A-Rod set to do “a fine job”

This comment from A-Rod should cheer you up:
“I’ve got to take it one day at time. I certainly don’t think it’s going to be a bad year. I think I’m going to do a lot of good things to help the team win. I have complete certainly I’m going to do a fine job.”
Well, complete certainty. You can’t ask for much more than that. As your his slump, maybe it’s October on the Kabbalah calendar. Somebody needs to check that out.
In other news: Wang will start Sunday. Hughes is being held back in case he’s needed on Friday. … Girardi said he would consider changing the lineup. … Yankees 5-8 against the NL and 15-16 in interleague games under Girardi. … Cody Ransom on his way from Scranton. No word yet on the corresponding move.

LOL!
only 8 and a half more years…
so from the subway series to now is a time comparison
Is Berroa finally gone?
“Maybe it’s October on the Kabbalah calendar. Somebody needs to check that out. ”
http://www.sadtrombone.com/
again lucky we still have tomko… no one takes more time to release a piece of crap then yankee management…
berroa and tonko are still on this team.
if damon can play tonnorrow sit mr swisher and play gardner. swisher needs to hit 8th he is a very frustrating player…he does not make enough contact to hit where it matters….
“Is Berroa finally gone?”
No the DFA’d Alex.
YES !!!….. BRETT FARVE IS BACK !!!
Who the hell cares !
And Pete helps to promote and fuel the BS on this blog by posting such crap like this.
What’s A-Rod supposed to say?
“I just don’t think it’s going to be my year. This team doesn’t have a chance to turn it around.”
The new math is: Cody here = Berroa gone.
Melancon should at least be given a try over Bret Tomko. We know what Bret Tomko brings to the table. We have no clue about Mark.
Should we harp on what Arod says when he is slumping or what we never hear from some of these “leaders” on this team to light a fire and kick some tail to motivate someone?
Those that want AROD DFA apparently didn’t watch the beginning of the year with his repacements. Gee, think it is bad watching this lineup hit??? What was it like then? 3 automatic outs every game in a row 7, 8 and 9.
It isn’t Pete’s fault that Arod is an ineffective oaf.
If I could punch one person in their man parts it would br bret favre. Then I would tell him that no one cares about him anymore
John it’s a joke, but I’d bet Alex gets DFA’d before Berroa
Typical Peter, he can’t help himself.
YES !!!….. BRETT FARVE IS BACK !!!

Why does thinking that Girardi should be fired make a person anything other than reasonable and sagacious?
————–
Because it’s not going to happen. This is not the 1980s and The Boss doesn’t run this team anymore.
Besides, firing Girardi is not going to fix the problem. I’m more interested in fixing the problem than changing the window dressing.
Arod is more concerned about Kate Hudson and staying out til 6am with her
Pete isn’t making it hard to look for a new beat writer to follow.
Phil couldn’t pitch for another 2 or 3 games anyway coming off of 2 innings tonight….. If he has to go instead of CC, how many inning could he go? 4 or 5, if that?
“If I could punch one person in their man parts it would br bret favre. Then I would tell him that no one cares about him anymore”
LOL
“Maybe it’s October on the Kabbalah calendar”
LOL Pete, you’re 2 for 2. Thanks for the continued great work and killer wit.
That sounds very similiar to what Teixeira said in April.
TylerKepner: Derek Jeter: “We didn’t hit, we haven’t hit, that’s why we’ve been losing. It’s nothing deeper than that.”
You’re right, GF…….my word, Alex can’t breathe without Pete saying something.
“Arod is more concerned about Kate Hudson and staying out til 6am with her”
That 2 AM and I bet he’s not the only one.
basically when alex signed that contract it was like the yankees signing away the next 10 years of no more championships
I think the Girardi/Long hate is misplaced.
Folks, this team was pulling this offensive disappearing act under Torre.
Only difference was they were using the first two months of the season to pull their disappearing act.
Usually by this time, they were starting to hit on all cylinders.
What’s happening right now is tough to stomach as a fan. This team should be winning 2 of 3 regularly but watching this kind of uninspired hitting is just draining.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with people who come in and vent here.
This isn’t the Pollyanna Yankee Fan blog. It’s a Yankee blog.
They are playing terrible right now. If they continue this brand of play for another week the media will be calling for Joe’s head.
The problem is these players are a mess. I don’t particularly like the feast or famine offense this team plays with.
I’d rather see a more balanced team that didn’t have the apparent glass jaw this one does.
They’ll bounce back from this for sure, but with all these games they are giving away the 2nd half of the season will yet again be a sprint.
I just don’t know that some of the horses on this team are capable of the sprint anymore.
pat June 23rd, 2009 at 11:33 pm
That sounds very similiar to what Teixeira said in April.
————-
Yes it does. And some of the same people laughing now were laughing at Teixeira back then.
But that’s what they do.
at least the rays lost, and the rangers are losing. Angels are winning though
Jeter you have been hitting into many double plays. It is deeper than that.
In reality here’s what we got.
Joba vs. Kawakami – need a win and a good start
Andy vs. Lowe – tough game, but at least they know Lowe
CC vs. Pelfrey – Mets offense and Plefrey has been poor lately
Burnett vs. Redding – even the Yankees at their worst will punish Redding with their lefty bats.
Wang vs. Livian – Livian again should be crushed.
Matchup wise and I do realize they are playing awful, there is no excuse even as bad as they have been to win less than 3 of these games. Win 4 and it’s a start to getting back on track.
Why is cano still batting 5th? he never gets a hit with risp, and why did joe take out wang after 5 innings? he has no idea how this game goes… and why didnt mo pitch a inning today? he hasn’t pitched in years… and if we will have tomorrow a save situation he’ll blow it bec he’ll be rusty… and has joe forgoten that he has bruny in the bullpen? his one strong thing last year was the bullpen but this year he’s really messing it up… WAHHH…….. GIRARDI MUST GO!!! And one last thing if i may… posada chases sh** and throws sh**….
Yeah and Tex always has slows starts. This has been a problem with arod for 2 months now and he is really showing nothing to turn it around
The Yankees have become predictable and boring. They are not even interesting anymore.
In other news, The red Sox pounded Lannon and the Nats tonight. The Yankees need to get to the level the Red Sox are at.
I just want to see if anyone cares.
BRETT FARVE IS BACK !!! LOL
I thought I was panicking until I saw the post from TIME FOR #27..that guy must really be on the GWB
AROD is totally useless. He looks like..well THE GIAMBINO!

