We have a winner! Funniest comment in LHYB history is revealed

From “Kingdome” at 11:21 p.m. this evening:

A-Rod will provide the leadership and heart this team needs. He is a winner and a leader. He will show us why he is the best player in baseball and what we missed the past month.

Congratulations. We’ve asked the Yankees to provide a prize and they said Kingdome can buy the $2,625 seat of his or her choice for the next game.

Just when I think Pete can’t sink any lower…

  2. carl

Come on Pete are you serious?

  3. jldraw

From your lips to gods’ ear mate. If A-Rod can return to 2007 and carry this team to the playoffs I don’t think I would be able to find many Yankees fans who wouldn’t take that.

Though I’m sure a much more plausible and sensible answer would be for A-Rod to contribute his bat to this lineup, lengthen the lineup and for our lineup as a whole to put some runs up on the board so our pitchers aren’t pitching for their lives out there each and every night.

    There’s your answer right there.

  4. Don

HA HA, I was almost in tears when I read that

  5. djeter220

The only thing I find maybe inaccurate or “funny” with that comment is that A-Rod is a winner. I know you don’t like the guy but don’t let what he detracts outweigh what he contributes, because he does much more good than bad for us.

  6. DT

    Kingdome is one smart cookie.

Alex will assume the role of Andy Kaufman tomorrow….
“here he comes to save the day”….

Long time reader, first time commenter. Hey Pete: I am embarrassed for you. Be a little more professional. Show some respect for your readers, if not for the players.

  8. Freddy

Here’s to hoping A-Rod can prove you wrong, Pete.

  9. D-G

    Why attack your readers, Pete?

  10. Frustrated Fan

Pete….we know you are an AROD hater, no need to remind us…..but this is lame.

  11. Aardvark

A-Rod will provide leadership? Such as leaving the All-Star game in the 5th inning to see Madonna? or letting Yuri Sucart and Angel Presinal hang out in the clubhouse?

  12. Will

Have some respect for yourself, let alone your readers. Dont make a mockery out of your own blog.

  13. ellen

Oh come on, lighten up. That was funny. Leadership? Really? It would be really ironic if A-Rod turned out to be the savior this year. But I’m not betting the rent on it.

  14. Freddy

And you wonder why A-Rod doesn’t want to do interviews with you…

  15. carl

Well be honest with yourself, Jeter isn’t providing it.

  16. CENTRAL CT YANKEE

Pete: Come on Now…is he not better than Pena or Beroja….Love the Blog…Do not like your hatred of A-ROD…..

Pete: “Why do you think I’m picking on A-Rod, I’m just writing what people published”

  17. Edwards

    A-Rod is a winner

    LOL

  18. schiano

    Very petty of you, Pete.

  19. Viper

Oh please… I would bet that “Kingdome” was joking anyway. Lighten up.

Not even the most avid A-Rod fan is that delusional.

  20. Someone Else

A repeat of ARod’s 2007 is all the leadership we need.

  21. Blackdragon905

Very lame pete…yes Kingdome was over the top, but I didn’t think it was too bad, especially with A-rod showing what we have been missing. Just my opinion though.

    A-Rod is a winner

    LOL

i don’t know if he is. but the team right noe sure ISN’t

  23. Repoko

A-Rod is 0-27 with RISP in the playoffs, dating back to 04. And has not been out of the 1st round in 5 years.

    What “winning” has he done?

  24. Al from BK

A new low. Seriously Pete why attack a reader? He was probably a troll anyway.

  25. swisherrocks

I think it’s time to head to River Ave. Blues

  26. m

It is a little mean. But no one came out and agreed with Kingdome.

Unless he was being sarcastic. Hey, that’s it. It was a joke! Good one.

  27. Incognito

Is it too soon to call it “The Curse of A-Rod”???

Face it; this team sucks and they’ve sucked since the beginning of ‘04. Did ownership really think people would be lining up to pay thousands of dollars a night to watch this team play? I can barely watch on TV.

  28. Peter Abraham

Sorry to make a joke. You can all go back to being so serious now.

  29. miggs

Really don’t want this thread to turn into a Pete/A Rod bash session. There’s a bunch of on field issues that need to be addressed.

