Eh.. I would say Boston has a big edge right now. Papelbon is an elite closer, whilst Joba has only shown flashes of brilliance (not saying he won’t get there though). And I’d take Pedroia over Cano all day any day.

I think you are vastly overestimating the level of finished product Wang was. He pitched in the Yankees rookie league for them back in 2002 and didn’t make his ML debut until 2005. Youkilis is a great player but he’s already 30 years old. You can’t compare him to the young Yankee prospects.

Ellsbury steals a lot of bases and makes some highlight reel plays but he’s not very good on any consistent basis. If you think he’s still going to have a starting job in a year or two if he’s still a singles hitter with a low .300’s OBP then you’re crazy. Lowry is a decent player but far from a star.

If you want to say advantage Redsox based on Lester, Pedroia, and Papelbon fine. But the advantage comes from the Redsox taking the farm system seriously for a long time and not from anything Cashman or Oppenheimer have been doing for the past few years. It takes time to build talent and Hughes, Jackson, et al. are much younger than the Redsox’s younger players. In a year or two when some of our A players start moving up, people will be talking about the Yankees farm system as being among the best in baseball.

First off, I did mention Joba, Cano, and Wang. Please re-read. Second the Yankees didn’t “develop” Wang they signed him as an Int free agent. He got a big bonus to sign he was practically a regular free agent. Youkilis is as home grown as they get. Youk is an MVP candidate and Pedroia won MVP. Masterson and Bowden have both outpitched Hughes so far and Oops I forgot Bucholz who threw A NO HITTER. I love the Yanks and hate the Sox, but anyone who disagrees that the Sox have done a way better job developing their players recently is blind. The opposite was true in the 90s when we grew Jeter Pettitte Mo and Posada. Don’t be blindly loyal. This regime deserves to be questioned.

Justin you make a preopsterous point supported by selective facts. The Red Sawx get major credit from you for developing Youkilis, but the Yanks get no credit for Wang? Did you know Youkilis is two years OLDER.

You give major credit for Lowrie who has shwon little, but say the jury is out on Melky who has outperformed Lowire in every imaginable category.. did you know Lowrie is also OLDER than Melky?

What a bum. Has done nothing for this organization since joining.

Hopefully we never find out the deal to get Johan Santana for Kennedy/Cabrera was real. That would be terrible.

Anyway, get well IPK. We miss you nibbling on the strike zone like a scared rabbit.
