Kind of odd to see Boggs only scored 1513 runs. He was a lead off man and was a doubles machine, had 3000 hits and played for good Boston and NY teams that had stacked line ups behind him to drive him in. The fact that Jeter is only 13 runs behind him 400 hits the fewer and less seasons played speaks a great deal to just how amazing Jeter has been. The fact that the word "over-rated" was ever associated with him is a joke. There is just one word.."winner". You don't win games if you don't score runs and he has done an exceptional job of both.

Street and Bell are both very good pitchers and would be great additions. No way on earth the Yankees are trading Montero for a reliver... ANY reliever.

Jeter's accomplishments are remarkable. I've written here many times that I consider "runs" to be the most under appreciated stat in baseball. He's going to be way up the list when he's done, which will be no sooner than after 2011 and likely later. Way to go Captain!

forget Houston Street ... when the Padres go into "sell" mode and finally convince Peavy to accept a trade somewhere, then I would imagine everyone with the exception of Adrian Gonzalez (the true face of their face of their franchise) will be expendable. Heath Bell is the one to target. He has come into his own this year as a closer, but up until recently has been used primarily as a set up reliever. If he is willing to accept going back into that role to pitch for a contender (instead of being a closer for a lousy team), then that is the guy we should target to upgrade the pen.

Jeter needs just 90 hits to pass Luis Aparicio for most hits all time as a shortstop.