Yeah and Tex always has slows starts. This has been a problem with arod for 2 months now and he is really showing nothing to turn it around

He’s not going to bust out of it overnight by going 5-for-5 with 3 dingers after a couple of days off.
It doesn’t work that way. How long did it take Teixeira to get his mojo back once his wrist healed up?
“Hughes is being held back in case he’s needed on Friday”
That is absolutely ridiculous. He hasn’t started in 3 weeks, his arm isn’t built up to start a game. What is the most he can give them 50 pitches?
TIME for #27. Can’t agree with you more on Robbie. I have been complaining about him batting 5th for a while now. It has pushed him back into his old bad habbits. He really looked like a new hitter to start the year, consistently taking some pitches, seeing what the pitcher had to offer. He is playing stickball out there, anything thrown he simply tries to hit unless it is well out of reach. When he was focusing on his pitches he looked like he might reach his potential.
The way they are using Hughes will get his arm screwed up for sure. Why was relief to starter to relief etc such an issue for Joba, but not Hughes? I always believe Phil being injury prone was a joke, but I certainly wouldn’t put a kid in this spot. This season will take a huge turn for the worse and their future will too if they mess him up with this.
What is worse?
A. The Yanks losing 6 games in the standings in 2 weeks
B. People complaining about the Yanks losing 6 games in the standings in 2 weeks.
Hint: The answer is A.

Im ok… im just saying whats need to be said…
How’s everyone doing? Enjoy the game?
Call me crazy, but I think Chien-ming Wang is the best 0-6 pitcher in baseball. Wang vs. Livan on Sunday Night Baseball should be riveting theater. The Innings Eater vs. the Diapers Changer.
In the meantime, I’m actually looking forward to the return of Cody Ranson. I think he will do a fine job. In fact, I have complete certainty.
It makes absolutely NO sense what they are doing with Phil. Friday is all of 3 days away……….and he just pitched two innings tonight. John, I agree with you – I hope they don’t go back and forth between starting and relieving with Phil.
And the sad thing is that wang is ganna get blamed for the loos…
Pistol Pete is on fire!!! Maybe ARod has been spending too much “quality time” with man-killer Kate Hudson to actually play well. Curse of ARod lives
ARod is the next prime candidate for Bill Simmons’ Ewing Theory. As soon as a teams “best” player leaves, the team becomes great. Also known as the Tiki Barber theory.
I hope they turn it around quick….like the next two nights. I have tickets to the remaining series in Atlanta. Anyone else going to be there?
The Red Sox play the Yankees and kill their spirit, just like the positive posters kill my rational spirit.
Invite Kate Hudson to the outfield stand and than A-Rod will homer.
I wish I was going to be there, yankeenate. I recommend Daddy Dz BBQ while you’re in town. I prefer it to Fat Matt’s.
Arod is a complete dork. He really needs to keep his mouth shut. It does him no favors.
I think Phil will be fine for 5 innings. He barely breaks a sweat going 2 as a reliever.
I don’t think we’ll see him though. But that’s good news because you need a healthy dose of Vitamin CC.
People need to stop freaking out about these pitchers.
“As soon as a teams “best” player leaves, the team becomes great.”
——–
like when Jordan left to play baseball? Or after Larry Bird retired? I wonder how the Lakers would do if Kobe left.
Or maybe when Tom Brady went down last season? I’m sure the Colts will be fine after Peyton Manning. After Barry Sanders left, those Lions went on quite a tear.
If a theory works 4% of the time, it’s probably not very good. For every “Tiki Barber” situation, there are 1000 examples that didn’t quite work out.
bottom line: Yanks need ARod to pick it up and help get this thing turned around
ARod is to saying something smart as Betsy is to controlling her irrational thought process.
I don’t really know what else A-Rod is supposed to say. I think he’ll turn it around like he says. The whole team is in a massive slump right now so I don’t think you can just make him the scapegoat. This is still a team with the highest team OPS in the league and it looks like Wang is getting back to form.
Sorry, just trying to be positive. That’s still allowed here, isn’t it?
Wang IS Taiwan June 23rd, 2009 at 11:51 pm
Arod is a complete dork. He really needs to keep his mouth shut. It does him no favors.
———–
I don’t know. It seems the dork in this case is the guy who found it hilarious to write a post about A-Rod telling the media that the team will turn it around.
Who looks like the bigger dork here?
Is it really A-Rod?
I certainly don’t think so.
Heck, even I want the Yanks to win some games and make this an entertaining race. Games won’t be much fun for Boston fans, either, if they don’t have any meaning until the playoffs start.
“ARod is the next prime candidate for Bill Simmons’ Ewing Theory. As soon as a teams “best” player leaves, the team becomes great. Also known as the Tiki Barber theory.”
Big problem w/ this theory, The Giants got better w/o Tiki, The Knicks got worse, The Yankees are under .500 by alot of games w/ no ARod. So this theory is srsly flawed.
Anyone else not care about A-rod?
Of course I wish he were 100% and hitting better. But otherwise he doesn’t move the needle for me.
Arod really living up to his batting music
“Amazing” by Kanye
“the sad thing is that wang is ganna get blamed for the loos”
I blame Lonn Trost for the loos.
But I thought those were supposed to be a big upgrade?
And what the heck is this, Wimbledon?? We call them bathrooms here, pal!
Hey Boston Dave, OPPC member, when was the last time this team did anything positive with A-Rod? You “positive” people really need to step up and smell the coffee. A-Rod is a joke: he’s a roider, he’s a liar, he’s a cancer.
Nick in SF did you hear Brett Farve is back
What could A-Rod have possibly said that wouldn’t have resulted in this type of response? No matter what the question is, Alex can never give the “right answer” to the media/critics. It’s really absurd. If Jeter was going through a slump and said this exact same thing, everyone would be praising his work ethic and upbeat positive attitude. And nobody should dare try and deny that.
As a Dolphins’ fan, I can attest how well that team played since Dan Marino retired.
It took a Tuna and a Chad to get that team back into the postseason again.
“I don’t know. It seems the dork in this case is the guy who found it hilarious to write a post about A-Rod telling the media that the team will turn it around.

So now the optimists are personally attacking the owner of this blog. Wow. Someone should send this to Pete.
This team has not played well all season regardless of their record, so even if things do turn I would caution being to optimistic.
REASON WHY: The only difference with this offense between now and a few weeks ago when they were winning a ton of games is a few weeks ago the offense did not show up for the first 6 innings of the game. Now, the offense is not showing up for 9 innings.
Hey all.
-dennis
I don’t think what Alex said is out of his norm. But Jeter wouldn’t say he’d do anything with any certainty.
“So now the optimists are personally attacking the owner of this blog. Wow. Someone should send this to Pete.”
Pete com’on give it up we know it’s you.
A lot of nastiness tonight. It’s been tough watching the games lately, I think any fan would say that. Game threads stink, the only light is Haiku-Man, aka Dynasty is Destiny. But the game threads were boring anyway when they were winning, optimist clubs being formed, cheerleading and whatnot.
Anyway, I hope the winning ways start tomorrow and the Yanks are relentless from there on out.
Pete, find another target. The A-Rod stuff is non-stop. Go ask Joe why Cano is batting 5th.

