:30 am

    Eli’s coming.

    Congratulations Aunt Rebecca.

I had a rough work week, Veras performance on the mound last evening so depressed me I turned the game off and went to bed believing the Yankees had lost and thinking the only only consolation was that Boston had too.

I really like this Pena kid, watching young talent like him develope is part of the fun of following our team.

Not Aunt Becky and DEFINITELY not Auntie. Seriously, call me Auntie and I’ll release Farnsworth on you.

I am quite fond of Aunt Becca, however.

Lets hope our bullpen can get worked out. Besides his outing last night, Melancon has been awesome. I think he is here to stay. Why we signed Marte to a 3 year deal….wow not a good move. Rivera and Bruney will be an awesome setup/closer tandum. 5 in a row today!! Come on Yankees!

    Aunt Rebecca

Tip from a wise old Uncle.

Never too early to spoil Nieces and nephews with Yankee gear.

  17. CP in DC May 2nd, 2009 at 9:42 am

Congrats Rebecca! Wow, 8 lbs…impressive. Can Eli pitch for the Yankees in the 7th and 8th? Is he a Yankees fan? Spoil him and give him back.

I have 6 nieces and nephews; 3 of each. The oldest is 10 years younger than me so it was more like a sibling relationship.

Anybody find today’s game on Xinngs? I guess they are not showing it. Nor is espn.

    OT Rumblings:

Well there goes my Kentucky Derby pick “I want Revenge”. I will now be rooting for “Chocolate Candy”. :P

Does Omar Minaya need a hug or something? First he tells the NY press that the core guys on the Mets do not have an edge, then some time later he says his team does have an edge? Which is it?
If Cashman did that, some would be booking him a room at Bellevue Hospital.

Aunt Becca it is…. though I have no fear or Farnswurst. If he threw at me he’d miss!

Are we all in agreement about tossing Veras and Edward? Somethign is bound to happen this morning. It’s crazy to keep Tomko in Scranton while those two pretend to be firemen but turn out to be arsonists.

  20. Tantron Willoughby May 2nd, 2009 at 10:44 am

I’d rather take our chances with Young Pena than Aunt Arod.
