if i win the legends seats, will they let me sneak ‘up’ into the cheaper seats, so i can avoid the humiliation of watching the game from ‘inside the moat?’

    ham fighters

I got to walk inside the moat on Saturday on my way to the dugout and clubhouse. I felt very special.

    Pete-

I read on Yahoo that Girardi is formally protesting the lineup error in yesterday’s game. If he is sucessful the two teams would have to pick up the game at the 8th inning when it was 6-3 and the loss won’t count yet

Does Girardi actually have a chance for this to happen?

“There have been days where I haven’t felt good, but I haven’t felt that tight. The Assistant trainer… stretches me every day so he knows. It’s not like it’s just coming up. They say it’s very normal for the surgery that I’ve had and say if you shut it down for a few days you start feeling normal.”

….prior to his recent hiatus, (he) came away with just one hit in 13 at-bats during the recent homestand, watching his average dip…

“Because he keeps saying he’s OK, I probably went too long without giving him a blow, which is my mistake….. I think I’ll try to be more aware of that going in the future. But he’s OK.”

All written about Mike Lowell who was given 2 days off this weekend to rest his surgically repaired hip.

in my lifetime, i can only remember one protest ever being upheld, that was the pine tar game where the league overturned the ruling on the field and ordered the game resumed from the point of brett’s home run. amazing that brett was allowed to remain in that game after bull-rushing tim mcclelland and severely bumping him.

btw, lee mcphail who hated steinbrenner was the league president who overruled mcclelland, was completly in the wrong with his ruling. until that time, the ruling on the field was always upheld, even though over the years it had been called both ways, to allow or disallow the at-bat with the tainted bat.

i dont think this is going to be the second overrule i can remember.

Why would anyone want to even spend a dime watching this team go trough the motions against the Washington Nationals in the rain?

  9. Tom in N.J June 22nd, 2009 at 11:04 am

Girardi protested the point that Leo Nunez (Marlins set up man) should have also been removed from the game because he took left fielder Chris Coghlan’s spot in the lineup.

Coghlan stayed in the game-as did Nunez-Girardi argued that it was Nunez and not Coghlan who should have been removed Because both Coghlan and Nunez were in the game after a pitch was thrown. How can a player-Nunez-appear in the game when the player who’s spot in the linup he replaced-Coghlan-didn’t leave the game?

Nothing will happen because the Yankees and Marlins don’t play again.

Nobody is forcing you to watch this team. If you don’t want to, don’t go to the games or watch them on TV.

Believe it or not, most of us on here like watching this team. We realize there are times, like now, where they will play like garbage.

We also realize they are a pretty good team or they wouldn’t be where they are at the present time, despite not playing well for 2 weeks.

If you believe otherwise, go somewhere else to cry.

There’s no crying in baseball. Something our crybabies fans should have figured out by now.

i watched the senat…i mean nationals series on washington’s broadcasts b/c im getting so sick of yes…dibble is fun to listen to doing a game. he’s opinionated and funny. im sure he’d annoy me like hell over 162, but for a 3 game series, he was a breath of fresh air.

The solid posters that are interesting to read IMO not only enjoy watching the Yankees but are a fan of baseball in general as well. It seems to me that some posters who are overly critical are not fans of the sport in general. THey see the season as 162 NFL games.

“Nobody is forcing you to watch this team. If you don’t want to, don’t go to the games or watch them on TV.”

That’s what I don’t understand S.J. I asked the question the other day: Why would somebody root for a team full of players they can’t stand or hate?

I do realize that some of the “fan” reaction posted here is frustrated hyperbole, but I don’t understand the constant whining by some here. I guess WFAN must have a busy signal…

Morning, Dennis. I just read where you took your pet skunk….errr….dog for a walk and sniffed the smell of wood smoke. As far as I’m concerned, there’s not a better smell in the air. Spring and fall are the best times of the year.

This is OT and I’ll probably get banned for using that vulgar four letter combo, ESPN, but, did you guys see the 10-15 minute piece they did last night on Payne stewart and his son? That was as great apiece of work as I’ve seen them or any sports network do on a look back-look ahead on a deceased athlete and his son. If you get a chance, it’s well worth the time.

    Hey man,

Hope you had a great weekend. I did not see it but now will make a point to check it out. Thanks for the heads up.

    I hate off days.

    Dennis – good point.

SJ – The internet is nothing but instant functions. Instant analysis(ex. your nephew{Congrats, if I didn’t say that already}), instant messaging, instant frustration over a bad Yankees stretch. The funny thing is people want to be able to post whatever they feel like on a blog, but no one should be able to rip said opinion. I just find it interesting that some blog names seem to never pop up until we hit a bad stretch like this. Then suddenly, they’re making 5 “woe is me!!!!” posts a thread. Until we start winning again.

Dennis that is a good point. There are baseball fans and there are Yankees fans.

Hey, Dennis. I’m hoping they reshow it or it may be on line. If I can find it, I;ll post a link. Stewart’s wife did an interview that was…really sad. I didn’t know that she found out about the trouble until she saw it on TV and for about 90 minutes, the TV posted how much time and fuel was left before the jet crashed.

    Does anyone collect McFarlane Sportspicks?

I saw it before the US-Egypt football match, GB. It was a great piece. I also found it mildly curious, like someone else previously mentioned, that Payne’s daughter didn’t do an interview. Good luck to Payne’s son. Ironic how he’s playing his next match at the same course his father won the US Open.

Dennis, Here’s the video on the Payne and Aaron Stewart piece. It’s called “Healing Through Golf: Aaron Stewart’s Story”.

I know it’s not baseball related, but I’m really pulling for Phil Mickelson to win the US Open. It would be a great story.