Pete I can understand posting the email as the form of a joke. But degrading and calling them out wasn’t really necessary.

Trying to keep the topic back on baseball I’ll repost my comment from a few minutes ago on the last thread…

    miggs

Had a late meeting tonight and didn’t get home until it was 6-4 Rays in the 8th.

Then I saw Damon tie it and Mo blow it. I thought “well its just going to be another bad loss.”

If it was only so simple. I saw that Cervelli was in the game but didn’t think twice about it (I figured day off for Molina or replacing him after a pinch hitter). Then I hear Molina hurt his quad. Mo had “minor shoulder issues”? Holy crap.

These injuries are ridiculous. Its baffling the number of guys going down. They are TOO OLD. After their contracts are done, all the old guys need to go.

    Posada (2.5 more year) Yikes’
    Mo
    Matsui
    Damon
    Pettitte
    Jeter (I know, I know)

Look I love those guys as much as anyone, especially Mo and Jeter. But you can’t sign guys for the past anymore. This is the single biggest problem with this team. Honestly if Jeter is still hitting maybe you keep him around for a 1-2 year deal but where the heck do you play him?

Think about this for a second. A Rod for 9 more years. Tex for 8. CC for 7. AJ for 5. Is that good or bad? I don’t know.

The Sox are known for being cold-blooded with their older vets, guys that have won them rings even. Pedro. Damon. Nomar. It sucks for the fans for a week or so, and then they forget about it as their team rips off a 12 game winning streak and beats the Yankees 5 straight times.

I’d hate to see all those guys go, but that’s unfortunately probably EXACTLY what needs to happen.

I’m not being dramatic. I’m not overreacting. I haven’t even read one single comment from tonight. But I think that’s the way to go. Unfortunately, it can’t be done overnight as there are bloated, absurd contracts all across the diamond. Maybe that’s the problem.

Well, I feel a little better after hearing Mo speakon the postgame. I know he’s a proud man, but he’s also a straight shooter.

And I also understand injuries happen to players of all ages. But a lot of these Yankee injuries are just guys breaking down. Quads, groins, shoulders. More wearing down and breaking down then being injured IMO.

  30. All sorts of riffraff

    Yeah….no reason for that, Pete….

Just some follow-up to some things I’ve read.

I was in section 109 tonight. The stadium was certainly not quiet, and definitely felt more like Yankee F’n Stadium than during my first trip to the new park. The fans were certainly there.

I don’t think I’ve ever broken into tears over the Yankees, but I swear I was close to when Mo gave up the second homer. I don’t make excuses when Mo loses the game. If you beat Mo, my hat’s off to you. It doesn’t happen often.

The bullet Girardi dodged by leaving Veras out there for two innings came back to bite him in the butt with Mo.

That being said…..”arm strength?” Are you kidding me? What was Dave Eiland preparing these guys for, July? Between this and another 2009 5 1/2 inning special performance by Andy, please have this man’s office cleared tomorrow, for Christ’s sake. I really, really miss Ron Guidry right about now.

Those who say it doesn’t take a whole lot of skill to sign the top 3 FAs clearly suffer from severe memory loss and should take up crossword puzzles. THAT comment should be leading off one of Pete’s posts.

It’s sad that this team really needs to think about being a strong three-deep at catcher, but that’s reality. Molina simply cannot be there on an everyday basis.

I am glad we’re getting Alex back. Watching Tex struggle like, and trying way too hard, does remind me of Alex. Without any irony, I do help his presence helps Tex out a bit. That man needs a break, and badly.

    God bless Johnny Damon.

Anyways, tomorrow’s another day, but you’ve got to stop thinking tomorrow’s going to be better and worry about today. Tomorrow may not come one of these days.

  31. talltenor

    OMG! ROFLMAO!!!

  32. Matt

Wow so many sensitive blog readers… Unbelievable…

The only thing A-Rod is going to provide is some home runs and a huge distraction from the debacle of StadiumGate…

  33. DT

re: Funniest comment in LHYB history –

easy Nick, easy. I’m sure PA was joking.

