vin --- Why would ARod care how many saves Mo gets?

Or were implying ARod care how many saves HE gets?

Congrats for wining the Pete Abe Trophy for adding an unecessary, unwarranted cheap shot at Alex.

Is Damaso Marte alive? Never seen someone go on the DL and completely disappear.

What if Wang comes back tonight and they finally designate Berroa instead of someone in the bullpen? It can't be Veras since he has no options and he would never get through waivers

My take on it is that Hughes should be left in AAA to get his innings in, or until we get another injury (which inevitably will happen).

Then next year he can take Andy's spot, once he can go 180 IP.

"If Wang is effective then IMO he should be in the rotation. But do we know that yet? As to Hughes, as I said I could be argued either way."

We don't know but due to Wang's proven track record he should be in the starting rotation if healthy. I think the Yankees are relatively sure that he IS healthy therefore he should get his spot back.

"How many people really think Rivera was sent out to pitch the 9th to record (another) save?! The guy needs work to stay sharp – we go through this every single year. I can’t believe someone would think Mo cares about how many “saves” he ends up with."

Agreed. Amazing how everybody gets stupid when it comes to analyzing the Yankees. Everybody at ESPN, that is.

Gus (NY): Big Papi is finished no? he's had over 140 AB's this year and he is SLG .324....I guess he makes up for it in the field right?

Jerry Crasnick: (12:42 PM ET ) Gus, I think the old Big Papi -- the perennial MVP candidate -- has left the building. But I'm not sold that the guy still can't hit 20 homers and knock in 80 runs and not be a drag on the entire offense. We all were writing off Carlos Delgado last year at this time, and he went crazy in the second half for the Mets last season.

If I've counted right, of Toronto's 118 remaining games, 53 are against the Yanks, Red Sox and Rays.

If you're a Toronto fan, the correct response is "Ouch".

WYH,

I read your long post about what the Yankees should do with Hughes and you make good points but I think it's a pretty cut and dry decision.

The #1 priority for Hughes is to have him pitch every 5 days for a full season; something he hasn't done since 2006. Putting him in the bullpen guarantees that he won't pitch on a regular schedule.

It's obvious that Wang is healthy at this point so it's time for Hughes to go. Phil will get another shot later in the season.