Dennis, that’s extremely generous of you and Amy, but, that’s a lot of expense and work. I assume that she makes her own frames, also. What I’d really like is to look at her works and just admire artistry. Perhaps when ya’ll return, we can have lunch and I can have a personal tour of her work.
Pete Rocks. A-Rod is the true phony. I love how Betsy was so quick to dis Verduchi the other day, when he was merely pointing out how much A-Rod hasn’t been good.
When will people finally start to realize that A-Rod just isn’t that good?

This team doesn’t even play in October in 2007 without A-Rod. There’s no question about it.
At this point, the complainers would be happy with a playoff spot.
The hard truth is that the Yankees are too reliant on A-Rod’s production, which is a troubling commentary on the construction of their roster.
Alex Alex Alex.
Enough about Alex. It’s like a friggin obsession for some. There are other people on this team who did not come through. Healthy people on this team.
I really hope that Damon can return to the lineup soon. They need his bat at the top of the lineup. It probably won’t be tomorrow since Girardi had someone running for him today. So hopefully by the Mets series, and he better bring his glove with him.
Alex has an excuse. Ortiz, Vlad Guerrero (1 HR/10 RBI), Giambi, and all the other DH’s? Not so much. Pretty wacky season. Nobody’s really running away. Boston’s pulling away, but they weren’t so hot last season. Tampa was setting the pace.
92 games left…92 games left…

well, he’s with the Yanks for a long time.
I’ll take my chances with him and root for the Yanks to win whether it’s because of ARod or in spite of ARod. (I happen to think it will be the former)
If you want to be miserable about it, so be it. Doesn’t sound like it’s much fun to follow a team that you hate so much. But what do I know…
Where’s Betsy? I need her opinion on why she feels bad for A-Rod.
BloggingBombers: Don’t wanna make it sound like A-Rod was the only goat tonight. No. 2-6 hitters A-Rod, Swisher, Posada, Teixeira & Cano went 1-for-19. Yuck.

How can Brett Farvre be back if he never goes away…
But no, I have not heard the latest news. Are you getting Brett Favre mixed up with Cody Ransom?
dennis, I checked out that link you provided, your better half is very talented. Thanks again for sharing.
A-Rod made Jeter ground into a double play. Twice.

Oh and he made Posada strike out…4 times.
Jeez Pete, you have such a man-crush on Arod. He’s not the only one who’s stinking up the field. Where are the snide comments on Jeter’s quotes?

LoHud Yanks is not a social networking site.
Shouldn’t you be out for your midnight constitutional anyway?
The warm milk awaits your return…
“How can Brett Farvre be back if he never goes away…”
Nick what’s your favorite football team ?
When Wang was back to the rotation on June 4, Yankees are not Yankees. They totally have 7-10. At first, Yankees lead AL , but now they fall 5.0 behind Boston.
But when A-Rod was back in May, Yankees were like a monster. They could find different ways to win games. In May, Yankees did comeback win or walkoff win. They had longest winning streak from May 13 to May 21 and 1.5 biggest lead in AL .
A-Rod’s back brings Yankees good luck in May. However, what happened to Wang’s back in June? The same situation, but different chemistry.
carl, why are you so quick to dis Jeter? He’s only been part of a team that gave you four world champions. Jeter has been nothing but a great Yankee, where do you get this idea that it’s cool to dis Jeter? You can have A-Rod. I’ll take Jeter any day of the week. If you take away the baseball achievements, you’ll always end up with a better person than A-Rod.
“The red Sox pounded Lannon and the Nats tonight”
Uh, no. The Red Sox pounded the Nats bullpen. When Lannan left the score was 3-3. The final score is misleading to how close it was for most of the game.
Pete is fine, maybe you people should look in the mirror and realize that your man-crush for A-Rod is not being reciprocated.

Maybe it has already been mentioned on here but I just heard about San Antonio Spurs picking up Richard Jefferson in a trade.
Everyone is saying they made the trade to be more competitive with your Lakers.

RJ, Tony Parker and Tim Duncan, looks very different now.

Actually, Pete and many others care about Alex too much.
The team got 4 hits tonight, left a small village on base, Posada Ked 4 times, Jeter hit into another DP and on a whole they are playing poorly but 99% of the comments and everyone of Pete’s postgame posts include an Alex reference.
What he says, who he dates, his metaphysical beliefs……
A steady diet of fastballs is boring. It’s time for Pete and some of the people here to throw a change-up.
The Red Sox won, the Yanks lost. Bottom line. Go to the sons of the sam horn to talk about the red sox win. Right now I’m taking my anger out on you kool-aid drinking A-Rod supporters. I have never seen such a dumber group of people, you sound as ridiculous as Baghdad Bob.

Why do people feel that A-Rod is solely to blame when they lose?
Jeter, Posada, and Pettitte don’t have to share the blame because they won rings a decade ago.
A-Rod doesn’t get any credit when they win, but he’s solely to blame when they lose?
Yeah, that makes sense.

I tempted to use this as a handle.
Samantha??? Now I feel stupid, I thought that was you!
*I’m*
Using A-Rod as the whipping boy during this team’s lack of rings since 2004 is like the Dolphins blaming Dan Marino or the Chargers blaming Dan Fouts for those teams not winning Super Bowls during their Hall of Fame careers.
me,
And the reason the Red Sox were able to pound the awful Nats bullpen…..
Because they made Lannon throw 109 pitches in 6 and 1/3 innings.
On the other hand against the Yankees he threw 108 pitches in 8 1/3 innings.
And please no one bring up that he was dealing throwing strikes so how do expect the Yankees to take pitches and make him work.
Against the Yankees he threw 71 strikes. Against the Red Sox… 69 strikes.
Would some optimist defending the Yankees last week like to tell me again you can not make a pitcher work when he is throwing strikes, because the Red Sox sure did it tonight.
Dennis,
I heard about that. Oberto, Bowen, and another player? Bowen was the “Kobe stopper”. But I won’t miss him and his dirty defense of clipping the legs of players in mid-air.
I was shocked that Ainge tried to trade away Rondo! That sounded like a loopy trade. Though Stuckey & Hamilton are fine, fine players.
I’m not an NBA draft person, but if the Yankees don’t turn things around soon, I might have to dive into it.
“Using A-Rod as the whipping boy during this team’s lack of rings since 2004 is like the Dolphins blaming Dan Marino or the Chargers blaming Dan Fouts for those teams not winning Super Bowls during their Hall of Fame careers.”
———
and you could make a case that ARod is even less to blame since baseball is more of an individual-based sport (in which ARod has put up pretty much the best individual #s)
The Red Sox are a better than the Yanks. Its not hard to see.
I blame Alex for Brett Favre coming back and playing for the Vikings. I don’t know how exactly he is to be blamed for it, but we should do so anywayz.
Carl, that’s your problem. You live in a world of instant gratification, but the funny thing is that A-Rod is not providing you with any type of gratification. All you have are MVPs and x number of homeruns you can cite as proof to show he was great, but you can’t show how he IS great anymore. Unless, of course, you count the times that Jeter fails as proof of A-Rod’s greatness, which is crazy flawed logic. But, whateva.
m,
They are gonna cut Bruce Bowen. Hes expect to sign back with the Spurs.
Where’s Betsy and her emotions? I need her tonight to tell explain to me how “tough” A-Rod has it.
Going to bed. Pete, thanks for this great blog of yours. Eff A-Rod!
The Arod bashing is really ridiculous. The reason the Yanks have not won a World Series since 2000 is because Cashman has consistently be incompetent at his job, not because of Arod.
If Arod is on those teams in the 90s, do you really think they do not win those championships if not one or two more?
Teams win World Series, not players regardless of how good they are or how much they are paid. The guy who should be criticized day in and day out is Brian Cashman, not Arod but we do not hear about him partying habits.

