Great Hall meet and greet
Here’s a photo the Yankees sent of Joe Girardi meeting fans before the game in the Great Hall. I went over to watch. A lot of the fans seemed stunned to see the manager greeting them as they walked in.
It was very fan-friendly of the Yankees to do this. The plan is to have these events once a homestand. Good idea.

Here some photos I snapped of Brian Bruney and Brian Cashman meeting the fans:

See? The *Free Wang!* shirts worked.

You pay those prices for Stadium tickets, you buy the right to boo anyone. Especially the highest-paid player in the history of the game.

Sure they have the right to boo. And I have that same right to call them idiots for doing so.
It goes both ways.
This is a really cool thing for the Yankees to do. It’s really startling to see them do something like this and yet their security and staff can act like such jerks to the paying customers (from what I’ve read online).
Let’s just hope the Yankees keep winning from here on out.
Btw, Alex pretty much said himslef that he played like garbage today. It’s alright — for that matter, it’s gonna happen to everyone over the course of a season.
When you play well, people cheer. When you leave 6 guys on base in a close game, people will boo.
It’s not that complicated or that big of a deal.
OK, I’m going to be incredibly arbitrary and fly in the face of everything I’ve learned about stats, but what the hell? Everybody knows how Swisher got hit on the elbow May 1 and went into the tank, right? Well, for the month of June, he’s .571/.667/1.000. Yeah, it’s nine plate appearances. So what? I’m going to blithely pretend that turning the calender has magically transformed him back into beast mode.
Perhaps Andy Pettitte could take part in the next one… After the Yankees put on the DL, or in a retirement home where he belongs.
Anybody know if Pettitte is actually hurt, or this like his “shoulder injury” that TWO MRI’s never found last year???
Pettitte will be fine as long as he’s healthy.
That’s all I care about.
He’s NOT healthy, and he lies through his teeth about it, just like always.
Meanwhile, Hughes just got yanked from the rotation… If Pettitte cared as much about this team as he does about his incentives, Wang would have started tonight and the rest of the rotation would have stayed put.
I see somebody was beaten over the head with an idiot stick.
Say what you want. But this isn’t 2008. If Pettitte isn’t right, the Yankees have better options. It’s that simple. Pettitte trying to pitch when he’s hurt does nothing but hurt this team.
“So what? I’m going to blithely pretend that turning the calender has magically transformed him back into beast mode.
”
Swisher was doing great the last few days of May as well. He’s certainly back. His swing looks better than it has been all year. Hopefully he starts hitting at home as well as he hits on the road.
Just don’t throw changeups to Swisher because he has a better chance connecting with Venus than making contact with that pitch.

But why not do it to everyone else who makes an out?
Excellent use of players on the DL who are rehabbing with the team.
our pen is going to be tested against the rs.
i hope we are up to the task.
The Yankees must have done this in response to the NY Times article a few days ago about how unautograph-friendly the new stadium is.