Come in off the ledge, I still think you’re funny than Kingdome.

  34. k-ace

Was really lame, if that was a joke forgot to laugh pete.

You hate arod we know it, just don’t have to blog about your hatred for him and putting him on the spot when its not necessary.

Awesome blog I read daily, but that was a loser move you just pulled.

  35. Giuseppe Franco

Pete is the same guy who said the Yanks were a better team without A-Rod back in late March.

It certainly looks that way, eh Pete?

  36. seattleyankee

    *snort*

    That’s hilarious!

  37. NYYanksFan

What would the NY media do if Kingdome was right?

I haven’t seen a “the Yankees are better off without A-Rod” column in a month and how has the teams chemistry looked since they left ST?

Does everyone look happy in the dugout lately?

  38. A.D.

Encouraging readers not post, seems an odd thing for a blog to do.

  39. The Mad Prince in Pinstripes

This was a wee bit below the belt Peter.

    That’s a good way to lose a reader…

Don’t let your blog’s success get to your head.

Nothing wrong with a little optimism about A-Rod’s return even if the statement was inaccurate.

He’s still one of the best hitters on the team and I can’t imagine he’ll hurt the offense’s production.

  40. NYYanksFan

“Face it; this team sucks and they’ve sucked since the beginning of ‘04.”

Were you saying that in October when they were up 3-0 in Boston?

  41. yanks kiddd

Yanks are like 6 games below .500 without A-rod in his career here and I forget what there record is with him but its way over .500 thats for sure.

  42. Peter Abraham

    You guys are funny.

I never once said the Yankees were a better team without A-Rod. I said they were having fun in spring training.

Meanwhile, I identified the writer as Kingdome. Not his name. Unless it was the actual torn down stadium in Seattle. In that case, I apologize to the KIngdome.

Meanwhile, I love when people say I “hate” A-Rod. Why is that exactly? My life doesn’t change one iota whether he plays baseball or not.

If anything, I love A-Rod. He drives blog traffic, he gives me things to write about and when I make a little joke, it’s funny to see some people get all worked up.

  43. Donnie

Guys, seriously. Come on. A-Rod may be one of the greatest players in baseball, but a winner and a leader? What exactly has he ever won, besides individual awards, like MVP and home run title. And you don’t hear about A-Rod rallying the troops. He’s always been reported as stand-offish and a loner from what I’ve read. When I read that comment on the last thread, I almost said something like, “Well, at least your last sentence is potentially somewhat accurate”.

I know you guys feel like you have to defend A-Rod because he’s one of our own, but that statement was just false to the point that it was humorous, and Pete pointed it out. Even if you think he’s biased against Alex, that statement is ridiculous. He didn’t have to try very hard to make a joke about it, and after the last week of underachieving baseball, he really can’t be blamed.

    Lighten up.

  44. Ace

To all the people getting worked up over Pete’s comment. Get a life. It was a joke. Some of you are so pathetic…

  45. Giuseppe Franco

I never once said the Yankees were a better team without A-Rod. I said they were having fun in spring training.

    —————

Yes, you did. You absolutely did.

I made a point back then that the Yanks needed A-Rod back if they were going to win the World Series and you essentially laughed at my comment in a similar way that you singled out “Kingdome.”

You also pointed to their record in ST and said how well they were playing without him.

You said it and many readers that day called you on it.

  46. DT

I think “Kingdome” is the alias that Selena Roberts uses when she visits here….

  47. Freddy

The Yanks are making me sick. But there is absolutely no reason to lose hope, and here’s why:

    1. There is absolutely zero chance that AJ and CC will have 5+ ERA’s this year. ZERO.
    2. There is absolutely zero chance that Mark Teixeira bats .200 this year. ZERO.
    3. There is absolutely zero chance, no matter how bad they are right now, that the bullpen will continue to pitch to a 6+ ERA.
    4. We’re getting one of the BEST hitters in the game back in the lineup.
    5. Nady, Bruney, and Posada will be back in June, and all will be significantly better than their interim replacements.
    6. Somewhere in Tampa, is a guy from Taiwan who won 19 games in back-to-back seasons not so long ago. Anyone with a brain would assume that he hasn’t forgotten how to pitch. When he comes back, we will have the most formidable rotation in the American League. That is a FACT.