What? He just came back from major surgery. Hes not 100 percent. What was our record before he came back. Please tell me.
Ransom needs to play shortstop tomorrow. Bench Jeter since he’s not doing well lately.
The one that worries me is Posada, he looked totally overmatched today and is hitting 200 for June. The others have various reasons but Posada has always been the offensive glue. I still think the launch pad at YS is a major cause for the general slump. I remember one game where they had six hits – four HRs, two singles. That is beyond abnormal. They started overswinging and wrecked their mechanics. I continue to be amazed at Swisher’s brain cramps in high leverage situations, unprofessional. This is a second generation baseball player. Today’s first pitch swing on a poor pitch was just painful. Looks like the Yankees got skanked for his contract. Damon is breaking down, It’s painful to watch Matsui, Melky is 200 for the month but his at bat approach is much improved from last year. The only positive is Gardner’s development, it’s too soon to tell but he has been putting some good swings on quality pitches. His swings and judgement have really improved, he’s thinking at the plate and it’s good to see.
Nick- Samantha is better groomed. She is a sweet dog that we got from a rescue. She brings us a lot of comfort.
Huge laugh on your post by the way.
Mel- Weird rumor on the trade. Hope you are well.

carl, I am so sorry, I forgot we won a championship as soon as A-Rod came back. Given the results of the last few weeks, A-Rod’s comeback provided us with a small sample size of joy. Now that he’s back to sucking, well, it’s pretty much the same as it was since 2004. The word I’m looking for rhymes with slit.
It is really pathetic when Brett Gardner is the only positive in your lineup.

Now that he’s back to sucking, well, it’s pretty much the same as it was since 2004. The word I’m looking for rhymes with slit.
———–
This team didn’t win squat with Don Mattingly either. They didn’t make the postseason until his final season when they were pushing him out the door.
Is Mattingly the reason why the Yanks didn’t win the 1980s and early 1990s?
I guess so if A-Rod is the one most responsible for this team not winning since his arrival.
Eff the entire Yankees team.
Cody Ransom is coming tomorrow? The savior..NOT!
I know A-Rod has been bad but to single handily put the blame on him for us losing is ridiculous.
It’s the whole team so wake up people.
and leave Betsy alone, Emotions are part of the game.
BTW, since when is what A-Rod had considered “major surgery”, is a heart transplant major surgery too? Both aren’t the same kind of “major”, as far as I’m concerned. A-Rod elected to have surgery, he came back, well mo-fo produce. If that’s the case then every ballplayer at some point or another has had major surgery. Can we stop with the A-Rod excuses already? I had major surgery too, but I still recovered and went on to bat .678 in my Sunday beer league softball team. Where’s my medal?
dennis,
I was well until I found out that the Spurs are going to re-sign Bowen. lol. They should get rid of that silly rule. Once you cut a player, he should be prohibited from getting a buyout and returning to the original team in the same season.
BR,
Yes, it’s sad. I like what I’m seeing from Phil and Gardner. But that shouldn’t be the highlight of the week!
“NumberOnePositivePoster June 24th, 2009 at 12:22 am
Going to bed. Pete, thanks for this great blog of yours. Eff A-Rod!”

Don’t let your ARod bashing keep you up all night now…

Yep its all him. Not Jeter, Mo, Posada, Cano, Swish, and the rest of them. Alex isn’t hitting, The team should pick him up like Boston did Ortiz. This “Team” isn’t that good of a TEAM right now.
Giuseppe, I think that junk you put in your hair is finally getting to you. Mattingly? Seriously? You need to bring out Mattingly’s name in order to make A-Rod look good. You make Iran’s government seem more reasonable and rational.
Mattingly never had a supporting cast quite like this one, if he ever did, then he would have won four championships.
How is it that ARod gets called out at every turn, and Derek Jeter’s name doesn’t even get used when he hits into yet another rally-killing, taylor-made double play?
You have a serious blind spot, Pete.
Derek Jeter is KILLING this team right now, but when he hits into a DP, Pete just throws it in as “The Yankees” hit into another one.
I think NumberOnePositivePoster has a metal plate in his head.
It’s from headbutting too many brick walls.
Boston Dave, I have your A-Rod mirror, it’s looking right at me and blowing me kisses.
“I had major surgery too”
Lobotomy?
And God forbid anybody should dare to criticize Jorge Posada for anything… After all, he was the catcher on a World Series team nine years ago.
“Boston Dave, I have your A-Rod mirror, it’s looking right at me and blowing me kisses.”
——–
I figured that’s why you stole it.
Anyway, it cost me $10k on Steiner Sports, so give it back.
NumberOneMostPositivePoster, we get it. You don’t like – make that hate – A-Rod. He’s the anti-Christ to you. You’ve written the same sentiment about A-Rod over and over and over again (15 times so far in this thread.) Give it a rest already. You said you were going to bed 20 minutes ago. Please get some sleep and leave the rest of us from hearing your nabobbing nattering of nothingness.
Wow, how profound YSP, so Posada had a bad game. Waaaa…waaaaa…waaaaaa
Isn’t he coming back from “major surgery” too? Where are the Posada sympathizers? You people are a bunch of phonies.
“NumberOneMostBoringPoster”, you are so sophomoric.
ysp,
C’mon. You know better than that. It’s all A-Rod’s fault. Nobody has to share the blame.
A-Rod made Jeter ground into those DPs this week. A-Rod made Posada strike out four times tonight. He made Wang give up three runs in 5.0 IP and Robertson allow the solo shot in the 8th.
He also made Melky, Damon, and Swisher butcher balls in the outfield.
What the hell is the matter with you?
Wow, how profound YSP, so Posada had a bad game. Waaaa…waaaaa…waaaaaa
Isn’t he coming back from “major surgery” too? Where are the Posada sympathizers? You people are a bunch of phonies.
Hes batting 200 in June, hows is that 1 game Pete.
Sophomoric? No, I’m just bored. With you.
Girardi has to work with what he has.
You don’t need to tell Jeter that pulling a low outside slider will result in a DP as happened today. Jeter is the face of the franchise. He’s making 23 mil a year. Try managing that. These are the top paid professionals in the business. What do you say, “Please sir we need a doink to the right side to move up the runners”. The situation is absurd. Torre made his claim to fame managing, by getting out of the way. It worked for a while.
How can these professionals not know how to waste a pitch? How can they not zone pitches? Do they need Youkilis tutoring?
Other than Teix and Damon in the top six, quality at bats are few and far between, whatever the results. Down three they hit a HR, great result – bad at bat. Percentages are higher for a single and you need four runs to win.
Pete,
What the heck are you up to? Why did you stir the pot like this?
Because Pete is the biggest troll on the board
So if Alex hits .400 in July and the Yankees win 20 games. Will he get any credit? Or will it be Jeter who gets that one hit in the inning to break the tie?
Hes getting paid 300 million that’s what hes suppose to do!
A-Rod is to blind-supporters as kool aid is to ….
…..

