The Pit Bull section snipes at each other on this blog and is vicious and petty!
Who died and left anyone as the final authority?Lighten up folks, this team needs fans to be there for them, not infighting amongst yourselves. Quit it!!!

You all know that Wang had a very good playoff performance and notched their only win in the Detroit series in 2006 correct? He just had a bad series in Cleveland the following year which anyone can have. So one good series, one bad, I think the meme that he's a choker in the playoffs is misplaced.

That being said I don't understand why they need to go back to Wang as a starter when Hughes is a viable option. Wang has shown that he can be a capable pitcher for less than 5 innings and that makes him a perfect candidate for a middle reliever. That and the fact that his sinker can get the Yankees out of a 2 on no out jam makes it a no-brainer for me.

On what basis are people being critical of Cano for grounding out? Who can control such a thing?

I fear the closest thing Wang will ever be in 2009 is Kei Igawa of 2007. Just that it will cost the Yankees a lot more games.

"I think fans never really warmed to Wang due to his miserable postseason performance. That start vs Cleveland at the Stadium showed him to be weak-willed and wimpy."

some fans are psychologically damaged people who have a need for a win everyday of their lives because of some deficiency in themselves .

they gravitate to teams like the old notre dame football team, the celtics and cowboys in their hey day, and unfortunately the yankees .

these fans aren't really fans at all. they have no clue what has separated the yankees from other teams historically . they don't get gehrig, dimaggio, berra, rivera etc. all they want is their win fix each day to feel better.

since the best teams lose 40% of the time, baseball isn't the sport for this kind of fan.
when they see a player like wang go through a rehab process, all they see are losses . they don't see that sometimes losing in the short run leads to winning in the long run.

all they see is they didn't get their "fix" and their win today.

Mistake to keep wang in. He can clearly only get through about 2 or 3 innings before he gets rocked.

Wang pitched well in the postseason the other 2 years he was there prior to the Cleveland series. He pitched a good game in Anaheim in '05, and he pitched okay against the Tigers in '06. He has also shut down the Red Sox on plenty of occasions in his career (complete game early last year, threw a gem against them in the summer of 2007 at the Stadium)--yes, they have beaten him around more recently, but he pitched some great games against Boston in his career so far.

Wow,

Exactly. He did run hard to first. The 10 year olds on here just can't accept the fact that he did.

So, it becomes fantasy time. Which, all this "Cano didn't run hard" stuff is from the crybaby contingent.

"Carl Crawford couldn’t have beaten out that play."

Carl Lewis couldn't have beaten that out! ;)

I wish I could say I was surprised by the criticism directed at Cano, but he has been a polarizing player on this blog for a long time. There was no shortage of people who wanted to 'sell low' on him throughout last season - I am sure they have all posted apologies while I wasn't looking.

We have had more than our fair share of late inning heroics this year and then when we don't get the clutch hit people go nuts (this wasn't helped by Pete declaring 'sweep or bust' before the series.)

Win the series this afternoon - some offensive explosiveness would be nice - and just chalk up another W and move on. Lannan is the best of a raw bunch in the DC rotation so tip your cap and move on.

IMO, there is a major problem with a portion of both Red Sox and Yankee fan bases and that is unrealsitic expections. It starts with the World Series or bust mentality all the way down to the we must sweep this series mentality. That thinking process in the game of baseball is absurd IMO.
