I believe the Yankees will be competitive this year. Will that be good enough to make the playoffs? Maybe.

The good news is that I haven't seen any team yet that is clearly head and shoulders above any other team.

The bad news is that there are a lot of teams that can field a competitive team on any given night.

The real problem in my opinion is that this team will have lots of holes to fill in the next 1-3 years because of declining skills and age.

They have no sure fire can't miss prospects in the minors and their track record with signing fill in players is demonstrably weak.

They need to win this year or they need to find a new GM that can bring a fresh perspective to building a roster.

"He did but it was a terrible bunt and they guy at second would have been out if he threw there. Any little leaguer knows that when the third baseman is charging you don’t bunt it to him. Shows his fundmamentals as far as bunting are not there yet."

How many guys on this team even know how to bunt? Bottom line, he got the job done and even if they got the guy at 2nd, odds are Gardner would have stolen 2nd to get the winning run into scoring position anyway.