brainwashing.
NumberOneMostBoringPoster, that was in last Saturday’s SAT.
There is a lot of complaining going on right now about your Yankees.
But all I know is that year after year it seems like the Yankees go through a slump in the first half of the season and then usually come on very strong in the second half of the season.
This isn’t the first time this has happened, and with the exception of last year the Yankees have made the playoffs every year in recent years.
Sure the Sox are five up, but that really doesn’t mean a whole lot at this point in the season.
Yeah we need Berroa at 3rd with Matsui cleaning up.
Sorry to interupt with a baseball question, but anyone who watched tell how Robertson looked? I saw he gave up a run, but how was he pitching?
Does Pete really troll his own board under different ID’s?
That would explain a lot.
ray, seriously, not today dude, go see how red you can get in the sun.
“There is a lot of complaining going on right now about your Yankees.”
——–
welcome to the new LoHud Yankees Blog
ray (sox fan) ,
Its more of the constant hate that A-Rod gets when the Team is playing well as a whole. A-Rod is terrible right now, but so is everyone else.
Ray,
With all due respect, go have sex with your manny delcarmen doll.
ray,
you’re right though. it almost seems like business as usual so far.
Yanks struggle in the 1st half. Sox take a lead.
Yanks play catchup as they streak in the 2nd half.
Yanks are still in the drivers seat for the playoffs, but as was the case last season, it’s not longer a free ride now that Tampa has woken up.
NO Pete doesn’t troll,he’s too busy for that crap!!
ysp, So I’m Pete now? You guys are hilarious. Yeah, Pete’s only purpose in life is to piss you guys off. Seriously, do you people have normal jobs? wake up at a normal time to go to work? deal with people at work on a regular basis? and, you people actually know how to turn on/off the light switch at work? I just want to know, you know, just in case all of humanity needs to be saved from all you people ever procreating. “Mami, mami, mami, they said mean awful things about A-Rod in the yard today, I can’t sleep, will you hug me so I an sleep?”

Sorry to interupt with a baseball question, but anyone who watched tell how Robertson looked? I saw he gave up a run, but how was he pitching?
————————————————————
Robertson did alright except for the one pitch that he left over the plate. It’s not like McCann hasn’t been doing that for the last three years, though.
ysp,
is that necessary?
Pete,
Could you hate on A-rod anymore? I mean really, I’m not sick of it yet.
Seriously. He didn’t hit into a double play with runners on 1st and 2nd and one out. That was Derek Jeter.
I know his struggles reflect the Yankees’ struggles. I understand that. But posts like this really prove some impartiality on your part. When you get shut out, no one, 1 through 9, did their job.
I’m not apologizing for him at all. He’s been horrendous. But everyone deserves criticism. To pick on him in this manner (I know the contract and all the other stuff is why people do it) is just flat out unfair. What the hell else is the guy supposed to say? The team is playing terribly, they’re all at a loss for words. I’m sure there were plenty of ridiculous comments coming out of that clubhouse tonight. But it’s always A-rod’s fault. So silly.
Boston, they really turned on the engine to 1st place last year (or the wildcard, if the engine stalls in the 2nd lap). You must be one of those Road (ha!) Scholars.
Always,
Rhode
“Seriously, do you people have normal jobs? wake up at a normal time to go to work?”
Sez the dude who posts 45 minutes after saying he was going to bed.
Go to sleep already. Somehow the world will survive without hearing the news that you hate ARod.
re Robertson
He grooved a belt high FB for the HR. He was getting swings and misses on both his FB and CB. He was missing low in the zone with the FB so he had to go upstairs.
Boston, Yes, ysp needed to do that. Are you from tbe same planet as me? So he should have throw out the red carpet for the sux fan. Is that how you do things where you from? Sounds like a fun neighborhood.

Evening, Ray. Hope all is well in the (sox fan) family house. As you can see, grade school is out for the summer, and so are the Special Ed. kids. Wish their parents would send them off to some “Special Needs” summer camp and forget to pick them up. Disregard the two “special” idiots. Have a great night.

Pete,
I rest my case. It’s up to you to do something about it.
I messed up earlier but I’m not the only one…
“Boston Dave”
That was pretty tame… Any Boston fan who makes their way to any Yankees board to enjoy the down times deserves everything they get.
Thanks GB. I hope all is well with you too.
Don’t worry. I’ve been around here long enough to know that one or two individuals do not represent everyone on this blog.
Denigrating other players because Pete or posters choose to denigrate Alex is wrong.
The players understand the competition is in the other clubhouse but some “fans” don’t seem to quite get that.
ysp,
Just so you know I have been coming on this blog for 3 years and it makes no difference to me if the Sox win or lose when I come on here.
There are plenty of people who will back me up on that. I don’t come on here to gloat.
Denigrating other players because Pete or posters choose to denigrate Alex is wrong.
The players understand the competition is in the other clubhouse but some “fans” don’t seem to quite get that.
So why do people get denigrated for attack Jeter, Posada, Andy, Mo, and others.
ray,
for what it’s worth, your posts add more to the blog than at least 75% of the Yankee “fans” that bless us with their daily insights.
is it going to stop raining anytime soon??
Ray,
This is a Yankees board… There is only one reason for a Boston fan to be here, and we all know what that is.
Surely you have better things to do… Your Jonathan Crapelgone doll is getting lonely.
despite your allegiance, perhaps 75 was a bit low

LMaO. Perhaps I’ll get “Killer” on the trail and you can bring your attack poodle and we can track ‘em down, just to rid the world of them.
I know you don’t need backup, but, crap like that is uncalled for. I’d be curious just what blogs sent these two idiots, along with the others here. I’m guessing it’s part of the same old feud with a couple of other blogs that somebody dragged this blog into.
And somebody named “Boston Dave” backs up Ray… What a shock.
Gotta be pretty pathetic to go trolling another team’s board.
We better start scoring some runs soon. Halladay is coming back in Toronto.