Take all of those 6 things to the bank. The Yankees WILL be in the playoffs this year. You can take that to the bank, too.

  48. CaptainsCorner

It’s time to get the stache…He is playing in AAA for the Rockies. Hitting all of .182. But at least he is a veteran and not a AA rookie. Or we can wait until June to get Zaun when Wieters comes up.

  49. Ace

Freddy, interesting how you didn’t mention there is zero chance Mo will continue his freefall from immortality. You like many of us fear that the great Mariano might be nearing his end.

  50. yanks kiddd

hell yea freddy, thats what im talkin bout. Some positiveness in here!

  51. Bronx Jeers

Come on! I think we needed a good laugh.

I saw that post earlier and was waiting for someone to slam dunk it.

It’s just too perfect to ignore.

  52. JJNJ

Last I checked this IS Pete’s blog… chill out people.

  53. Wower

Hey Pete, do us all a favor and report the damn facts and keep your damn opinions to yourself. Thanks

  54. Marcus

    A-Rod is a wiener!

  55. E-gawa

    I don’t agree.

You comparing Tom Glavine to Ian Kennedy last year was much more funny.

  56. Summer

PS — you’re not funny either. There is no one — NO ONE — who laughs at your Angel Berroa jokes.

  57. Jon

Pete no offense, I have a lot of respect for you in most cases. But this comment seemed a tad rude. I have been following you for over two years now, go to your site multiple times in a day. I can only imagine the absurdity that surrounds you on a daily basis having to deal with us terrible Yankees fans. But I think this time you went too far.

  58. RockinDaBronx

Pete don’t listen to these downers, little humor helps after a 5 game losing streak, thanks for the laugh.

  59. eVizions

I’m gonna have to go and agree with some of what Kingdome had to say. This is exactly what ARod needs. Here is his chance to come in and be the hero. If he comes back and Tex starts hitting, it’ll be because he’s seeing better pitches hitting in front of ARod. If the Yanks start scoring more runs, it will be because ARod is back in the lineup. Hell, even if the pitching gets better, it’ll probably be associated with him somehow. All he needs to do is come back and do what he does (especially in odd years) and if the team starts winning, his image will change. This is his opportunity, let’s hope he takes advantage of it.

  60. YankeesLuv

Is this a Yankees blog or I hate Arod blog? Sorry Pete but that’s kind of jerky of you.

  61. beedogs

    cynical much, pabs? jeez.

  62. Mr. Faded Glory

eVizions, you’re nuts. When has A-Rd ever gotten any credit for helping? He’s only the cause f anything that goes wrong.

  63. Drive 4-5

There was no reason to tear down Yankee Stadium, other than greed. The Yankees wanted luxury boxes and were to determined to get them regardless of how it impacted their average fan. The moat is a monument to the priveledged. The new ballpark is a stain on George Steinbrenner’s legacy. It was designed with complete disregard for the team’s most loyal fans, unless you only measure loyalty by the amount of money you spend for your ticket. The average season ticket holder got screwed.

On top of all that, the new ballpark pales in comparison to venues like Camden Yards. Who dessigned this place? Who’s idea was it to obstruct bleacher seats with a restaurant? Who’s idea was it to set the seats so far away from the ballfield? Who didnt do their homework about the wind currents? The answer is the same idiots that thought they could treat the average fan with disregard. Is it Trost? Levine? Hal? Someone needs to be held accountable.

  64. Baseball Fab

Pete, I find your comments hysterical, and really enjoy your humor. Keep up the great work!

  65. Michael Kei (Igawa)

This “blog” has gotten so weak

  66. Me

ARod has NEVER been a leader on this team. Why is that so stunning to you all?

Pete doesn’t show hatred toward ARod, he’s just realistic.

  67. Ralow

Well, at least Pete admits that he only posts the A-Rod hating stuff to get a rise out of folks and drive blog traffic. Journalistic integrity baby, yeah!!

    Its still getting old though.

