Gosh darn it Pete, you are so smart. As a Joba to the pen proponent, I finally see the light. Why would I want him to be a setup man his whole career. Oh wait. Nobody does, and yet you can’t seem to grasp that fact. Jeez.

Hey you’re preaching to the choir with Banuelos and Marshall. And yes, I remember well the shoulder soreness Betances had last year and the extensive elbow issues while he was at Staten Island.

His first year was shoulder tendonitis, and his first time with the forearm issue, he was shut down for 5 weeks. This time it was only about 3 weeks when he starts pitching. I wouldn’t be shocked if he was sent to Dr. andrews or Dr. Jobe to get this checked and fixed. Otherwise, it could keep reoccurring and really stunt his growth.

Banuelos is a fun kid to watch. If he’s healthy, I’d say within three years, he’s in NY.

Marshall is another 19 year old that’s doing pretty well against older competition.

The last of the rotation is David Phelps, and he has the goods. He should move fast after coming out of Notre Dame.

Yup. It’d be great if he avoided it, but the sad truth of the matter is that he may actually be best-served longterm if he does ultimately get the surgery.

I’m sure that somewhere along the line, Betances will end up with Tommy John Surgery. He’s a big kid with long arms and legs and he’s not compact or smooth at all. He’s had arm/shoulder issues for his three years….nothing serious, seperately, but, all added together, it possibly will be.

“Not a problem. It was just a soreness and nobody seemed to be concerned. He’s young and they just wanted to keep it in check. On the good side, the Charleston kids are all healthy and pitching like crazy….especially Banuelos, Marshall and Noesi.”

GB. Yeah, I’m sure it is minor soreness at this point, but I’m just weary that he will ultimately require TJ. I really hope it never comes to that but he’s had forearm stiffness each year since he went pro.

And RE: the Charleston kids, I really would love to get a look at Banuelos, Marshall and Brackman. Lot of talent obviously and Noesi – who is trying to put a PED suspension behind him – has been surprisingly dominant since moving to the rotation.

Banuelos is just incredibly mature. I’ve heard he’s already touching 93-94 mph. As an 18 year-old lefty that is premium talent. Not to mention his pitchability, mound presence, confidence, secondary stuff and an overall “beyond his years” quality.