You’ve been here a week, maybe and you’re all mouth. Yankees have always been known for class. Fans like you, not so much. Celebrating Junior Hi Graduation, are we? Sex Ed classes must be getting kinky or did you discover Dad’s computer password?
“Gotta be pretty pathetic”

I don’t always excel in this category (I’m trying), but if treating people with respect is pathetic… I can live with that.
Or was it the intelligent, pleasant, rational conversation that was pathetic? I can live with that too.

LMAO.I knew that 35 years of training would have it’s uses someday.
Do the Boston boards that you visit ever get like this anymore? Damned. It’s getting impossible to deal with, anymore.
Carl,
Nobody criticizes Mo. Half the people don’t care about Andy. Nobody really cares if people talk about Jeter.
But Posada’s a different story. Don’t anyone dare criticize the real “captain”.
so much love for the red sox on this board. Let’s all go buy houses with wheels on ‘em, wife beater t-shirts and four cases of schlitz.
You guys want to love on Boston and their fans, feel free. But don’t expect every Yankee fan to do so.
As far as I’m concerned, there aren’t enough bad things that can happen to Boston or their team, and I have no desire to see their idiot fans on a Yankees site.
“But Posada’s a different story. Don’t anyone dare criticize the real “captain”.”
———-
as long as it’s valid. I didn’t see Posada neglect to run to 1st earlier, but if he didn’t, he’s fair game to get knocked for that.
I think it would be more effective if people “question” some things rather than outright criticize, especially if the ‘evidence’ isn’t too sturdy.
On top of that, the season is 162 games. Short of Albert Pujols, every player stinks is up for a week or two here and there.
Posada is really looking bad, hope it’s temporary, maybe a hidden injury. He’s always had a good eye at the plate, not today. Catchers at his age – could be trouble. And in that case there’s nothing they can do considering his rep, ego and contract.
ok the team is playing like garbage and it would appear there are some internal issues, but i still can’t get worked up yet. I watched Francessa the other week when they were still winning, and he happily told some ecstatic guy, “yeah, but you know a slump is around the corner.” it sounded pessimistic at the time, but now it sounds so optimistic and level-headed.
the girardi usig poor judgement re: injuries is a serious concern, but aside from the injuries i think we’ll be ok. if a-rod heals properly and sticks to the re-hab plan, of course he’s goign to have a good year. what is the issue here?
ok, now that i’ve made no sense at all, i’m going to bed. good night everyone!
ysp,
Against my better judgment I am going to respond to your last post.
You said “so much love for the Sox on this board.” If you had been on this blog for any time at all you would realize that people like Boston Dave and GB7 despise the Sox.
But that does not mean that they don’t like to engage in baseball discussion with fans from other teams. If you don’t care for someone’s perspective you are free not to read their posts.
as long as it’s valid. I didn’t see Posada neglect to run to 1st earlier, but if he didn’t, he’s fair game to get knocked for that.

—————————————————-
Pujols has had his slumps this year.
“Pujols has had his slumps this year.”
——–
I know. Maybe I should use Joe Mauer?
Of course the point was that basically everybody has slumps. Posada looked good for a while. Now he’s slumping. The law of averages suggests he’ll hit again. I hope the law of injuries doesn’t come into play.
Such is baseball.
Boston Dave and Ray are not trolls.
Oh m, you don’t really believe any of that, do you?
I really like where the pitching is at this time. Wang was at 62 pitches after five. Gave up a couple of hits mostly due to out of the stretch problems. Joba and Phil are looking good. The BP is not too shabby.
On another note, considering Cashman was against A Rod signing post the opt out he’s sure getting grief for the contract.
“I really like where the pitching is at this time.”
———-
that is somewhat lost amidst the offensive struggles.
had the offense played just average baseball over the past week or so, Pete would be posting how great the staff has been instead of this ARod ’stuff’.
The bullpen still has some kinks, but if they’re still there in a month, Cashman will have a chance to iron them out with a trade or two.
Pujols is better than Arod, and doesn’t pull the whole team down with him, when he slumps.
Arod can only dream of Albert’s at bats performance.Arod is paid as the best in baseball.Albert performs as the best in baseball.
According to Feinsand, the quote Pete provided above was an answer to 2 questions and is missing a sentence.
Is it possible that this is just going to be a bad year for you, or do you feel like you’re building toward something?
“I’ve got to take it one day at a time. I certainly don’t think it’s going to be a bad year. I think I’m going to do a lot of good things to help the team win. When things aren’t going well, you have to just keep working hard and hustling.”
Are you afraid this will continue as the season goes on?
“I have complete certainty that I’m going to do a fine job this year for our team.”
Who’s giving Cashman grief?
“According to Feinsand, the quote Pete provided above was an answer to 2 questions and is missing a sentence.”
———
how convenient of Pete to remove a sentence like that.
I’m no journalist, but aren’t you supposed to close your quotes and start over or use a “….” when you selectively chop up someone’s statement like that?
Ray (sf)
As a Yankee fan – any fan of baseball respects the Sox as a franchise. An impressive display of baseball management in all the facets. For the first time in forever in some things the Yankees have to follow where the Sox lead if they wish to compete. You need at least two to create a rivalry. And at this point the Sox are much more efficiently run. The Yankees can’t buy the championship no mo.
Boy, that A-Rod sure has a lot of nerve to tell the beatwriters that he thinks he’ll turn it around this season.
What the hell is this guy thinking?
Doesn’t he read the LoHud boards? Doesn’t he understand that the season is already over and it’s all his fault?
I’m curious… does anybody know if comments and page views go up dramatically when Pete posts an anti-ARod thread?
I wonder what would happen if we wrote to Pete’s blog sponsors every time he made an unnecessary or unfair anti-ARod post and told them we were boycotting them because of their presence on Pete’s blog?
kind of like a shock collar for when Pete decides he can manipulate peoples quotes, and his audience, to drive up page views and comments.
So now you want to silence freedom of speech?
“So now you want to silence freedom of speech?”
——-
absolutely not.
but I don’t believe that you should manipulate someone’s words.
Pete did not accurately portray what ARod said. He removed part of the quote (clearly for effect – to make ARod look even worse) without demonstrating that grammatically in his post.
Further, I never said Pete cannot say whatever he wants. I’m not sure where “freedom of speech” came into play.
You know Pete can always shut this blog down, when the posters become unreasonable.Keep up the threats.
You really think Pete would use the Pavlovian “A Rod is a wuss” to up the Blog Hits? I’m shocked, shocked I say.
“You really think Pete would use the Pavlovian “A Rod is a wuss” to up the Blog Hits? I’m shocked, shocked I say.”
———-
not sure… but it would make sense if true.
I don’t usually care when Pete gives his opinions on ARod. I know he’s not a fan and that’s a-ok with me.
Maybe it’s petty, but this time is different. Misquoting someone is different than giving an opinion, at least in my opinion
I have to say this. What you said to Christine was rank. She’s someone’s sister, mother, daughter,or wife. How would you feel,if a person spoke to your female loved one that way?
All over a comment on a blog, you think you own.