And I’ll admit, A-Rod and “leadership” have never been in the same sentence before, we sure could use his presence in the line up. I’m glad he’s coming back. Lets just hope he doesn’t pull a Texiera and start out 2 for 28.

  68. Tom

    You’re a dick Pete

  69. Wang IS Taiwan

Arod’s gonna press when he gets back like he always does when the pressure’s on. How’s that gonna help us?

I’d much rather have an awesome setup guy or catcher joining our team, frankly.

  70. Mike

Pete – That is hilarious!!, F all these other people who think its low. Thats probably the most ridiculous comment I have heard ever. Being a Yanks fan means you support the team, not every dumb steroid using player.

  71. Mike

PS Summer everyone laughs at his Lou Rawls err I mean Angel Berroa jokes, the guy is a awful player and is probably your grandfather.

    Summer
    May 8th, 2009 at 12:48 am
PS—you’re not funny either. There is no one—NO ONE—who laughs at your Angel Berroa jokes.

  72. Ted

    Jeez, Pete.

Did A-Rod steal your 12 foot sandwich or something?

The only time I’ve seen you make a bigger fool of yourself is when I saw you at Foley’s.

  73. William

It’s really annoying that very few sportswriters can combine integrity with proficiency. Pete is great at getting information, so naturally his blog is a place to go. Unfortunately, to get the information, you have to endure an increasingly petty tone. Is it really so absurd to suggest that Arod could be a leader on this team that currently seems rudderless. I have no problem criticizing Arod, but is it necessary to pretty much lampoon a person who has a high opinion of his ability? Joke or not, it’s highly unprofessional.

  74. K-ace

    Lame.

  75. Back to Glory

Pete keep up the jokes and your style. We need a voice to out all of the stupidity and over emphasis on what Arod gives to this team. Yea he puts up numbers BUT when is the last time that numbers won a world series? Unfortunately, this is not a fantasy team. Bring bank .280 Scott brosius and I would be a lot happier. Actually, so woudl everyone else. Get Alex Needles out of here.

  76. Les Deux

    How catty!

  77. Tone

Publicly humiliating a person that comments on YOUR blog to help give YOU more readership and advertising is extremely classless. Farewell to this blog, I can get my information elsewhere.

  78. Back to Glory

sorry william, A rod has never and will never lead anything except the tobloid page of the national inquirer. Hes a primodonna and the consumate loser. The stats are one thing, if you care abotu numbers, but obvously this team has not had ANY success with him but had success without him. Its a simple fact. No one can deny that winning teams come from chemistry, chemistry comes from playing together. Players who play for the jersey and not for thier stats (i.e. steroid heads, cheaters who tip pitches, liars, etc. etc.) simply are not interested in playing for the jersey, only for themselves.

Wake up people. He may be the greatest hitter ever** but he has no ring and is choke artist – plain and simple. Get him out of town.

    **from steroid use

  79. Scott

stick to your day job, Pete. You should know that Yankee fans are going to get defensive about one of their own. We all get it, you hate Arod. No need to remind us every week or so.

  80. Chris

An all new low for Pete! Congrats! Honestly I like the blog for the information provided. Not for the writer. Your news paper could put anyone in your shoes and I would still read it because its up to date Yankee news….I hope you don’t think people actually read it for you Pete.

  81. David

We all know Pete hates any steroid user who doesn’t wear a thong and a mustache. Though A-Rod’s mustache would probably be considered insincere and not a full as Jeter’s.

  82. Steve

Some people on here do not know how to think logically or rationally.

A-rod is a winner because he creates a lot of runs for his team and puts his team in position to win. The rings argument in baseball is the most laughable metric I have ever heard. Baseball is an individual sport masking as a team sport.

An examination of baseball-reference bares out different results than people’s selective memory. The common knock is that he’s great in padding his numbers during a blowout. But did anyone know that statistically, he is at his worst when the scoring margin is <4 runs, but he his at his best when the Yankees are within 1 run, and second-best when the game is tied?

Yes, is tOPS+ with RISP & 2 outs, and his tOPS+ in “Late & Close” situations are both at an 88, meaning he hits worse in these situations than he does on average. But late in games, players always hit worse. Relievers come in to match up with Arod, and it’s his first time seeing that pitcher.

