Bruney gets his work in
A bit of a rocky outing for Brian Bruney in Scranton today. One inning, two hits, one run, no walks and a strikeout. He hit 94, which is a tick or two below his usual velocity. He threw 17 pitches, 12 strikes.
With two outs, he allowed an RBI double by Andy Marte.
The stats don’t matter so much in these cases. If Bruney feels well, he’ll probably be activated on Tuesday.

I hope he feels good.
Percival with the double fist pump after closing out the Tribe. Where’s the criticism?
I had to re-post this from the previous thread. It’s far too important to be missed.

You know I’m all for the power of positive thinking and it is dis-heartening to know that all the negativity this blog sees when the “chips are down” scares away some good posters.
And Trisha’s club or whatever it is is just a reaction to this negativity.
However I am scared that this club could serve as the first step in a series of unfortunate events that will eventually lead to this:

Excellent – Get Bruney In and DFA Veras.
As long as he felt good, nothing else matters. I’d prefer that he get in another game before coming up to face major league hitters, though
nice answer from Joe on what momentos he’s going to buy from old yankee stadium: seats for his kids rooms, but the best momentos they are going to get are his World Series rings…3 kids, 3 rings won as a player for the Yankees…he wants to give them each 2
Paulie and Cone don’t like the pie…but Mo told AJ to get ready for it
I enjoyed that too Rishi lol. His children must be very spoiled.
As long as Bruney is feeling good, that’s the most important thing.
Now what do they do about Wang? 1 more start in Scranton? Or bring him back?
When ever they do bring him back, which I think will be his next start, I hope Girardi splits up the two lefties.
Is “Yankee Way” code for “not having fun”?
Paul and Coney are sticks in the mud, lol -wow. Coney surprises me – he seems like a fun loving guy. Oh well – pies in the face are funny, lol
wang has nothing left to show in scranton, more shut out innings? He’s not a strikeout pitcher, the fact that he had 12 ground balls and no walks is huge for him.
I hope hes back soon

Yeah pretty much
Guarantee that Francessa starts tomorrow’s show, not about the Yanks 3 wins or the Mets sweep in San Fran, but talking about how we need to stop with the pies because it isin’t the Yankee way.
Pies are awesome for this team.
There’s always room for pie.
Hey, that bullpen is gonna be good once he coms back. Coke will get better. Hes homerun prone but hes fiery which is good. Aceves is pitching great. We have to accept the fact Mo is declining hes 38 . Hell probably have a 3.00 ERA this year which wont be bad. But Coke/Aceves-7 Bruney-8 Mo-9 is good. Well at least better than coke-7 Albaldejo/Edwar/Veras -8 mo-9.
I’m sure tomorrow Francesa will have an hour long discussion on the Gardner play in the 9th. Mixed in with a few proclamations of Jobber to the pen.
We need to get back to just being a team… not this superiority BS and pretending we are above the rest of baseball and should set proper standards and what not and trying to be role models for the world. Can’t have facial hair, can’t celebrate, can’t pie guys etc.
What are we allowed to do? Screw them all. This group of guys needs to create a new “Yankee way”. Out with the old, in with the new
“What are we allowed to do? Screw them all. This group of guys needs to create a new “Yankee way”. Out with the old, in with the new”
I say let them grow facial hair and what do you think Francessa would have to say about Oscar Gamble and his fro?
i think the pie’s are great and good for AJ for being himself on this team of stiffs. This team needed to lighten up and just have fun which will let their talent through. It’s a game, not the damn corporate event that the Yankee organization makes it.
Oh, and Francesca is not going to be mad because the pies are not the yankee way – he is going to be mad because they make him think about food for the next 3 hours and he can’t concentrate on getting his post game thoughts together. The only thing on his mind is the sweet taste of fresh whipped cream.
I’d also like to chip in $100 for the first WFAN intern that pies him on camera. Anybody with me?

Probably. I’ll have to make sure to tune in and see if you are right.
It’ll be the first time that guy ever rejected pie I’m sure.
It is silly kids stuff, normally reserved for young players who are surprisingly heroes in a game. But why would anyone other than the 25 guys who are dressed care?
Wang getting only 1 strikeout might be an indication he threw very few sliders. You would expect more than one in seven innings against AAA hitters, but it’s not a big thing.
And a word about Wells. how can a guy who was NEVER in top shape accuse someone else of “cheating the game”?
How can someone who may have cost the Yankees the 2003 series by not telling them his back was acting up question someone else “cheating the game”???
David Wells was a helluva a pitcher and competitor, but he sure is not the guy to be lecturing anyone else about ethical behavior off the field.

Those 8 fly balls were huge, too. Giving him one extra start for Scranton would be fine. I’m not adverse to giving Bruney one more game in Scranton, either.