that won’t happen again. I have conversed with Pete about it and had already sent her an email to apologize. I don’t like being attacked but I dealt with it poorly.
that has nothing to do with this thread, though.
In other news, Asian markets are up….
perhaps there is a correlation between the stock market and the Yankees winning??
I know man it just stuck with me.Glad it’s been taken care of,that’s all. But stop threatening Pete over freedom of speech issues. The LO HUD will censor him,if necessary. It’s his blog remember,he allows us to comment freely.

Another high school dropout erroneously making this about Freedom of Speech.
Do you people even know what the First Amendment means?
Obviously not.
The First Amendment means that the government (federal, state, local, etc, etc) cannot shun you or put you in jail for speaking out against them.
It has nothing to do with voicing displeasure about the author of this blog stirring the pot and taking more cheap shots for no good reason.
EXCUSE ME, I have a MBA,and I don’t recall posting anything with your name. I don’t have to prove anything to a foul poster like you.
Is the Taiwan market up too? Perhaps encouraged by Wang’s improved start and mindful that he was taken out because of Girardi’s vain hope that the Yankees might ever score another run?

EXCUSE ME, I have a MBA,and I don’t recall posting anything with your name. I don’t have to prove anything to a foul poster like you.

If you really had an MBA, you’d know what the First Amendment means.
It means Congress or any government cannot put you in jail or make any laws that shun free speech.
Private entities like LoHud can ban anyone they want for any reason they want and it’s perfectly legal to do so.
Freedom of Speech pertains to the government. That’s it. Period.
Glad to hear you studied so well in junior high school.
Even though they lost Wang did a good job.It has to erk him to be winless still.
I’m just hoping that Wang can keep it up.
irk
So it wasn’t one of those business/constitutional law/spelling programs?
I think he’s gaining arm strength. The Yankees will be brutal in arbitration with him.I’mm pulling for his performance.
Wang did good tonight.great thread Pete.I Arod comes around soon.Jeter and the double plays are killing the team.
Cano’s at bats are awful.
I meant , I hope AROD comes around soon.
If Girardi’s thinking of changing the lineup for the NL, I might try something like this:
Damon
Jeter
Swisher
Texeira
Arod
Posada
Cano
Gardner
Jeter wll knock anyone on first off base, with a force out
or a dbl play.
ray,
no real Yankee fan cares to hear anything from the white trash of boston.
actually, that’s not entirely true. were you on here to post a link to a story about a jon lester relapse or a red sox charter plane crash, some of us would be interested.
now run along, your jason varitek doll is waiting.
Didn’t A-Rod say something to the effect of he was going to concentrate on baseball this year after all of the steroid crap and the surgery? Doesn’t seem to be working.

—————–
Going out to dinner with his girlfriend is a felonious offense that illustrates he’s not concentrating on baseball?
Is this even an issue if Teixeira had gone out for dinner with his wife or Jeter had gone out with his girlfriend?
What is wrong with people?
It’s not like the guy went to a strip joint with a carload of hookers and got into a bar fight which landed him in jail.
It’s amazing how there’s such a double standard here with A-Rod and everyone else on the team.
This is a guy who made news for simply going out and having lunch/dinner by himself at the local country club when he was rehabbing in Colorado.
YOU PEOPLE SHOULD STOP KILLING AROD AND START BLAMING ALL THIS LOSSES ON JETER TOO. LAST FIVE GAMES HE HAS COME UP IN BIG SPOTS AND HAS DONE NOTHING BUT GROUNDED OUT INTO DP. LAST GAME AGAINST THE NATIONALS BASES LOADED IN THE 8TH, SATURDAY AGAINST THE MARLINS IN THE 8TH 2 ON NO OUTS IN THE OUT, ANOTHER DP. SUNDAY IN THE 7TH, SAME SITUATION SAME RESULT. YESTERDAY IN THE 6TH WITH MATSUI AND GARDER ON, AGAIN ANOTHER DP. YOU JUST CANNOT WIN WITH SO MANY DP’S. AROD IS NOT BATTING BUT AT LEAST HES NOT COSTING YOU GAMES.
Oh Joe, stop yelling. It’s a new day.
i bet pena goes because he has options left and they will want him to get some playing time… Berroa goes when Nady returns
“Didn’t A-Rod say something to the effect of he was going to concentrate on baseball this year after all of the steroid crap and the surgery? Doesn’t seem to be working.”
The A-Rod headlines and controversy has been minimal this year. It’s all baseball related. Forget dinner with Kate, it’s no big deal.
Like I said, games don’t start at 9 am, if he’s out until 2:30 am, who but some stupid reporters care about it? Well, nobody should care about it, but I continue to be surprised.
I find it (very) mildly amusing that this team is having more trouble than it should with some NL teams, given that their manager was a “Manager of the Year” when he managed in said NL.
But, didn’t the Yankees also have trouble with the NL during Torre’s last season? Or is my memory getting foggy, each year melding into another??
Do they have games left with NL teams at home (YS), or are they done?
The way the Yankees are built this year, it does really hurt them to lose the DH when playing in NL parks – i.e., Matsui unable to play the field. And it really stinks that Damon is hurt NOW, meaning he can’t really play the field, or if he does, that he’s not playing even at his usual 90% (we know he hasn’t been 100% for a long time now, and I’m not knocking him – he gives 100% of his 90% at all times).
I was leaning toward the Yankees trying to retain Damon’s services for next season, but I’m backing away from that position. I still like him, and I’m sure he’ll be able to have some success going forward. But the Yankees can ill afford any more players who’s playing time is compromised by nagging injuries which affect the quality of play, when they play. He was signed to play CF, and he can’t play there anymore – but that was okay, because he slid easily into left last season and did a decent job defensively there, which was important because Matsui can no longer play there. But this season, he’s not getting to balls easily though the effort is still max. With Swisher playing right most nights due to Nady’s injury, the Yankees outfield is shaky most nights.
So next season, no Matsui and no Damon. I’ll be sad to see them gone because I respect their effort and what they’ve done. But going forward, they are no longer assets to the team. What remains to be seen is how the Yankees will fill those two holes. Will they go with Jackson? Will they try to trade Swisher and/or one of the two of Melky & Gardner? The outfield is a real unsettled area right now.
I think Girardi should juggle the lineup a bit. I almost don’t care in where he puts who, but just do something, even if it IS cosmetic. How could it possibly hurt?
Wang’s outing was encouraging yesterday. With some offense, he might have won – but he didn’t so you can’t dwell on that. However, the fact that he only threw 62 pitches in 5 innings is extremely good. If they weren’t playing in an NL park, he could have possibly given them 7 innings. 3-ish runs over 7 innings is vintage Wang, isn’t it? Let’s see next start where he takes it. I’m excited about that. If Wang is stable, then perhaps Hughes does not have to be “on reserve,” and can be used in different situations. I’m not going to root for someone else to go down so Hughes can start, but I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility that he could sub for Joba every now and again, if Joba doesn’t stop being whatever it is he’s being right now. He’s not giving up a lot of runs, but his outings don’t leave you feeling very good, do they?
I do believe this slump will end. I am, though, very surprised it did not end after they beat up on Santana last week. Perhaps it was the “luck” of the schedule – having to go on the road to less-than-familiar parks facing less-than-familiar pitchers. It SHOULDN’T make a difference. But apparently, it did.
The last 2 and a half weeks have been extremely disappointing. I thought this year’s version of the team would escape these particular types of doldrums. I had stated that winning series was all that mattered, not winning streaks. But they stopped doing that. One by one all the positive things they were doing have slipped away – not being shut out, not losing when only giving up 3 runs or less – those kinds of things. Well, I think they’ve pretty much hit rock bottom, so now we find out if they have the resiliency to bounce back up.
** Winning series was all that matter TO ME, I should have said.
My theory on Derek Jeter: after seeing how many balls get by him at SS, he figures he’ll just keep hitting balls there himself.
Eventually, he’ll luck into hitting one at a SS with his geriatric range.
“Didn’t A-Rod say something to the effect of he was going to concentrate on baseball this year after all of the steroid crap and the surgery? Doesn’t seem to be working.”
Because he said he would play better or because the media blew him being out on the town way out of proportion?
So far I haven’t heard ARod talk about anything other than baseball which is great…I imagin he’s not the only Yankee to go out and play a little late on a game night…I just imagine that he got spotted and is an easy headline.
ARod crap aside, I just want to know what a win looks like again. Not sure where the spark to light this team is going to come from but I doubt Ransom is the answer. Not sure that Nady is that spark either but lets hope so.
Cody Ransom……now there’s a solution!! sigh.
You know what would have been nice from Pete, the whole quote from Alex and the questions asked. This is getting old fast:

