The ESPN announcers made a comment that they made Cox an office right outside the dugout, because he gets tossed so much…hahaha

If it helps, managers keep managing in that situation about 99% of the time. Doesn’t really matter anyway, as nothing especially extraordinary was done. Not a manager alive that doesn’t go to Mo with 2 outs in the 8th after several days off and the set up man struggling.

Girardi managed the game from the runway, not Tony Pena.

Bobby Cox has gotten thrown out of more games than any manager in history and that’s how he does it.

There was no magic Tony Pena elixir last night. Every move in that game came from Girardi. As it always does when a manager gets tossed.

Maybe bru is alluding to the infielders extending their cutoffs, meaning going further out into right on certain plays to cut down on the stress Nady has to put his elbow under on basic throws back to the infield. This won’t work, however, when he absolutely has to make a throw to a base or to the plate–these will be the real tests of how healthy he is.

Honestly the guy won’t be playing in right every day, but having his bat back and finding the right rotations for him between RF and DH should hopefully help some offensively. And yes I know he is statistically inferior to Swisher due to his comparative lack of patience and power, but he has a rep for being a professional hitter and might improve the team’s success in RISP or situational hitting scenarios.