Plus, even though he underperforms for Arod in those situations, he is still better than most players in that situation. In fact, last season, he had one of his worst seasons in “Late & Close” situations, with a tOPS+ of 67. He was 67% as effective in these situations than he’s been on average over his career. Yet, even performing that poorly, he had an sOPS+ (OPS relative to all baseball players in Late & Close situations) of 117. Thus, even when playing like crap, he is still significantly better than the average ballplayer.

The hate needs to stop. I can’t wait for tonight.

  83. JobaLover

A new low Pete, calling out ARid and one of your readers at the same time. Youe have serious ARod issues. The fact that you need to take a shot at the guy any chance you get speaks more to your mental health than anything else.

The sad this is I really used to enjoy your blog.

  84. Steve

People also need to learn the difference between correlation and causation.

Jeter became the Captain in 2003. Since then, we lost in the World Series to an inferior Marlins team (only making the WS because Grady Little made a huge mistake leaving in Pedro), had the biggest choke job in history in 2004 ALCS against the Red Sox, and haven’t been able to hit with RISP since. Since Jeter was named Captain, we lost our status as the dominant AL East team.

Perhaps Jeter’s leadership needs to be questioned more than Arod’s hitting. Jeter never gets fired up, and the players don’t rally for him. I love Jeter, but his free pass is ridiculous. If he cared that much about winning, he would have moved to 3B or learned to play outfield so that Arod could play SS since Arod was a much better defensive player.

I love Jeter, but I’m sick of everyone blaming everything on Arod as if he’s not a competitor like Jeter.

  85. Steve

I don’t think our teams struggles because Jeter was named Captain. My point was showing correlation can be deceiving.

  86. Chris

The jealousy of A-Rod from Pete is astounding.

The only reason that you have a job now is because players like A-Rod give you things to write about.

  87. Back to Glory

I woudl argue that Jeter is not a good leader either. There is no leader ont his team. Arod is certianly not a leader, neither is Jeter – my biggest issue is not backing up Arod when he was struggling and getting booed in 04.

You are saying nothing different from the people I have an issue with. You just named a lot of stats and stuff and then equate those stats with leadership (and then make some strange connection with stats leading to winning).

The stats argument is old man. We all know he puts up great numbers. The point is that numbers don’t win world series. Hitting in big spots does. Having a coheisive team of players that bear down and get the job done. This team simply does not do those things. My evidence is the lack of winning the last 5 years. plain and simple. We can argue all we ant abotu numbers and such. The bottom line is that somethign is missing here and it is that this team doesn’t know how to win; there are guys, like Arod that certianly know how to play baseball well**, no one is arguing that. However, they can’t win. Period.

    **from steroid use

  88. WimmerND

Okay Pete, you’re not an A-Rod hater, you’re just incredibly unfunny.

Seriously, what other conclusion are we supposed to draw when every A-Rod related post is just riddled with snark. Sure, you’re just making jokes, about A-Rod, the same type of joke, every time.

I really wish I could get the real time Yankee updates somewhere else, but you’re good at that part of your job at least.

  89. raymond

arod is a winner??? arod supporters are a freaking joke

  90. Marc in LI

Pete, you’re acting like a typical journalist that thinks they are smarter than their readers. You journalistically jab and take down Arod any chance you get because of an obvious mental hang-up with the guy. Then, when people call you on it, you claim the “humor” excuse and act appalled that your readers’ sense of humor isn’t as sophisticated as yours. You remind me of that witty kid in junior high that kept cracking jokes about other kids’ mothers who eventually went home with a bloody nose while mumbling to himself that “it was just a joke…”

Can’t you see that everyone sees right through you?? Why do you think the newspapers are going under at a record pace? Because they are staffed by journalists that have let their own personal biases infiltrate and take over their work like a cancer. And no, it isn’t the web because the Wall Street Journal has *increased* their circulation. Don’t screw up your blog dude. You’ve worked hard at creating something good here. Your readers are generally a smart bunch but you’re turning away many of those same fans–fans that look upon the Yankees like family and are willing to take the good and the bad in the interest of working with what they have to succeed.

