Wonderful win - wasn't Tex incredible. He played like it was the last inning in the WS. Great! Great! He is too talented and has wonderful stats to be in such a slump

Now for Joba, I have known since he first came up that he was going to be a starter and a great one. When it was decided in December that he would start, I was so pleased. It was then announced in the spring that he would be a starter and consider 2b a potential top of the rotation pitcher. He was considered to be the Yankee's future.

About that same time or in ST an article said that Melancon was the propective Joba but would remain in the minors until Sept. Wow - was I relieved for Joba. He didn't have a great ST or early season. But Melancon and Hughes did. He wasn't the same Joba - where was his fire - it went out!

He seems to be back on track after working out that awful first inning. He is a keeper and no doubt will be at the top of the rotation in the coming years. I will wait until his next game, which I believe is in BALTIMORE or better yet Boston, before I do my "I told you so" dance on the previous board I was on that was chock full of Joba to the pen fans and other ilk. His ERA is now .356. Not bad for a young man from Nebraska.

Go all Yankee players and to AJ and CC in the next two games. Isn't it a wonderful day to be a Yankee fan ??

NOTE: The "I told you so dance" comes from the Will and Grace TV show. She got it from her Mother, Debbie Reynolds. It was a delight to see Debbie do the dance.

"Explain this to me, please. If you’re willing to use Mo for two innings, why doesn’t he pitch the eighth inning when you needed him?"

Pete, use your head. How could he know it would only take 11 pitches to get out of the first inning he pitches?

I'm not a frequent commenter, but I have been reading this blog since it started.

The record is clear. On the whole, and for a variety of reasons, Pete likes Joba and he doesn't like A-Rod.

If you think otherwise, then either 1) you just don't read this blog often enough, or 2) too much in Pete's camp to think that he could have personal biases.

I greatly appreciate what Pete does on this blog to get information out there to those of us who follow the Yankees, but let's not make him out to be a big saint or hero incapable of having personal agendas.

*OPPC*
Opt in/Opt out
Members: Trisha, Rebecca, Boston Dave, Nick in SF, Angel, SoS, D, Pepitone, S.A., pat, Dr. Cox

24 Cano - I think I will ask someone else for an interpretation here. I'm not trying to be difficult but I think what we are looking for is members who stay away from the negative, even when the Yankees are losing. And there's a difference between "_______ sucks!" and "wow that wasn't a great at bat." Kind of a qualitative thing. I think the club discourages members who feel the need to write a lousy post with every at bat and every pitch and who are ready to dump every relief pitcher, etc., just because things may go wrong in a game.

If any of the other members have a better/different interpretation, I welcome them to chime in!

Bronx Jeers—that was actually Groucho that said that, I’m pretty sure…

---------------------------------------------------------

You're 100% correct.

Woody says it in a monologue during "Annie Hall" but he says he's paraphrasing Groucho.

Good call.

I've never interpreted Pete's comments to suggest that he thinks A-Rod is a terrible player. I have interpreted them to suggest that he believes that A-Rod has lost a ton of credibility and needs to earn back respect.

That will take time. But he's got plenty of time on his contract to do it.

That's the price of being the face of the biggest franchise in sports, and the highest paid player in history.

All A-Rod really needs to do is prove he is a winner. A ring should take care of that.

Turned on the game as soon as Tex walked.

I think its safe to say that the whiners, bridge jumpers and the like NEED to pipe down and let the game play.

Granted there will be these close games that wont go the way of the Yankees. but thats just baseball.

Got to take the good with the bad. Great freakin' win today!
