We are at seven “Joe Girardi should be fired” e-mails so far and counting.
Girardi said after the game he was only going to use Mariano Rivera for a four-out save, not five or six. He also said he preferred using Sabathia as opposed to anybody else. Can’t blame him for that. A worn down Sabathia is better than anybody in that bullpen outside of Rivera.
Bad spot for Alfredo Aceves, who had never before entered a game in the middle of the eighth inning. So you want to be a set-up man? Try and get Kevin Youkilis, Jason Bay and Mike Lowell out without letting either of the two runners on base score. What were the odds?
Bad as it looks now, the Yankees are two games out.
“Lots of games left,” said Alex Rodriguez, who was nearly a hero. “We’re a good team, we’ll be back.”
At least they’re not playing Boston again until August.