Pete..I love your blog BUT I am a Yankee fan and belittling a person on the team is not cool. If I was a writer for some “Bruce Springsteen” blog and I wrote something like that it would bother you. A-Rod may have had issues but I am going to root for him till the end because he is a Yankee. I think you should show a little more respect for your fans who are Yankee fans first. Just my opinion.

Arod in a way is the worst thing that ever happened to the Yankees, period. His Stats are meaningless like most of his hits HRS, and RBI’s. Been a Yankee fan since Mickey Mantle actually played baseball, and not just signed them at card shows so I have seen em come and go, and the day Arod goes, I hope I am around to see it.

Arod has been a problem since the first day he got here and I knew it would only get worse because thats who Arod is, trouble.

He divides players, and a clubhouse, therefore the team, and has done that everywhere he has been, here would be no different.

Players that stand by him do so because he is their team mate. I doubt he ever stuck up for a teamamte in his life and the only reason he was there for Pettite was because he was told to be there by Jeter and the rest of the boys.

Ever notice in a Yankee on field fight, Arod is always in the back of the pile, even on a dog pile when someone gets the GWH or the GWHR he is always at the outside of the circle, you think thats a coincidence? I don’t its by design, like every single thing this phoney does, its all by design with Arod, always was always will be.

I say its to bad he is untradeable and if Cashman and the Yankees were being honest with themselves, they would say to bad he is untradable as well. Lord knows our team needs help and it sure will not come from him, but you can bet if by some miracle we start to win even if Arod is hitting .150, he will be looked at by some as the saviour.

Arod’s every move is by design, just like his return this early, to “save” the Yankees. Puhleeze, if he really wanted to save the Yankees he would retire and go make videos with that Cougar Madonna.

First the “A-Rod would get a 2 years $10M contract today” comment and now this? You’re a joke Pete. You either really don’t understand baseball or you are so blinded by your hatred for A-Rod you can’t help but continuously embarrass yourself.

If you can’t speak rationally about the man then just do everyone a favor and stop talking about him.

  94. Kevin S.

I found it to be hilarious. If there’s twenty-five things that make a good baseball player, providing leadership and heart while being a winner and a leader is number twenty-six.

  95. deangelo

If only we can all obsess about springsteen and the patriots….if only pete would get a life…..I bet anything pudgy pete emails me then blocks my email….pete is a pussy…

  96. Mike

Peter, if A-Rod was playing for the Red Sox or Mets, your post would be the funniest damn thing these commenters have ever read. But as long as A-Rod is playing for their precious Yankees, he could strangle their puppy to death, and these losers would still get bent out of shape if you said anything negative about him.

  97. Ramondo

Mike..your correct with the fact I would be bent out of shape because I am a fan of the Yankees and guess what…A-Rod is on their team so that makes me a fan of his. That’s what you do when you are a fan of a team. You root for the people on that team. If I was a Sux or Muts fan then I would feel the same way. If that makes me a loser then so be it!

  98. Judge Mills Lane

It’s like the A-Rod “PC Police” are out in force!

8000 Yankee blogs out there, and these gluttons come here day in and day out to read Pete’s latest so=called “hatred.” What a bunch of marks.

Don’t like his opinion, don’t read his BLOG.

    Want FACTS?
Read his ARTICLES. You dopes. No jokes in those.

  99. Becca

Ramondo is right. I would probably dislike A-Rod as much as Pete if I wasn’t a Yankees fan, but I am a Yankees fan. I root for A-Rod because he can help the Yankees (until the calendar flips to October). Why would I want him to do bad? That would mean wanting the Yankees to do bad as well. People are sick of all the A-Rod crap and disses as you can see Pete. It’s lame. You’re definitely right about it driving up the traffic though.

  100. Harley

Nice, making fun of your own commenters. When in truth? That comment resides at one extreme.

Your work re A-Rod shows us the other. On a daily basis.

  101. bob

    Funny how that turned out.

  102. ninksuilkyTic

Sweet blog. I never know what I am going to come across next. I think you should do more posting as you have some pretty intelligent stuff to say.

    I’ll be watching you . :)
