The perfect gift for a Yankees fan
Father’s Day is coming up. Or maybe you’re looking for a good birthday of graduation gift for a Yankees fan. Fear not, loyal readers, we have the perfect solution for you: The Yankees 2009 Media Guide.
The media relations department is selling the guide to fans. It’s 488 pages of history, biographies of every player in the organization and all the records you could want. There are photos galore and plenty of statistical nuggets. You’ll never get tired of looking at it. It is the definitive written history of the club. The beat writers carry it with us everywhere we go.
Here’s the best part: It’s only $20 at the Stadium, on line or over the phone.
If you’re a collector, you can get the same spiral-bound version given to the beat writers and broadcasters. That’s $85. They’re available only on-line or over the telephone. Only 750 are printed and quantities are limited.
You also can get the 2008 media guide ($35.00) and the 2008 year-in-review guide ($15.00).
Here’s how to order:
By telephone: 1-800-GO-YANKS (800-469-2657).
Via the web: Go to:
newyork.yankees.mlb.com/nyy/fan_forum/publications.jsp
Or pick it up at the Stadium via vendors or at the team stores.
Thanks to the graciousness of the Yankees, we have three media guides to give away. The first three people to e-mail me with the correct answers to all three of these questions culled from the media guide will win.
Here you go:
Question 1: Mark Teixeira’s wife majored in what subject while at Georgia Tech?
Question 2: What Bronx high school did home clubhouse manager Rob Cucuzza attend?
Question 3: How many grandchildren does George Steinbrenner have?
First three correct answers win. The Yankees will mail you the guide. We’ll have more of these contests down the road.
UPDATE, 11:01 a.m.: We have our winners. Congrats to Melanie, Matt and Howie. Your guides will be on the way. Keep an eye out next month, we’ll do this again.
Please, no more entries. Thanks.
The answers:
Industrial design … Mount St. Michael HS … 13.
Thanks to those who entered. Meanwhile, do yourself a favor and get the guide. You’ll enjoy it.

how many posts before someone posts the answers?

Question 1: leigh teixeira majored in industrial design

i think we’re supposed to email him, not post
Mike. Email, dude. Email.
That screws it up, now doesn’t it. Luckily, I sent my answers in before you posted that, I think.
Those are some tough questions, Pete. Bonus question: How many great-grandchildren does Angel Berroa have?
Steve B,
lol. I was talking about mechanical problems in ST. It was identified and fixed at the time. We’ll see about the current “issue”.
Mike The Italian:
You’re certainly not Mike The Genius. You were supposed to e-mail. Pay attention.
1-Engineering
2-Mt. St. Michael Academy
3-Steinbrenner has 13 grandchildren
Some very interesting matchups in Cleveland. Not happy at all how we played Cleveland at NYS, we should be able to crush a team as bad as them.
Wed, May 27 @ Texas 8:05 PM Burnett (2-2) Holland (1-1) Tickets
Fri, May 29 @ Cleveland 7:05 PM Pettitte (4-1) Lee (2-5) Tickets
Sat, May 30 @ Cleveland 7:05 PM Sabathia (4-3) Carmona (2-4) Tickets
Sun, May 31 @ Cleveland 12:40 PM Hughes (3-2) Pavano (5-4) Tickets
Mon, Jun 1 @ Cleveland 7:05 PM Chamberlain (2-1) Jackson (0-0) Tickets

Is the non-spiral version limited, or is it just the spiral version that is limited?
“You’re certainly not Mike The Genius. You were supposed to e-mail. Pay attention.”
LOL!!!!
Spiral version is limited, other ones are just normally bound.
Crap, people are fast. I just got it done at 11:10, lol.
Great…Iwinners probably looked in the comment section while someo us took the time to use ask.com to get the answers.
haha.
L/L matchup
Former 1/2 punch matchup
Infirmary matchup with stretchers in foul territory
And then a deja vu matchup with Burnett/Holland again.
I was hoping for a day game, but I’m now glad it was scheduled like this after they played deep into the night last night.
I noticed that ESPN360 is playing the Yankee game tonight.

Hilarious! You had to know someone would post the answers!
This could be a good thing for the Yankees:

Even funnier that I was scouring the internet for answers instead of patiently waiting and checking the comments.
“Sat, May 30 @ Cleveland 7:05 PM Sabathia (4-3) Carmona (2-4) Tickets”
This, to me, means no FOX!!!!
Thanks for the tip Pete Steiner!

Trisha,
Interesting, but even I have my doubts about the Yankees abilities to map anything out.
Either they have some super duper double secret plan or they’re just going to ride Phil Hughes’s hot hand for now. Hopefully, for the Yankees sake Phil stays hot for a while because when he’s on, the boy sure can pitch.
Also, forgot to mention Melky yesterday. I hope that he’s not out too long. When he comes back, we need to see less of Swisher. Swish is still the man, but something is up with the guy. Put him back on the bench for a stretch, and then let him go crazy like we did when Nady went down.
Last year after 9 starts AJ was 3-4 with a 4.94 era. fyi
I thought the best gift for a Yankees fan was a championship…
Unfortunately, I work with a bunch of Sux fans, and they tried to help me win the Yankee prize with their vast baseball knowledge.
Answer 1 – definitely shopping.
Answer 2 – Ex-cuzza who? Is that pardon me in French?
Answer 3 – Trick question. Wasn’t Hank adopted?
I’ve got a stack of these things dating back years. Tons of great info. I’d love to get the spiral bound edition as mine get trashed, but $85? Whoa.
Sounds like a cool gift!
$20 is too much for a paperback…
Thank you Pete… my father’s day shopping is done.
Hi,
I just don’t know what to get Dad for Fathers Day this year, I always try to find something new and exciting for him each year. I have no idea! Someone help! He likes sports and painting. Not sure what I am going to do this year, maybe my sisters and I can club together and buy him a track day which I know he will love! At least I have the card already sorted so that’s one less thing to worry about. This year I am going to be sending Dad an eCard rather than a paper card. He loves his computer, so I am sure that he will appreciate it. I was on the net and came across a cool Fathers Day eCard site that I quite like. Up until now I had not sent an ecard before, but this site made it real simple. Hope this is helpful?