According to Feinsand, the quote Pete provided above was an answer to 2 questions and is missing a sentence.
Is it possible that this is just going to be a bad year for you, or do you feel like you’re building toward something?
“I’ve got to take it one day at a time. I certainly don’t think it’s going to be a bad year. I think I’m going to do a lot of good things to help the team win. When things aren’t going well, you have to just keep working hard and hustling.”
Are you afraid this will continue as the season goes on?
“I have complete certainty that I’m going to do a fine job this year for our team.”

Thank you NYYanksFan and Feinsand
Happy Birthday to Phil Hughes! Good job again last night vs Atlanta.
Feinsand’s entire quote was in his blog, but in his newspaper articles, he left out the “hustle” part of the quote, too, though he did use elipses to indicate a thought was missing from the printed string.
Jeter Sucks!
That’s right, it is Youuuuuuse’s birthday today.
Happy Birthday to him!
Blaming all of this on Arod is absolutely idiotic.
Nobody is hitting. Jeter is back to being a GIDP machine, Cano can’t hit with RISP, Posada has stuck out 8 times in the past week on balls in the dirt, Damon is hurt again, can’t hit, and can’t catch a routine flyball that cost him a game, and Nick Swisher doesn’t have a spot in the order where his weaknesses are exposed.
ALL of that is Arod’s fault too?
He should just shut it down, have the second operation, and call it a season. This way, he’s 100% next season.
David Ortiz hasn’t hit all year and the Red Sox find ways to win every night. This team dosen’t.
Why should Arod be the only guy taking heat for this futility? Last I checked, 24 other guys are in uniform.
If they can’t get it done, it doesn’t matter what Arod does because they won’t win with only 1 guy contributing.
Agreed line up should be rearranged,Damon and Matsui’s contract shouldn’t be renewed.Yankees need to get younger.
If they make it to the WS,playing FUNDAMENTAL BASEBALL is a must with The NL. I say this because the Cards are hot now. If they happen to represent the NL,LaRussa is all about, small ball, and good old fashioned manufacturing of runs.
Mo hasn’t been used in a week,puzzling.
Wang seems to be well on his way to his old self.Even though we lost, because of No run support.
5 games out in a matter of two weeks wow.
//Heck, even I want the Yanks to win some games and make this an entertaining race. Games won’t be much fun for Boston fans, either, if they don’t have any meaning until the playoffs start.//
Oh we’ll be allright! In fact I get happier and happier every day while the Sox keep winning and the Yanks keep losing!!!!!!
We’ll be just fine up in Boston if this keeps up. Don’t you go worring about us!
10 up on the Yanks by July 1st will make the 4th of July weekend just oh so much fun!
AROD will hit. He always put up numbers. Minimal spring training, coming off surgery, steroids story – what did you expect.
The Yanks, obviously, are a much better team than the last two weeks would indicate. Strong, deep starting staff, deep line up, and a questionable but improving pen.
Are they a great team? No.
Are they a very good team? Yes.
Can they win it all with this team? I think so.
I think they would improve their chances significantly if they had a credible manager.
Can we all just agree that A-Rod is not a good fit and after this season we should do everything possible to lobby the Yankees to trade/dump him and eat some of the contract. I would trade him for David Wright straight up. Most Yankee fans think I’m nuts and most met fans wouldn’t want A-Rod.
For this season we should shop Melky and another minor league arm for a solid Right Fielder with a strong arm. Not looking for a superstar. Delmon Young’s stock is way down and he plays a decent right field but not sure he would be a fit for two reasons. His numbers are dreadful and his head may not be on right. But there has to be a decent right fielder that can fit into the mix and than we can put Swish on bench. Put Gardner and Austin Jackson in a platoon in a month or so from now. And platoon Damon and Nady in Left Field. Our outfield is awful defensively and is not producing offensively!
Thoughts?
If you package Melky and a solid arm in minors you can get back a quality non star 28ish Right Fielder. Lets put our demented heads together and think of who we can get back!
